Sitting at the edge of the forest, keeping to the shade, Nykto gazed off at the dark silhouette of the mountains in the distance. In some ways he missed his time spent there. Mostly, he missed the protective darkness of the caves. However, he knew he was better off staying in the forest as he had been for the past weeks. The darkness of the caves was protective, but also discomforting and lonely.

He turned his gaze away from the mountains. Perhaps one day he would return there; but only if he found a traveling companion. Somehow, he couldn't imagine someone wanting to travel with him. However, now was not the time to be thinking about traveling companions... The sun was already getting lower in the sky. The sun would soon be behind the treeline and not too long after that, darkness would creep in to take over the land.

Nykto's tail swayed gently back and forth as he stood facing the clearing before him, impatiently waiting for the sun to set, yet at the same time dreading it.

User ImageTaking in a deep breath of cool air, Sauda sighed softly. She had traveled rather far away from her herd lands this time. Mile by mile, she discovered the area around her family's lands. While she always had an inch for exploring, it was best for her to stick near to home, lest she get lost. Like always she thought in dismay. She wasn't lost this time though! That only happened when she was surrounded by trees. It was a wonder why she hadn't developed a fear over forests yet... Laughing to herself, Sauda continued forward.

Coming over a rather steep hill, she spotted something that made her stomach sink. Speak of the devil. Woodlands spread across the land infront of her. Turning her head to the side to see if she could go a different way, she spotted mountains in one direction, and... more woods in the other. It was getting late, Sauda observed. She could try making camp, but the only safe area to do so would be the forest that laid out before her. Not a good idea If she got lost tonight, it could take her days to find her way back out. Why didn't I try to get someone to come with me? Pouting, Sauda stepped towards the forest. She didn't get far before she spotted a red and white figure standing not too far away from her position. Her red eyes blink curiously, taking in the Soquili's appearance. The leathery wings on his back and his spade tail gave him away as a kalona, but he was missing the horns, Sauda noted. Maybe a half breed? This wasn't the first time that she would have a run in with a kalona. She had gotten out of it without being harmed last time. Gishoni Sauda would like to think of him as a friend, but he still scared her.
I wonder... Sauda blushed lightly at the thought. It's worth a try. Maybe he's nice. Clearing her throat, Sauda spoke up before approaching him. It wouldn't be smart to startle the halfbreed. "Hello," She called out, a smile plastered onto her face.

Nykto continued to stare out at the clearing as he passed the time, not really paying attention to anything around him. He didn't even notice as another Soquili drew near. His senses had never been the keenest, and now they did not serve him as they should have. He had been completely oblivious of the female's presence until he heard her voice.

His gaze instantly snapped to her, a smokey gray figure atop a hill not too far from him. He remained completely still as he debated what to do about this intruder. Truly she wasn't an intruder, as he did not claim this territory as his own. So he had no real right to be angry, but still he wasn't sure if he wanted the company of another right now. Who was he kidding? Of course he wanted company; he almost always desired that. It was only that he hated for others to see his weaknesses. But sunset was coming soon, and he would be better off with some company in the darkness.

He smiled slightly, an almost unnoticeable smile and called back to the female. "Good evening." He tried to look as friendly as possible, letting his muscles relax and his wings lay gently at his sides. He was the more likely threat here, and he didn't wish to scare her off just yet.
