In the thread "What. The. Hell.", this link was posted.
http://www.healthopedia.com/pictures/episiotomy.html

I was looking to see if I could find my clitoris and make sure mine wasn't missing too. >__>
And like...where the v****a is, I sort of have this filmy-looking skin the covers the bottom half. I don't know if that's the hymen or not. As far as I can tell, what I'm seeing on me is not in that picture. It could be the Episiotomy Incision? O_o

Is the hymen even visible on the outside?

If it is the hymen, I can understand why sex would hurt the first time. And why bleeding would occur. o_____o;

I'm kinda scared now. gonk

That is a horrible picture because an Episiotomy Incision is not part of the body.

"An episiotomy is a surgical incision made in the area between the v****a and a**s. This is done during the last stages of labor and delivery to expand the opening of the v****a to prevent tearing during the delivery of the baby."

Basically, it's done to make your v****a bigger to allow the baby to get by during birth.

The best thing to do, if you really want to understand you body - talk to your doctor.

Your Hymen is a thin membrane that covers the Vaginal Opening. It looks like a thin bit of skin. Some of you may have touched it and seen it without noticing that it was even there. There is a hole in your hymen big enough to allow menstrual flow. Some females are born with one hole, two holes or many small holes. Those who are born with out a hole in their Hymen, have one surgically made at birth. Some women are even born without a hymen!

The thickness and felxibility of your Hymen depends on hormones. This is why before puberty it is so easy to break your hymen through things such as riding a bike, falling off of monkey bars -like me- or through some sports. It is possible to break your hymen with a tampon, but usually at this stage of life, it's flexible enough to not break. But it is possible!

So now you might be interested in trying to look at your Hymen. This is fairly simple with the use of a hand mirror. It's best to do this someplace safe like a bathroom or your bedroom with the door locked.

You should see something Similiar to this. Although All Vulvas DO NOT look alike.

And I'll add to this:

There are different kinds of hymens. If you're interested in looking at some of the varying hymens, the following picture may be helpful. Please note that the picture, although drawn, is graphic. Different Hymens

Okay, I think what I was looking at is #4 in the picture in that link.

Too bad it doesn't say what it is.

If that red flap is the hymen, then I can;t see well enough in a mirror to tell if I have one.

That is ok. A lot of girls are unable to see it through simple mirror usage. If you eveer go to a GYN, You can ask them to use a mirror and have them point it out for you. (If you are comfortable enough to do so.)
