A blanket was laid out on the grass in the middle of a forest. This wasn't anything out of the ordinary, except the only occupants were a small blonde girl and a large brown Sentret. The girl had a small basket by her feet and was presently reaching into it to pull something out.
Her name was Julie and her little furry friend was Fluffernutter the Sentret - aptly named for his love of the marshmallowy product that his trainer had had on a sandwich the day he'd met her. His taste for the substance was even why they had a ton of fluffernutter sandwiches in the basket, along with a package of juice boxes and a container of apple slices.
Pulling out the apple slices, the small blonde tried hard to open the container without spilling. "We gotta have somethin healthy first, k Fluffy?" she told her partner. However, as the child pulled and pulled on the lid, it burst open, dumping a bunch of them in her lap and sending a couple flying into the bushes nearby.

Risty was sleeping comfortably in some bushes when she was woken up by the sky falling on her head. Well, okay, it wasn't the sky, she realized after a moment of panicked sniffing. What it was, in fact, was something that smelled really, really good - some kind of food! Taking a nibble, the Rattata recognized the taste as an apple slice and was soon chewing away - it was rare she got to eat something this nice!
Soon enough, the first slice was devoured, and she moved on to more of them, but those were also eaten quickly, and the hungry pokemon started sniffing around for more. Maybe she would find some really good pieces if she left the bushes. . . Gathering her courage, the Rattata burst out of the bushes and made a grab for an apple slice that was disturbingly near the hand of a young human. "Apple~!"

Julie and Fluff jumped a bit when they saw the Ratatta darting for the apple slice. The girl moved her hand away quickly so as not to get bitten but smiled on seeing the creature nibble on it. "Hi there. Do you like apples?" she inquired, offering the creature another one carefully in her open palm.
Fluff was nibbling on a slice himself and snickered a bit at Risty's cry. "Apple good." he said, making little trilling noises in the back of his throat to express happiness. Julie couldn't understand what was being said, but she knew that noise, smiling a bit more because of it.

Risty stared at the apple in the human's hand. It smelled so good. . . but- but a human was holding it! Didn't that make it bad? And dangerous. Frightened, she looked over at the sentret that sat near the human. "W-will she...... I don't want caught!" she yelped, and scurried away a few feet to watch with fearful red eyes.

Julie blinked at the Rattata as she scurried back. Carefully the little human lowered her palm a bit and tried to stay still, "Hey, it's okay. I won't hurt you." she cooed, "We're all friends here."
The Sentret blinked a bit, obviously not completely versed in the ways of trainers and pokemon (he had been a teeny bit new to dealing with humans when he met Julie after all and she tended to give him a skewed view of the species.). "Caught? What caught? No caught - lunch! Come eat lunch. S'nummy - Julie's nice. I's nice. Come on."

Risty's tail twitched and she resolved to ignore the very-baby Sentret. He was too little to know danger from safety, she could tell that now. Still... that apple slice did look very, very good... and she was so hungry! "W-well.... okay.... just this once," she said, even though she knew the human couldn't understand her, and darted over, grabbed the apple, and darted a few feet away again to nibble on it. As she ate, her ruby-red eyes gleamed warily while she watched the human to see what she would do.

Julie smiled. "See, I'm not gonna hurt you." she cooed to the little creature, taking some more apple slices out of the box to lay in front of her and Fluff. Promptly, the girl pushed the rest of the box full towards the purple pokemon.
"Here you go. Eat up! There's plenty for all of us."

Risty set about devouring the apples, and looked over at the little sentret curiously. "So... why are you with a human?" she asked, not expecting much of an intelligent reply out of the baby; he seemed too young to be able to explain very well. For the moment, she ignored the human, which was the closest she could come to being nice to the scary two-legged monster.

Fluff blinked, rolling over on his side. "Cause she's nice? She gives me food, and cuddles and brushes my fur and we go on waaaaalks and take baths in the warm waaaaater and play gaaaames..." he trailed off, rambling about all the fun he did with his trainer. After all, what could be more awesome than that, right? Better than being stuck in a hole in the ground searching for food all the time and being scared of predators.
The small blonde seemed content to lounge about with her juicebox as the two talked, the girl getting used to Fluff being able to hold conversations with other pokemon without her. Though, granted, the last pokemon they'd met had been humanoid. How weird was that?

"You're weird," Risty said flatly, staring at the sentret as she finished off the last of the apple slices. Following that, however, she trotted over to him and sniffed him, before licking the baby on his ear. "But you're heathy, so I guess you're right that she treats you well enough... she doesn't make you fight?" the rattata asked, taking a seat and staring between the sentret and his trainer.

Fluff giggled, using his small arms to push her away a little, "Noooooooo! Stoppit! Tickles!" he cooed, causing Julie to laugh a little, reaching over to pet his ear a little to dry it off.
"Silly Fluff, you play nice with your friend now, okay?" the girl told her companion, patting his head and smiling at Risty again before returning to her drink. The baby seemed quite relieved to have his ear dry now.
"Why would she make me fight? That'd be mean!" yep, definitely a baby.

Oh, very much a baby, Risty decided. He reminded her a bit of her little brother Caden, before he was captured by some idiotic new trainer with a Squirtle and a dream. But never mind that now, she couldn't help Caden - but she could help this little one be happy! "... no reason," she lied quickly, and to divert the sentret from the subject, she began licking his tummy.

Immediately he rolled onto his back in a gigglefit, wingy arms flailing as he tried to push the other pokemon off. "Noooooooooooooooooooooo, no tickleeeeeeees!"
Julie giggled, clapping her hands, "Silly Fluff!" she repeated, "Silly Ratatta too!" there was an obvious note of friendly affection in the girl's tone too.
Eventually, Fluffernutter managed to get enough leverage to begin tickling her back with his large and fluffy tail. Though it might have been more brushing her face and ears than tickling, the baby wasn't very maneuverable after all.

Risty shook her head and kept tickling the baby, brushing his tail off easily with her own curled one. "Yeeeees, yes tickle! I'm gonna tickle you til you can't laugh any more!" By now, the rattata had nearly forgotten all about the human, and wasn't even that bothered by her lingering presence. She was just having fun with the cute baby that she was tickling!

"Noooooo! Not that!" the younger pokemon cried between fits of laughter, attempting to dive up and tackle Risty back. It wasn't working too well, seeing as he was round and top heavy which made it hard to get off of his back.
After a while of this back and forth, Julie clapped her hands, "Kay, that's enough now!" she called in a bright tone, "Gonna hurt yourselves if you keep that up." she pointed out, pulling out two more juiceboxes.
"Purple, do you wanna juice?" she asked, reaching out to lightly tap Risty's back to get her attention, holding the juice up so she could see it. "I can pour it in the empty apple box if you want, or you could have a straw."
