Kizi was furious, her tiny claws leaving shallow grooves in the ground as she stalked toward the tree where her "friend" Sungura was supposed to meet her. Friend... Sungura was no more her friend than Awena. Both of them were toys, nothing more. Though Sungura was far more fun to play with, and didn't complain as much.

But that could be in jeopardy now.

Stupid Jini, going around and messing with her plans. Her ugly, yellow sister had some nerve trying to take away her latest plaything. But she would pay dearly if she did it again. Right now, Kizi just had to make sure that Sungura was on her side and hadn't fallen for her sister's pathetic stories.

As she approached the tree Kizi put on her best crying face, sniffling and managing to get a few fake tears rolling down her cheeks. "Sungura?" She called, sitting down at the tree's base and looking around. "Sunny? My b-best friend?" She choked on her words most convincingly, her lower lip trembling. "Are y-you here?"

Sungura was there, but he was not by the tree. Some twenty feet away was a large rock, smooth on its top and easily climbable for cubs as young as Kizi and Sungura. There he sat, slung over the side, a sad little look on his face, starring off into space, or more so into a puddle at his own reflection. He didn't hear her as she called for him, everything tuned out to him for the moment.

He wasn't sure whether or not he wanted to go and wait by the tree for Kizi, so he picked this place. It was not the tree, but he could be spotted easily from it, and if Kizi showed up, contrary to Jini's words,, she'd come to him. He'd been there for several hours now, and was beginning to lose faith in the fact his new best friend was coming. Maybe what Jini had said was true?

"Kizi isn't coming..." He muttered to himself, quietly.

Kizi sat beneath the tree sniffling to herself for a few moments before she spotted Sungura on the rock. Why was he over there? Not that it mattered. Kizi hurried over to him, her fake-crying still going strong as she climbed up to the rock with him.

"Oh, Sunny!" She whined, "I'm so glad I found you. You met my sister, didn't you?" She avoided eye contact, something she did when she was pretending to have hurt feelings. "Jini told me that she met you and that you said you hated me." Oh yes, it was beginning. Kizi figured that if they were going to spin lies around her little toy, she had better come up with some good ones to win the battle.

"She said that y-you never wanted to see me again." More tears rolled down her cheeks and dripped down onto the rock, glistening in the sun. "B-but that's not true... Is it?"

Sungura snapped out of his daze as soon as he heard Kizi's voice. He didn't quite like the fact that she kept calling him 'Sunny' and would make sure to tell her later, but for the moment was she crying? Scooting forward as Kizi approached, he tilted his head to her, concern in his eyes and voice, "Kizi, why're you crying?"

As soon as she asked if he had met Jini his eyes lowered and a frown appeared upon his face. Jini told Kizi that he hated her? She had said that Kizi said she never wanted to see him again. She was truly an evil person. She had to be a demon, as far as Sungura was concerned. No one could be that cruel and mean to people they didn't know just because they could be.

"No," He said quietly, looking away from her as he started to feel the same strange feeling in his tummy that he had gotten the first time they met. Maybe she really was making him sick like Kipofu suggested. He'd have to go see the healer about this, or mama. For now, he would try his best to ignore it.

"She told me that you didn't want to see me ever again, too. And that you thought I was dumb. I knew she was lying," He said, peeking over at Kizi from time to time, his little nose dark with his blushing, "I could tell she was lying. If you didn't want to see me, you wouldn't have asked me to be your best friend."

Kizi looked up at him, her lip trembling. "I knew it wasn't true..." A small smile appeared on her lips as he spoke. The smile appeared innocent, happy at what she was hearing, but really she was just glad that Jini hadn't screwed up her new toy too badly. He was clearly still loyal to her.

"I knew you still liked me." She sniffled and moved closer to him, touching her nose to his lightly before backing off, "Jini always tells lies. I think you're one of the smartest lions I know. Other than my daddy of course." She didn't want to seem like she was exaggerating too terribly much. "I try not to listen to Jini too much, but I was scared that I might lose my best friend. I'm sorry that I didn't trust more in you." She gave him a pleading look, as if asking for forgiveness from him.

"Let's both promise we won't listen to anything she says without talking to each other first, okay?" She wiped the tears off of her face with the back of her paw, glad that she didn't have to pretend to cry anymore. It was such a chore sometimes, but it had to be done. It was always a wonderful weapon for getting Jini in more trouble, if she needed it.

As Kizi touched her nose to Sungura's his eyes widened slightly, and his face felt very hot. He pressed his ears to his head, and his tail flicked back and forth slightly agitated with all these weird things his body was doing. He had no control over them when they happened and he was far from pleased with this, but he did not outwardly say so. It wasn't Kizi's fault, it was his. Whatever was going on was something wrong with him.

He touched his nose back to Kizi's for a brief moment so she didn't feel as if she did anything wrong and turned his attention back to the evil Jini, "I promise, Kizi. I will never listen to anything she says without talking to you."

Kizi could tell that her little Sunny was a bit uncomfortable with what she had done, but he returned her gesture. Good. That's how it should be. Her smile went from innocent to sly for a brief moment as he made his promise. Perfect.

"Thank you, Sunny." She smiled, glancing around to make sure they were alone before lowering her voice and speaking again. "Can I tell you a secret?" She had a sneaky look on her face, as though she was sharing something dangerous but fun with him. "Nobody outside of my family knows this, you'll be the first one. You can't tell anyone, ok?"

She wiggled her toes in false-excitement as she awaited his response. She wanted him to feel like she trusted him, like she was telling him something only the most privileged of lions got to know about. She loved being dramatic, especially when it got her something she wanted.

"Secret?" Sungura asked, raising a brow at Kizi and he forgive internally her calling him 'Sunny' once again. Secrets were dangerous business from what he knew. Honesty was supposed to be something you strived for, because keeping secrets, even little ones, could hurt someone, or results badly. He didn't know if he wanted to go down this route, but Kizi seemed excited about this secret. If she was excited, maybe it was one of those rare secrets that are good, like surprises.

"Ok, Kizi. I won't tell anyone," He said, his ears perked up curiously to listen, "Besides. Only Kipofu knows about you, but she doesn't know what you look like since she's blind."

"Aw, you told your sweet sister about me? How nice of you!" Kizi giggled, scooting closer to Sungura and lowering her voice again to whisper in his ear dramatically.

"I can see stuff that's going to happen in my dreams." She said softly, "Or stuff that already happened. I see the past or the future sometimes." She flicked her tail from side to side happily and looked at him expectantly, not sure if he was going to believe her or not. She knew she sounded a bit nuts right now, but was the truth. In fact, it was pretty much the only truth Sungura had heard out of her mouth in a long time.

"That's part of why Jini is so mean to me, she's jealous of my powers. But it's hard for me too, you know?" She made a slightly sad face at him. "I mean, sometimes I just get really dizzy and fall over and I have a vision. My head hurts after and I can barely walk... It's a really useful ability but I have almost no control over it."

"So you're a Seer?" Sungura asked, quirking a head to the side. He was confused as to why Kizi was talking to strangely about it. Didn't she know people like her existed all over? Maybe she just hadn't met enough people yet to learn this. That was ok, though. It wasn't as important to know as other things, like how to hunt.

"Maybe you can come with me into my pride and we can go see the healer? The healer might be able to help with what happens when you get a vision," Sungura suggested, placing a paw to Kizi's forehead, "Or my Gramma could help. She's also a healer and is the leader of our pride!"

Kizi nodded, "Yes, that's exactly right!" She wasn't aware of any other seers. She was sure they must exist somewhere, but as far as she was concerned she was one in a million, special above all else. "Do you know any others?"

Kizi paused, unsure if she wanted to get involved with his pride or not, at least until she had more control over him. "That sounds nice, Sunny! You are always so full of great ideas to take care of me." She chimed, "I'd love to meet the healers of your pride sometime, but not today." She looked up at the sky and saw that the sun was starting to get a bit low. "If I stay out too late daddy will get worried about me."

She was surprised when Sungura reached out and touched her forehead. Perhaps he was getting more comfortable with her. Good. That's how it should be. "Oh, I think meeting your gramma would be fantastic!" She licked at his paw and giggled, "I love how helpful you are to me. It's great to have such a good friend like you."

Sungura shook his head to Kizi as she asked him whether or not he knew any other Seers. He knew what they were, but he had yet to meet any aside from Kizi, and if he had, he had no idea he had done so.

His ears lowered a bit as Kizi told him that she couldn't meet his pride's healers at the moment, but understood. If he didn't get home soon as well, his mother would definitely wonder where he was and worry, the same went for his sister Kipofu. He only wished Kizi could go with him into the pride and spend the night, but he didn't think her daddy would be very receptive of that.

"I understand Kizi," He murmured, smiling at her as she licked his paw. It made his tummy aches come back as she did so, but he ignored them for the time being. He liked that she had licked him and giggled, giving her a lick back on the face.

"You're a good friend too, Kizi." He said, looking over his shoulder back into his pride with a sigh, "You're gonna have to go back home soon, aren't you? The sun is starting to go down."

Kizi smiled even bigger as Sunny confirmed what she had been told before. Seers were fairly rare, and that made her even more special. Not like she didn't know that already, but it was always nice to be reminded.

Kizi was delighted that her little toy was willing to go along with anything she asked of him. Yes, this was perfect, and Jini could not hope to ruin it. She had this cub under her control and she knew it. Nothing made her happier.

"I'm afraid so, Sunny." She frowned, "I'll come back here tomorrow and we can talk some more." She nodded, "But for now I really should go, so that daddy doesn't get too worried." She nuzzled his cheek before turning and taking a dainty leap off the edge of the rock they had been sitting on, landing on her feet gracefully.

"I'll also ask daddy if it's alright for me to visit the healers in your pride." She called back over her shoulder as she headed home, "It'll be a great adventure!"

Sungura smiled and watched as Kizi hopped off the rock and took off back to her father. He was excited for her return and for her to possibly meet his Grandmother and the pride's healer. His mind was at rest over the situation with Kizi's sister, Jini, and knew in his heart that Kizi wouldn't say such mean things about him like Jini had wanted him to believe. He would make sure not to let things that Jini said get to him, as it would hurt him and Kizi's friendship, one he was elated to have.

Once Kizi was gone, Sungura also hopped off the rock, and went his separate way home to tell his mother of his friend, whom he had hid from her and his father, while having already told his sister. He hoped she would be his best friend forever, unbeknownst to him, forever would be very short for the two.
