Wow, that's kind of a deceiving title if you think about it. ninja Anyway, have any of you people taught others a foreign language, or even tutored them? I'm starting to tutor a girl tomorrow for $money$. biggrin I'm very anxious, excited, and happy about that! I hope I will be successful. Anyway, I'll update tomorrow...but you can share your experiences here.

About two years ago I tutored a 16 year old from my karate class... taught 'em Japanese (for free). It was a good experience I think, since I learned some things about teaching languages.
Recently I've started to think about getting a part time job, since I need to start saving up for university, and I actually have considered French tutoring. There are a few problems with this:
-I wouldn't make a good teacher but I have very little patience with people who stink at French (I can't help it sweatdrop ) -my French education was different from many English Canadians and therefore I'm not 100% familiar with their "system" -I have no teaching qualifications.
I have also thought about becoming a French professor at a university, but somehow staying in university for 9 years to get a PhD doesn't appeal to me.
(I've also thought about charging people at school for helping them with their French [those idiots won't leave me alone gonk ] but I'm scared that this will enforce the Jewish stereotype stare )

I keep teaching for free. Teaching someone who says they'll pay me and I don't mind terribly much if they don't. But I would like them to get around to it x3
I'd be the one who answered the students' questions in Spanish class partlyb ecause I'm half Mexican so everyone figured. IVE GOTTA KNOW. That and the Spanish teacher kind of had her head up her a**.
Then my friend wants to learn German and I'm teaching her besides school but she's NOT GETTING ANYWHERE if she doesnt learn to pronounce right because. I hate gringo accent. >: That's why I don't dare try and learn Chinese cause I know I cant pronounce it. ; ;

I teach my friend Japanese. She's a singer and about to perform in Japan, therefore she needs to learn some basic Japanese to get around and understand a bit of the lyrics she's about to sing... I think the most challenging task is to understand how the other person thinks and help them understand the best way possible. It's quite difficult for me to do that...

There's a guy who's in both my math and English classes, who has French next semester and he said that he'd like me to tutour him domokun which I will do (why not, he's a cool guy) but I don't know if I should ask for money or for community service hours. I need money a lot more than community service hours (I already have 67 hours and I only needed 40 anyway), whereas I need money so I can buy more French books :3 heart
I'll have to talk to him and see whatever works for him best. domokun

I teach minor things to my friends and family.
I quizzed my mom a few days ago on basic spanish words, since my parents are now in Cuba for two weeks. crying
She keeps adding french and italian.
But they understand those better than english, so in a way it works. XD

Closest I've come to that is proofreading chemistry coursework (in English) for a Dutch friend of mine.
Apparently the teacher wasn't too good at english, though - it was perfect English, but the teacher disagreed.

Apparently the teacher wasn't too good at english, though - it was perfect English, but the teacher disagreed. My French teacher was like that. I got people from France to proofread my work, but she still always had something to say. Once to prove her wrong I even brought a book in French and showed her a sentence like mine that proved the way I had done it was right, but she still wouldn't agree! mad
