He had trained many years to perfect this move. There was no way in the fiery bowels of the hellish Underworld could be fail this time. Slowly, his hands bent to his side. They shivered. He was quite nervous, the feeling of his past failure's welling up in his heart. No -- what was he thinking? He will succeed this time. Failure was not a chosen option. Time traveled at a steady pace as he readied his hand towards the training dummy.
"Pikaaaaaaa!" the Pikachu hissed. Than he was met with . . with . . .with . . . failure once again.
Taking the pose of "OTL", Max could not believe himself. Again, again he had failed to perfect the move he wish so much of doing! World, cruel world, why were you so cruel? Len sweatdropped. Ahh, her Pikachu was something else.
"So, erm, Elly?" she asked and the Charizard looked at her. Than she looked it. Than it looked at her. Than she looked at it and said, "I'm sorry, what did you want again? I mean, why don't you try out a Flamethrower on that dummy over there?"
Eloise blinked her verdant eye. Really? Did Lennyka POSSIBLY think she was going to listen to her? Rather, the Charizard found solace in chewing on the dummy instead. Len just sighed, why didn't her Charizard ever listen?

Leonard had free time this afternoon. And what did he decide to do. Train, again. It sounded really lame, but what else could he do? He wasn't the one for hanging out with friends. Not that he had many. And he really really wanted his Drifloon to evolve too.
Normally, the weakest Pokemon of his team wouldn't bother him too much. It's nothing that hard work couldn't fix. But the darn thing was just so incredibly weak. His attacks were more like lovetaps and he easily got OHKO'd by Pokemon half his level. Leonard wished that he had Rare candies for once, but they were all eaten up by a certain Metagross...
Pushing the gym door open with the Drifloon floating behind him, he was surprised to see someone else already inside. A female grunt with a Pikachu and a Charizard. Usually he was the first and only one down here but it's not like it mattered anyway... Right?
"Do you mind sharing the gym?" Leonard asked. His eyes wandered over to the training dummy, which was being chewed on by the Charizard.

Lennyka jumped forty-two yards in the air, which was quite a record for her.
"Wah!" she bellowed in fright along with her sudden pounce. "D-Don't scare me like that!"
In a pointed finger that could put "OBJECTION!" to shame, she leered at Leonard as if he were the enemy . . . or a foreign counterpart. Either one seemed to fit the bill.
"You, you aren't in league with one-three-three-seven, are you?" she growled. However, she sounded like nothing more than a lioness mewing. "I-I have books. I have books and I am not afraid to use them!"
Someone was being a little overly dramatic. Elly rolled her eyes and bit down once again into the dummy. She gave a small looksee towards Leonard and nodded her head. She was answering for her trainer who was being a fool and pulling a Joseph McCarthy. She didn't mind sharing the gym, she wasn't even training in the first place. Max, on the other hand, glared at Leonard. He was an opponent. He . . . HE MUST DIE.

Whoa! What did he do to get on her nerves like that? Leonard took a step back in surprise. "One-three-three-seven? You mean... that guy?"
Yeah, he was being vague. He actually only encountered the odd man once. In his room. With a computer. While a bunch of girls were partying in a different room. He was glad that she wasn't one of those girls, or he didn't see her there at least. Otherwise he'd be completely mortified right now.
"No. Why do you think that?" Leonard said. He wasn't going to count that incident as anything. Not when this girl seems to have something against 1337.
Weatherby, the Drifloon, wasn't interested in the petty conversation these humans were having. He turned his attention instead to his fellow Pokemon. That Charizard was huge, and a vicious brute from the looks of it. And the Pikachu seemed to share his trainer's sentiments. About whatever paltry nonsense they were worrying their heads over. Was there no fellow intellect he can see eye to eye with?

"He did . . . things . . . " she managed to speak out, fetal position and all mind you. "Horrible things . . . horrible things!"
Okay, so . . . her owner was losing it and it what? Hadn't even been three days? "Get over it!" she wanted to scream in human talk. But she wasn't a human and could not talk. Save for the fact of repeating her species name which wasn't extremely useful. She never really did understand that . . . why Pokemon say their species name and all. Heck, a Wooper could just be saying "Woopah, woopah!" in front of humans, trying to warn them it was going to be the end of the world and they just think it is cute. The nature-factor in the Pokemon world was incredibly stupid. Like when a Raichu shocks a human and they survive when allegedly they can sputter out 10,000 volts. What the heck was up with that man?
Realizing she was only thinking to herself, Elly threw her chew toy to the side and approached Leonard like a skittish dog. She wagged her tail even, knocking the Pikachu away as he was just about to fire a Hadouken. He was never going to achieve it, hmm?

Leonard had heard what 1337 was like around women. But he didn't actually think that he was doing anything actually bad until this girl started wailing and curled up into a ball.
"I'm... sorry?" He didn't know what to say. To be honest, he was starting to feel a little guilty about the other night. Even though a little peeping probably wasn't as bad as whatever 1337 did to her.
And now her Charizard was going towards him for whatever reason. Arceus, she wasn't going to attack him with her Pokemon was she? He got hurt all the time with his own, but another trainer's Pokemon was an entirely different matter. Leonard watched the Charizard warily and took another step back. "Um..."
Weatherby only let out a huff of contempt. What was the big one going to do now? And why was that girl on the floor, making that horrendous noise? It was hurting his ears, though she probably didn't care. Humans were like that.

Lennyka jumped up to standing positioned and rubbed the back of her head. "Oh no, nooo~" she said with a small wave of her hand. "There nothing for you to worry about! It's not your fault, not your fault! HE IS JUST GOING TO GET WHAT'S COMING TO HIM NEXT TIME."
Elly sweatdropped at her owner than returned to staring at Leonard. In a small and swift movement, her fuschia tongue met with his face and sliiiiide upwards. Of course, her saliva left him with a serious cowlick. But he needn't worry, this technically meant she wasn't a threat. In actuality, this meant she liked him . . . a lot. A lot, a lot. In truth, she seemed to have developed a tiny crush on the grunt. Hmm, this was going to awkward . . . huh?

Like he said, Leonard wasn't buddies with 1337 so he just took her shouting in stride. Though some part of him was wondering if she was overreacting just a little bit.
"Don't hurt yourself over it." He said nonchalantly before he felt a great big wet thing on his cheek. When he realized what that wet thing was, he grabbed a nearby towel and wiped off the saliva as best he could.
"Yeesh!" Leonard glared at the Charizard. "What was that for? And why is it looking at me funny?"
The last sentence elicited what sounded like laughter from the Drifloon. He glared at his Pokemon and muttered something under his breath.

Dearest Elly's verdant eyes drooped a little. If her irises had the great ability to morph and change color, they'd take the shape of two bright pink, embossed hearts.
"Uh, Elly . . . ?" spoke Lennyka as she extended a hand. "Elly, y-you didn't have to . . ."
"Grr!" growled the Charizard, causing Lennyka to spring thirty meters in the air and flump to the ground below. The brightly orange tinged Charizard returned to swooning over Leonard. Max Repel, anyone?
"So, um, what brings you here?" It was best to change the conversation, it was getting a tad bit awkward ( than again, who from the Dinkley family is not awkward and odd? ). A change on the current topic on hand was certainly needed.

Leonard thought that maybe if he ignored the Charizard, it would go away or lose interest at least. So he pretended that it wasn't there or looking at him funny and turned his attention to the other grunt.
"I was going to train my Drifloon." He jerked his head towards said Pokemon. "And you're here to train your Charizard and... Pikachu?"
He finally noticed the electric rodent pulling off some sort of karate move. Or trying to. Her Pokemon were kinda weird weren't they?

"O-Oh!" nodded Lennyka. That seemed quite sensible. Why else would be be in the training area of all places anyway? To cook pasta? Hardly, though pasta did sound like quite the tame idea at that moment.
"Would you . . . care for a battle?" questioned Lennyka. "It can help with your Drifloon's training . . . and Max does need some help on his um, moves."
Max was busy meditating in a corner when she mentioned his name. Focus, focus is what leads to strength. Focus.

"A battle? Sure." Leonard answered. Even though Weatherby would be at a type disadvantage, at least he'll get some experience. And who knows? Maybe a loss would spur him to do better.
The Drifloon didn't share his trainer's sentiments. Hours of training by themselves was bad enough. But now he would have to use his skills in an actual fight. One he might get hurt in! Oh, this simply won't do.
"If you win, I won't make you train for the rest of today and tomorrow." He muttered, seeing Weatherby's obvious disapproval. Which made him consider it at least...

"Oh but, um . . . " Lennyka twitched like a Growlithe with a treat positioned quaintly on its nose. One wrong move would cause the wondrously delicious piece to drop yet . . . if it did not drop, how would it be obtained? This predicament, irrelevant . . . yes, but it was interesting to read, right? Here's to you reader, for taking the time to read such a thing. Kudos to YOU!
"I'm not much of a battler." she replied. "T-This would actually be my first battle since leaving home . . . a couple of years ago. Ahaha . . . could you take it easy on me please? Max will try his best though, won't you Max?"
No answer.
"Max?"
No answer.
"Max Repel!"
"Pika?!" At once, the Pikachu jolted to standing and took an offense stance towards Lennyka. Damn it, he hated being call that!
"Max . . . " said Lennyka with a small beckon of her finger. "We're going to battle, okay? Okay Maxie Pad? Oh crap, I'm sorr-"
"PIKACHU!"
A small shock and Lennyka found herself on the ground, shocked out of her tiny little mind. She reminded you of someone of exactly the same shade of teal hair, hmm? Maybe they were related.

Leonard couldn't help but laugh, and not because of the trade-off between the Pikachu and her trainer. Although that was funny too, and reminded him a bit too much of his own trouble with Pokemon.
"I don't have to go easy on you. Weatherby's weak enough that his attacks will feel like love taps, believe me." He said, smirking a little. What he said was actually no laughing matter, if he wanted to get a Drifblim anytime soon.
"I'll show it to you. Give him an Ominous Wind."
Weatherby was tempted to attack Leonard instead. He shouldn't put up with this nonsense, he really shouldn't. But he wasn't going to stoop down to his level. He'll show him some other time. In the meanwhile, the Drifloon inflated itself and exhaled a gust of dark energy towards the Pikachu. A gust that was only slightly stronger than a breeze.

Shutting his little blue eyes, Max felt the wondrous breeze and wondered ever so slightly was there a draft in the room. It felt nice, even for an attack at least. In reply to the weak little whirlwind, Max gave a poor excuse of a Thundershock towards what looked to be a child's plaything.
Lennyka yipped happily at the attack, though she was going to tell the good-for-nothing Pikachu to use a Quick Attack instead. Nevertheless, a chipper little, "Go Max!" chirped from her voice. Max thought her to be the worst cheerleader ever.
