Sandy was rather filthy at the moment, the young child on their hands and knees as they dragged and scraped long pieces of coloured chalk on the sidewalk below. Normally Sandy practiced creativity indoors but the picture they wanted to make with the chalk was too big and long to be confined by the small blackboard easel they owned. No this was art that would have to be shared with the whole world. Of course in the process of making this art the spawn had gotten them-self practically covered in chalk dust.

Of course some of the mess came from their tentacles helping out and then rubbing against clothes and hair then they felt dirty.Sandy was slowly gaining the ability to control them but for moments like this letting them help on their own, even if it meant messes, was just easier.

Still, direction was sometimes necessary, "You need to use the lighter green for the grass then the flower stems," the spawn chided and pushed Delta back to the bucket of chalk sticks in every colour of the rainbow before he could make a mistake.

Phoebe did a little twirl as she danced along the street. She was going to the grocery store to restock the store with peanut butter, since Kupo had eaten the entire supply again. She loved her little brother, she really did, but his obsession with peanut butter was getting out of hand - three jars in one week! That was a lot of peanut butter for a little baby! The pigtailed girl skipped along, barely managing to stop before she reached a chalk drawing-in-progress that blocked the sidewalk. Tilting her head, she eyed the chalk-dust coated being that was making the art.

". . . You look like a rainbow exploded on you," she said, not in an unfriendly tone, and giggled. "That's a pretty picture you're drawing!"

Sandy laughed in response to the pink haired girl as they paused in their creating for a moment and sat up." Thanks, it's from a dream I had and there were a lot of colours so it's pretty messy." That they'd chosen to recreate the dream-scape in chalk instead of a less dusty medium didn't help. " I'm Sorry if I'm in your way," Sandysort of hoped people who came along would go around their creation until it was done instead of over it, it wasn't like the grass was all that bad to walk on.

Alpha and Omega, the twin tentacles on top of Sandy's head waved in a friendly manner at the girl, their lower places brethren however continued to colour as though she weren't there.

Phoebe shrugged and moved over to the grass, sitting down on it so she could watch the tantacled-spawn color. "Oh, that's okay. J-Mama just sent me out to get more peanut butter; my brother can wait a little while before I get it. . . can I watch you draw?" she asked, smiling and -almost- daring to pat one of the tentacles, at last settling for just a friendly wave back. "My name's Phoebe, but you can call me Phee if you like, J-Mama does, except when I'm in trouble."

"Phee's a nice name, I'm Sandy," the spawn replied with a smile. " You can touch Alpha and Omega if you like," they gestured to the two head based tentacles "They're in a good mood right now." plus there was nothing on Phoebe that Alpha could steal so Sandy should be fine.

" You can help if you want" Sandy offered tentatively. The spawn was not normally so nervous now that they used their ability to go unnoticed. On the other hand this dream pictures was important and it had to be done just right. " You could colour in stuff I already outlined." Everyone could colour in the lines right?

Phoebe smiled and tentatively patted Alpha and Omega - maybe they weren't quite as icky as she'd first thought. They felt kind of. . . weird, though. Not bad, really, but definitely weird. She couldn't really compare the texture to anything else, it was too unfamiliar; it wasn't like anything she had ever touched before. "Hello Alpha, hello Omega," she greeted the tentacles, trying not to squirm as she thought about just what she was touching.

"Help you?" Phoebe echoed, her tail swishing nervously. "Um. . . I'd rather watch, if that's okay. I wouldn't want to mess up your picture - and, well, chalk would stain my fingers all icky," she said, confessing that she really just didn't want to mess up her appearance with clouds of multicolored chalk dust. It was one of the many woes of being a child of pride.

Sandy nodded "Okay just watching is fine." The spawn was no neat freak and was used to hands on creativity but they also understood not wanting to get really messy. Sandy especially didn't want to get Phoebe in trouble if her Mother was the sort to think little girls should always be clean and stuff. Though why girls should be cleaner than boys Sandy had never known.

"What's having a brother like?" Sandy paused for a moment to stare with intense green eyes at the pink haired girl. Sandy had no siblings and couldn't really imagine what it was like. They shared themselves and their father with their tentacles all the time but surely it wasn't the same.

Phoebe watched the other spawn draw for a few moments - or, well, the other spawn's TENTACLES draw, there seemed to be something of a difference there. . . but when questioned about her brother, her eyes and smile lit up and she took a deep breath, more than willing to brag about her sibling to her current company. "What's it like? Only the best thing ever~! He's all little and his name's Kupo; I have to buy peanut butter a lot 'cause he's always managing to find ti and eat it all even though J-Mama tried to get him to eat healthy stuff like veggies now and then," she giggled.

"He also poofs around a lot, we never know where he'll show up~ And he's got this adorable little pompom on his head that he won't let anybody touch, ever, not even me or J-Mama! But he's fun to play with and I get to help take care of him when J-Mama's busy, and I really really love him so it's great to have a brother - you should get one too~!"

Sandy laughed "I don't think I can just get a brother but it might be nice to have one." They tilted their head and looked thoughtful for a moment "You can put peanut butter on celery which is a vegetable and then put raisins which is a fruit on it, that's healthy," the child suggested. Sandy actually liked that sort of snack except not too often becuase peanut butter stuck to the roof of their mouth forever.

"Maybe," Phoebe said, her tail swishing back and forth as she thought. "I'll talk to J-Mama about it when I go home." She was quiet for a long moment, simply watching the art that the other kid wsa making, before tilting her head, daring to ask, "So what'chya drawing? It sure is pretty, but is it s'posed to be anything specific?" Phoebe didn't really understand art, but she could see that Sandy was putting a lot of effort into this picture, so it made the pink-haired girl curious.

Sandy paused and nodded, " sort of." It was a little bit complicated." It's from a dream so I know it means something but I'm not sure just what yet." The spawn hoped that once it was all put together and staying still , unlike a dream, they could unravel the mystery of what the images all meant. "It's like a puzzle right now." Ice cream and dogs, funny coloured skies and trees with ribbon wrapped around them; the elements of the dream Sandy had drawn out so far looked like the blended result of a lot of kids movies.

Omega wiggled a little as if to display it's own uncertainty about the drawing, that it too didn't yet know what it all meant.

"A puzzle?" Phoebe echoed, peering down at the artwork to look at it more closely. "Can I help you figure it out?" she asked, looking at one of the ribbon-wrapped trees curiously. "Is this tree a Christmas tree? Or a mummy? Or a birthday present maybe?" Somehow she knew she wasn't helping, but she couldn't help wondering! There was nothing wrong with that, after all, was there? Wondering wasn't anything too bad to do - and she wasn't touching or smudging the picture at least.

Sandy's gaze flicked between the girl and the picture for several long moments before the spawn shrugged. " I don't know yet," they blushed a little at that, it seemed silly taking up so much space and putting so much effort into something they didn't even understand.

"Oh, okay," Phoebe said with a smile. "I'm sure you'll understand it later." It didn't really matter if she understood it, after all - what was important was that Sandy do so, if the other spawn was meant to. And she was sure Sandy would - it would work out, after all. No-one could put that much effort into something so pretty and not get rewarded for it!

The child smiled at the reassurance " Thanks." Sandy reached out to push Delta back in the lines the tentacle was supposed to be colouring before they turned their attention to Phoebe again. " Do you draw and colour at home with less messy stuff?" The spawn personally could not imagine not being able to let out their creative side all the time with some sort of medium or another.
