What?
My college art professor would tell me after I sketched in the nude model to begin sketching in what was behind him/her.
"It'll make it a real drawing," he'd say.
So I began drawing the windows, the buildings outside, the benches
in the room, and even the other students with their drawings boards drawing the model.
Really brought the whole thing together. Like a nice rug in your living room or something.
You should try it, Paige!
i think it really depends on the time constraint given. The first time i ever tried figure drawing, the teacher encourage us to do the same thing, on drawings that we were given 30-45 minutes on.
Since i was really interested in drawing the figure...for the first five minute drawings..that's what i did. You can see i still vaguely defined her chair. I suppose i could have gone back to the drawing and done it..
I would really like to be able to take more figure drawing classes so that i can get to the point where i relax, draw the figure and the background.
But currently, its sort of a sporadic thing i only do when i am offered to fill in a spot...and this is the first time i've done figure drawing in two years.
sankyuu khel and vel! proportioning is easy when the proportions are in front of you XD
