((*lol* Log of AIM RP between Eski and I . . .ignore the cheesy title. IT FITS IN THIS CASE! ))

The sky was a dark purple. Bright-white and dull-gray stars were scattered like diamonds, glittering with their own light. It was shaping up to be a gorgeous night. The sky would be black; the moon would be crisp, white, and full.

Ahhhh...

Tariq'ra'd loved the night.

The sun and day with their harsh, burning heat and dryness, ueghckkk...No, give him a fresh, cool night. His coat just couldn't handle the sun. He couldn't...handle it...

Not the sun that reminded him of her...

But when the moon came out--yes, after the sun vanished for what could seem like forever--that was when Tariq felt the most alive. That was when he felt the most...okay.

But what the hell was he thinking?

Shaking his black mane out of his eyes, the lion averted his pink eyes from the sky and instead brought his focus back to his current...what would you call it...a mission. Yes, a mission. He was following the latest group of adolescent males on what would hopefully be their first raid. But he was sick of thinking about them. Half the time he wished he could abandon them and go back home. It was too...gritty to watch them. Or was that the right word? He simply didn't enjoy tailing them. They reminded him of how he had been at their age, and thinking of that made him think about her.

He was tired.

Mouth stretching in a large yawn, Tariq watched in the far distance as the adolescent group settled down to sleep, possibly too scared to continue on in the cover of darkness. Who knew what could be watching them, after all. Strange, considering the night was the time the hunt was the most alive. Preybeasts slept, lions hunted. Tariq himself had a rather decent-sized kill sitting a little ways behind him. It was the natural way of things to be active at night, at least for Tariq. It was simple. And it was so much cooler, for crying out loud. Maybe the adolescents were tired? Or scared. Haha, poor little scared males.

...He really hated them...

Tail flicking harshly, the male paced, watching them from his distant hilltop, pink eyes glowing in the shadows. He was practically invisible save for those flashes of pink. Which was, he supposed in that moment, probably the reason why he should relax and lie down himself. It wouldn't do any good if the males caught sight of him, though Tariq was quite far away. It was his duty to remain unseen. That was what the Sultan wanted. And as a Vizier, it was what Tariq wanted, too. Of course it was. Of course...

So the male stepped back so that his form was too distant to be visible to anyone looking up the hill. And then he reclined in the grass with a flop, eyes half-lidded in what was perhaps something other than sleepiness. His eyes glanced about dazed for a few moments before they set themselves to stare at the horizon beyond his wide hilltop, too focused--or perhaps unfocused--to notice if anything was headed in his direction. He continued to gaze at the horizion--at the sky.

It really was shaping up to be a lovely night...

It was indeed a glorious night, with temperatures much more appealing than the afternoon highs. The occasional breeze drifted through, refreshing the savanna's occupants and bringing news of what lay on the horizon. In some cases it might bring warning of water, of a herd of antelope, a pack of hyena's, but in Jinaki's case all she could pick out was the scent of blood.

The beauty of evening and its long shadows meant nothing to her; the sparkling of stars, while she might have paused to admire or wish upon, were nothing more than part of the scenery. She had no wishes to spare at this stage of her life; she couldn't waste tears on her fate and had no energy for hollow wishes. If wishes came true, she never would have lost her family, lost her freedom, lost her ability to hunt. If wishes came true . . . .well. . . .

They didn't. End of story.

Fanciful dreams were replaced by desperation and need. While it hadn't been too long since she'd left the wandering gypsy Oseye, she'd had no luck in producing a kill since. The few she had stumbled across drove her away, and hunting rabbits and birds left her more exhausted and with just as poor luck. She'd survived on insects and grasses, but it was just enough to make her even more desperate.

She needed this kill, whatever it was, wherever it lie. She only hoped the wild scavengers hadn't already claimed it for their own. . jackels. . hyena's. . wild dogs. . . even other rogues. Oseye had told her life would get better, get easier, things would work out. Trials and tribulations would come but . . . . Hadn't she enough trial in her life?

Right now, Jinaki couldn't worry about that. Right now, she had to focus, she had to make a plan, and she had to hope that everything would work out for a change. She could do this. . . Trotting slowly up the hill, she grew cautious as not only did she catch the scent of blood, but of a lion. A male. This could prove to her benefit, of course, assuming he wasn't particularly aggressive or sadistic. And assuming he'd be willing to . . . . negotiate.

Today, Jinaki would play on the cautious side of life. She was still rather thin but with luck the shadows would hide her form and allow her beauty to shine. The moonlight and starlight would compliment her white coat, give her a ghost-like appearance. Hopefully though, the strange would be receptive.

She approached cautiously, carefully, slowly. She made sure to keep her eyes away from the kill and focus only on the shadow figure before her. It was indeed a lion, but he was ridiculously hard to see. . . Settling own in the grasses, she made sure he heard her approach (not that she knew how to hide her foot falls due to her lack of proper hunting and stalking education) and slowly began to groom her coat. She kept her eyes away from both Tariq and his kill, though her ears were alert to see what he might do.

If he charged she would run. . .

But until she felt threatened, she would stay.

Tariq's eyes drifted in and out of focus on the horizon as his mind went back and forth from thought to thought. He wasn't at all tired, but he tried to relax his mind--to slip into a strange state of calm that would cancel out his negative thoughts, and also pass the time. As long as he could just lie there and not think about anything--...

sounds entered Tariq's ears and he felta presence. Ripping back to reality with a start, the male jerked his head in the direction of the noise--his right--and set his pink eyes on...a lioness. White like the moon and practically glowing in the ever-blackening night, the male blinked as he observed her, and for just a moment, he was more or less stunned.

She was very...pretty.

Head lowering a bit as Tariq tucked his chin down just slightly, bangs filtering through his gaze, he swatted his tail against the grass softly, perhaps a signal that he wasn't going to be a danger to the girl. But perhaps the gesture wasn't needed.

The lioness was just sitting there, grooming herself.

Tariq smirked, white teeth a flash in the shadows. But the expression faded. He didn't want to seem too friendly.

Not yet.

But at the same time, what was he going to do? He hadn't decided yet. Surely not chase her off. Invite her to eat? No, not yet. But maybe soon. Who was she, and why was she sitting there, not far from him, just...grooming herself? How...interesting. She was either crazy, or wanted something.

Hmmm...Tariq liked the thought of either one. And the realization of that amused him even more. But he tried to hide it.

"I guess this is the part where I say hello?" Tariq'ra'd asked, his voice velvet as the night was turning out to be.

He continued to observe the female, taking in the details, watching for clues, waiting to find puzzle pieces to put into place...

Jinaki continued to focus on grooming herself, though she knew the moment Tariq spotted her. She could feel his gaze settling upon her form, could see the slight shift in his muscles and movement. While the ark was night and the shadow male might indeed have been difficult to spot, Jinaki was experienced enough to know the art of body language.

With the beat of his tail against the ground, she felt her own shoulders relax some. There was no hostility or tension in the air, an he hadn't snarled or given her warning that he might attack. That was as good a start as any, right? The waters still seemed fairly inviting, even if she wasn't going to approach or push her luck.

Not yet, at any rate.

She didn't want to misjudge and get herself in no amount of trouble. The blood of the kill was almost agonizing, her stomach churning with desire for a taste. To not feel hungry, to to have a full belly once again. . . . It was the stuff dreams were made of. Some wished for love, for peace, for protection - all Jinai wished was for meat. Food.

Despite her thoughts, Jinaki made sure she kept her eyes only on herself. But ever, ever so slowly as she licked her front leg, stretching it out so he might get a good view of coat, of the pattern amongst her fur, of her figure, did her eyes seek him out. They were coloured deep sapphire, large and inviting, taking her time to study his form and appreciate what she saw.

Just as she was purposely grooming herself so he might get a better look of her own body, her own coat, of her own beauty. She was pretty. . . heck, if she'd been able to plump up a little she might even peg herself as beautiful. But it didn't matter how good of looks she thought she might have or what others might have said. . .

Right now, the only opinion that mattered was the shadow stranger before her. Hopefully he too might find her favorable.

Jinaki's ears twitched as the male finally spoke. She paused in her grooming, sitting up a bit taller and offering Tariq a warm and inviting smile. "Only if you wish it to be," she quipped, slowly pushing herself to her feet. "I hope I haven't been disturbing you. I didn't expect this hill to be occupied. Still. . . " She added softly, almost coyly, giving him a once over. "I must say I'm rather glad for the company."

Once again, she wasn't going to jump him quite yet. She'd flirt a little, see how receptive he might be. It would just be her luck he wasn't interested in females or already had a mate . . . Thankfully if that was the case she could usually manage a different route to share a meal. But using her body was the fastest and easiest. . .

Unfortunately it depended solely on Tariq.

The hairs bristled on Tariq's neck when those blue eyes glittered through the shadows at him. His expression was serious--observing--but his claws pierced the earth. His tail smacked the ground again and he seemed to loosen up a bit, muscles relaxing and ears shifting to the sides.

Trying perhaps a little bit too hard to keep the smirk off his face, Tariq watched the female groom herself, listening to her speak.

She was quick-witted...to-the-point...almost acting in a routine.

He was almost positive she wanted something.

One by one, Tariq began to put the puzzle pieces in place. She had begun grooming herself without a word--trying to entice him. Her first words pointed to her being easy to persuade. Next, she was trying to get into his good graces. And finally...well, the last statement was...self-explanatory in the best way.

...But why?

Wellllll, he would find out. The female's strange non-introduction had piqued his interest, and he was by no means in a hurry to find answers...

"So..." Tariq began in a musing sort of way. "Not expecting this hill to be occupied means it usually isn't? What do you come here for?" he asked, his dull smirk just visible in the darkness.

He continued to watch the female groom herself with absolutely no constraint.

At least he didn't seem put off by her nature. If anyone knew her reputation, they would consider her a blatant whore. And in a sense, she was. But it wasn't from lack of worth, it wasn't from a need for physical attention or affection, it was because she was absolutely, positively desperate to survive. The night time shadow helped hide her far too thin frame, helped hide the fact that she was constantly fighting hunger. To be clawless, to have never been taught how to properly hunt or even learn the art of stealth, Jinaki was rather pitiful as a rogue. While she still inherited the instinct of a wild animal, having been caught at so young an age as a cub and constrained to a cage with two-legged creatures, there was much she didn't know.

But she knew seduction. She knew how to use the only gift she'd been granted, a rather beautiful coat, and she knew how to make a compromise.

With luck, she could give Tariq what he might desire, and in turn she might get a few bites from some of the kill behind him. While he was staring at her, purposefully watching her every move, Jinaki's only thoughts were on how to get him to be a generous sort. She'd come clean with her intentions soon enough, but for now she'd continue to work with what she had.

Smiling, she twisted her body to give her side a few licks, her tail tip thumping against the ground now and again in a slow, hypnotic sort of beat. Pausing in her ministrations, she sat up and focused most of her attention upon the shadowed male before her. "I find the view pleasant on most days," she admitted. "But it also allows me to keep an eye on the happenings. It's a quiet spot, private usually, and lets me command a view of who might come and who might go. Just in case I desire a spot of company. . ." Laughing softly, she added in tasteful style, "But tonight it appears as if company found me instead."

The way she studied Tariq'ra'd proved without a doubt that was not a bad thing.

Without a doubt, Tariq was hypnotized.

As he continued to watch the rogue lioness groom herself, eyes moving back and forth fluidly with her movements, the male felt a stream of unusual thoughts flowing through his mind.

Who was this female? What did she really have to gain by this act? Where did she come from? And more importantly...where was she going afterwords?

Not far, no. Judging by her words, she wouldn't go far. Would she? If not, did she want to? Did she want to travel? Tariq wanted her to...

Tariq wanted her.

Tariq'ra'd kneaded the earth beneath his right paw, chin dipping just slightly downward so that his bangs fell over parts of his eyes. He liked puzzles, everyone knew that. He liked to solve--no, to break apart and see what was inside...but even though he was interested in figuring the female out, it wouldn't hurt to get a bit...distracted along the way, would it? Because Tariq was feeling very distracted. So much so that he had temporarily forgotten about his bad mood and a certain sunset-colored lioness.

"And do you often find...company here?" Tariq asked in a steady breath. Whatever the answer, he didn't mind. And why would he? Tariq was the loosest male he knew.
PostPosted: Mon Jan 10, 2011 1:51 pm

Jinaki returned to her grooming as she finished speaking, though it was quite obvious that her movement was purposeful. The way she let her indigo eyes stay on Tariq even as she licked her arms and paws. Cleaning was not her purpose . . . . but something else was.

Thankfully though, he was already taking the bait. He hadn't driven her off and he was watching her. The way he moved, his focus only on her, pleased the female. She didn't forget her purpose though, wouldn't forget why she had come. Though her focus was solely on Tariq, she hadn't been able to forget about the kill sitting behind him.

She needed that meat . . . It would give her sustenance, would promise her a few more weeks to live. It was that meat that drew her to Tariq. . . and it was that meat that was going to give Tariq this chance. She wasn't naturally an easy sort of lioness, but desperate times called for desperate measures. Life for a little love. . . Some might call her a whore but if they knew what she had been through, perhaps they might not be so swift to judge.

If it was a puzzle he was looking for, Jinaki certainly could oblige. But she wasn't going to stay much of a secret for a long. She'd make her demands first. Sometimes if she waited until after the fact, they were uncooperative. Sometimes even if they DID make promises, they were still uncooperative after all was said and done. Hopefully this male wouldn't be so cruel. "Oh," she gave a small chuckle and a shrug of her shoulders. "Occasionally, if they bring something worthwhile that catches my eye." It wasn't entirely a lie. Often she traded herself for meat . . . but the way she worded it made it sound like she preferred trinkets or gifts or good looks. "Thankfully for you, the spirits seem to favor you this night. . . . And if you'd allow me to make one small request, I think you would find me to be a most agreeable companion for the evening."

There. She spoke of her desire albeit a bit subtly. She didn't doubt he'd understand what she asked, especially as she gave her body one final stretch. Pushing herself to her feet, she delicately walked in a half circle before him, allowing him to catch her scent as she coyly peeked at him over her shoulder. "I know I'd like your company," she admitted with a purr. "I suppose the question is whether you'd like mine."

Tariq grinned.

For the moment, he forgot about his irritation. For a moment, he felt a sense of contentment creeping over him.

For a moment, all he was thinking about was eating a meal with a gorgeous female by his side.

"Something worthwhile, huh?" he echoed, then nodded his head to the kill behind him. He knew exactly what she was on about. He knew exactly who and what she was. But at the same time, not fully. Maybe for now, though, that was enough. Maybe later...he would find out more about her. Maybe...he could convince her to travel with him for a while. Why would it hurt? She'd have nothing to lose, nor him.

Well, all in good time...for now, they'd eat, and then...well, they both knew what would happen next.

Tail smacking the ground, Tariq rose to his feet for the first time in the conversation and padded over to the lioness. He stared down at her, though not menacingly.

With a smile, he said coolly, "I accept your company. Why don't you take a seat?"

With that, he turned and led the female closer to his kill before lying beside it once more.

The night had gone from bad to good in a matter of moments.

Maybe Lady Luck was smiling down at him after all?
PostPosted: Sun Feb 20, 2011 3:13 pm

The pale lioness watched as the striped male rose. He was a good sized lion, and she caught the faintest stripes that moved across his body. He was like a living shadow, but a handsome one, and one that had a meal strewn out so close. Her mouther was watering, her stomach desired to be filled, but she wouldn't rush or push it. She'd wait and see what happened. One wrong move could set him off, could make his expression transform to one to anger and irritation.

Thankfully though, her fears were short lived. It didn't take long for Tariq to actually accept her company AND invite her for a meal! Delicately, the thin female rose and gave a nod all her own, her smile quite pleased. "Very good. I think tonight will be a good night for both of us." This wasn't purely speculation, this was a guarantee. She would happily share his kill, and then she would thank him appropriately, as hinted at.

It wouldn't bother her, for food in her stomach and another few weeks to live was more than a night with a male. Besides, who knew what tomorrow would bring? She wouldn't overstay her welcome, certainly not, but she wasn't just starved for food. She was starved for a bit of companionship all the same.

Trotting closer, she settled next to the dark lion, allowing her hip to touch his own and her tail brush against him from time to time as she lowered her head to eat. It would be a good night. . . she would have to thank the stars for guiding her to such a place.
