Ireally like the last picture in the first post. The lines flow really well and although simplistic it represents an accurate figure : ) Iguess I like the pose as well
Thats my fave one.

yes, we were allowed to spend more time in that one, about thirty minutes. the others range from five to ten.

My college art professor would tell me after I sketched in the nude model to begin sketching in what was behind him/her.

"It'll make it a real drawing," he'd say.

So I began drawing the windows, the buildings outside, the benches in the room, and even the other students with their drawings boards drawing the model.

Really brought the whole thing together. Like a nice rug in your living room or something.

You should try it, Paige!

What?

Though I can't say I've had much practice with drawing the nude, I do have to say one thing: I love your proportioning. *w*

i think it really depends on the time constraint given. The first time i ever tried figure drawing, the teacher encourage us to do the same thing, on drawings that we were given 30-45 minutes on.

Since i was really interested in drawing the figure...for the first five minute drawings..that's what i did. You can see i still vaguely defined her chair. I suppose i could have gone back to the drawing and done it..

I would really like to be able to take more figure drawing classes so that i can get to the point where i relax, draw the figure and the background.

But currently, its sort of a sporadic thing i only do when i am offered to fill in a spot...and this is the first time i've done figure drawing in two years.

sankyuu khel and vel! proportioning is easy when the proportions are in front of you XD

On the third one the hatching next to the left arm makes her look a bit too skinny, its hard to differentiate whether it is where the torso ends or where the shadow begins. The arms seem a little thin too. I appreciate that time constraints can often be the cause of these things however, it does look like you might have been a little pushed for time on that one.

Apart from that, I like your style. It flows nicely and is sketchy but without being too sketchy. I would just maybe try shading differently because where the hatching is all of the same tone it can look a bit blocky.

You could always see if there is anywhere you can take figure drawing locally in the evenings or something.

yeah, well the main problem with the third one was not time constraints but that the model that kept moving. it was really obnoxiuos XD

and i live in a small town, so there is no where to take regular classes. i usually just have to keep and ear open for the chance that there might be spots open in an upcoming class.

thanks for the crits!

We have a model at college who chews gum and sometimes falls asleep while we draw her.

but if she's asleep, she's at least being still XD. Sometimes the older models do that when they're doing the 45 minute reclining poses XD
