 Kisa had been thinking lately. She really needed to learn some new stories. Sure, it was all well and good to make them up, or tell the ones she knew. And of course, there were always the stories that were sort-of true. The type told to cubs to teach them a lesson, that had the same themes woven through them. Or the ones meant to entertain that were not true at all - since normal lions couldn't do magic or fly around like in some of those tales.
But real stories, or even stories with a basis in truth ... were always better, in her opinion...

 Mani was resting underneath a scraggily tree. It offered some shade, which was fine with her. Some shade is better then no shade at all. Today felt like a bit of a lazy day. A day to recount past a experiences leisurely as well as recall cubhood stories. She'd been told quite a few when she was little but only one that sprang to mind. Mani had heard others in her wanderings but, they didn't float to the surface.
The cheetah mused that perhaps she liked this story the most because she'd asked her Mother to tell it so often. Or, perhaps, it was how it eventually tied in earlier to her life. Mm, the feelings that brought back. Both sad and sweet at the sametime..

Kisa came over a small rise, and stopped for a moment to look out over what was ahead of her. After a moment, she spotted the other feline beneath that tree and smiled. Oh! Perhaps she might meet someone new today!
That is, if the other didn't attack her, or run off. She'd had both things happen in the past. Padding a little closer, Kisa stopped when she was still far enough away to either run or not seem scary. Then she called out, "Hello!"

Mani jolted a little, being brought back to reality from her thoughts. It didn't look like she'd moved all that much, but to her, it felt like she'd jumped several feet into the air. Such a feeling didn't usually occur unless she was thoroughly buried into her thoughts. Purples ears swiveled and Mani craned her head around. She glanced around 'till she saw a dark feline form.
Interesting. A hybrid of some sort? She hadn't come across many so far, and she secretly wished that she would. They were all so cute. Mani smiled gently and called, " Hello and good day to you. "

Oh good, she seemed friendly! A relieved sort of smile spread over Kisa's face at that, and she bobbed her head a little and came closer - stopping a few feet away. A much more comfortable distance for conversation, in her opinion!
"It is a nice day, isn't it?" she agreed, still smiling. "My name is Naledi'kisa. But most just call me Kisa."

Mani flopped her tail to the other side, so her company didn't accidentally step on it. " It is rather nice today. " The dark cheetah said, and slightly nodded her head. " Oh, it's a pleasure to meet you, Kisa. I'm Mani. " She'd heard that hybrids were usually rather nice, and it certainly seemed so. Mani had never gotten to meet one before, so far, this one seemed rather nice. With a cute scruffy mane on her neck. " How are you? "

Kisa purred happily at that, tail flicking around a bit. "I'm doing pretty good!" she answered cheerfully. She had met a few other cheetahs... some of them hated her because she was half lion - which she didn't understand, but oh well. Mani seemed very nice.
"I've just been wandering for some time, collecting stories. Because I'm a storyteller," she said then, smiling.

" Oh? A storyteller? Sounds rather fun. " And it did indeed sound fun, and interesting. She herself knew there were many stories out there. Creation stories, to Pride stories, Tales about great feats by heroes. Love stories. ...Love stories. Mani put on her thinking face for a minute. " That reminds me. ..Perhaps you'd like to hear a love story that my Mother used to tell me? " Since Kisa was collecting stories, perhaps she'd like this one. It was a love story, and one of the few she could remember at the moment. Mani made a mental note to go visit her parents, and refresh her cubhood stories.

The cheeton's ears pricked forward at that and she nodded eagerly. "I like to hear stories as well as tell them!" she said, bouncing just a little in her excitement.
"So if you know a story, I'd love to hear it!"

Mani was more than happy to share the story, but a thought occurred behind those deep purple eyes. The more she thought about the story, ..the more it reminded her of something that happened in the cheetah's past. Mani wondered if that wasn't merely a story that her Mother had told her about. She didn't know if her Mother had been a seer or not, but the cheetah shrugged to herself. She could always find out later. Mani looked to her company, who was eager to hear her story and said with a pleasant smile, " It's a bit of a lengthy story. I hope you don't mind that. "

"Oh, not at all!" Kisa replied instantly, moving to settle herself a bit more comfortably. "Long tales are often the best ones... Though shorter tales are good for the young." She smiled at that, remembering the little cub she had talked with not so long ago.

Mani nodded in agreement, " Longer stories are usually better for bedtime. " She played the dirt a little, gearing her mind towards telling a detailed story. " Once, a long time ago; there was a lion and a cheetah. The lion was a large male, and earthly coloured. A knowledgable and gentle giant, he was. The cheetah was.. was less than dainty and graceful. " Mani chuckled slightly. " These two had grown up near each other since adolescence. And as these two had grown, they had come to be close friends. The kind that have your back, no matter what happens. Both had, unfortunately enough, bad first romances. Eventually the pains of these abusive relationships, slipped into the past. The lion and the cheetah, whom had drifted slightly away from each other, due to their past experiences, found the other again and begun to hang around more. Back..before things had gotten sour in their individual lives. " Mani stopped for a minute collecting her thoughts and letting that portion sink in. She hoped that her story was coming out well enough, though, to her ears it didn't.

Kisa nodded in encouragement, watching the cheetah avidly. It was true that the pacing wasn't all that great and some things could probably use more detail. But ... not everyone spent hours and hours practicing this sort of thing.
So she wasn't about to put the other female down - not at all. "Go on ..."

Mani saw the nodding encouragement from the hybrid and continued her story, " There came an unexpended time for the two of them. As they spent more time with one another, they.. found how good they were for each other. So, they eventually became mates and had many good times together. They were teacher and student to each other. The lion and cheetah were together for many, many years, until the the happiness stopped. This was unexpected for the cheetah and..immensely heartbreaking. She hadn't forseen this happening, and had gone against what the dainty creature had seen in her dreams. The lion didn't want to end it but, he felt he wasn't ready for a relationship. The cheetah held no ill will against him, for she fully understood him. But, for however much she'd known him.. she couldn't understand why he was doing this. Soon enough, they parted ways once more with heavy hearts.. "
