I know this is a hard question to answer (at least for me xD).
But I want to know which Pokemon game was your favourite.
Which one did you rack up the most hours on?
Which one do you play the most?
Anticipating the newer Pokemon games?
For me. I played Diamond the most, 154 hours racked up so far. It's probably my second favourite, next to Soul Silver. I do like the old ones a whole lot. But the bright colours keep me entertained.

it brought my original game to a level playable with better graphics
but still being the game I grew up with and loved

Sapphire... It was the first pokemon game I ever owned, though not the first I played. I have over 300 hours on that thing and still play it once in awhile.
