~Story~ Many seers have foreseen what the possible future of the world held for man kind. Unfortunately, none could clearly state the details of such an event, or the day of, as well as the exact cause. Many citizens dismissed the predictions as hogwash however, for centuries nothing as disastrous as what was predicted had ever occurred. There had been many wars and world disasters, yet every obstacle was overcome by humanity, but none held the threat of the worlds end. As a result, many seers had been killed for what was believed to be misleading information. Though many of world destruction predictions was dismissed as nonsense, there were a few handful of citizens in different era’s who believed strongly in the truth of their seers words, and as a result sent those who were deemed chosen to undergo a sealing ritual of some kind until the time they were needed would arrive. Centuries passed and on the surface of things, everything seemed peaceful except for the occasional war or two. Underneath the surface of peace, however, a dark matter began to form and multiply. Demons, the spawns of the devil, whatever words the present era had for them, were slowly, but surely coming into existence and growing in strength. Their conquest was to overrun the world above and enslave, if not destroy all life above. Their very existence, consisting of turmoil, hate, destruction, insanity, created a purpose for their lives to cause misery and death wherever they went. As the century’s passed, their small amount of mischief quickly took a turn for far worse. These intelligent beings hiding in the shadows of the world, also had a seer of their own, and knew well of the potential obstacles they would soon face in their goal of world chaos, and as a result are on constant watch for the day when the futures’ “hope” will arrive.

~Characters Profiles~ Gaian Name: Aura_TenchiCharacter Name: Alicia TomomiyaEra of Birth: Feudal EraGender: FemaleAge: 18Appearance: Personality: Alicia has a strong personality. She likes to speak her mind, sometimes being blunt and to the point. She’s constantly curious, always wanting to learn what she can about something new. Caring strongly for her mission, Alicia feels it was her fate to leave everything she knew behind to protect the future. If she loses sight of her goal, even without knowing exactly how to complete it, she fears everything in her world would crumble and she’d break down from the huge loss.History: It was always said that Alicia had some strong hidden power that would hold a huge impact on her and those around her; however, the girl was never told what it was or how to unlock it. Due to the large potential in her, the girl was listed to become a priestess and was set to train immediately. Things took an interesting turn when Alicia was approaching adulthood when the feudal lords seer spoke of a prediction of the worlds end. The elder woman spoke of a small group who could change the fate, one of which was a young priestess. The lord, panic stricken, quickly summoned for all of the best priestesses to come forth for the seer to point out who held the most potential in preventing such a tragedy. Alicia, though not a full fledged priestess yet, had followed her master in hopes of learning from many other priestess as well as to learn more about the so called hidden power she’d never seen within herself. As a result, when the elder woman raised her wrinkled hands in admiration of the chosen one towards Alicia, the young priestess in training was the most surprised, as well as confused. It was then on that her life training changed to preparation in dealing with the future changes as the other priests and priestesses began to set up the sealing ritual. After a few years, it was deemed the time for Alicia to depart. The girl was then lead towards a small, partially hidden cavern near a shrine. The ritual quickly began using ancient magic from before the feudal era to seal Alicia in a life preserving crystal behind built in stone doors. The doors were meant as a form of protection to prevent unwanted quests from entering and disturbing the deep slumber of the feudal era’s hope for the future.Weapon: StaffLikes: Cats, sweets, being usefulDislikes: Being ignored, sour foodOther: It is said that Alicia can only use her power either when she is in life threatening danger or when the time has come for her to protect the world from destruction. Since neither has occurred, the girl sometimes doubts there’s anything special about herself for she’s never seen it.Gaian Name: tenihitonoko (It's Vivi/Sapphira moonchild) Character Name: Noko Teniko Era of Birth: Era of Exploration Gender: Female Age: 20 Appearance: NokoPersonality: Noko is rough, simplistic in nature and practical. She acts primarily in self-interest, care for other people is secondary to her. She is an explorer by trade and passion, a lover of ships and transportation of any kind. As a result she likes to keep moving, finding new horizons and new experiences. It would be rather spectacular to see the end of the world, no? History: Noko felt she was always underestimated in her hometown, medieval Japan. She understood gender roles but she also had this insatiable passion. At first people thought she was just trying to run away, but it wasn't that there was anything she particularly wanted to run away from. She just felt there were much bigger things out there just waiting for her to see. One day, while stealing a ride on a transport ship, she had a dream. The contents of the dream were obscure but with it came the unmistakable message that the world was going to end. Her fear was confirmed when she met with seers of her time, who told her she could change the future. Noko wondered about this for most of her life in her time. Often she doubted but when she dreamed about it she would wake sweating and in tears. Gallivanting off with pirates caused her to become even rougher than she already was, and through several battles gained a few scars, most noticeable on her left cheek. Then an accident happened. The fates had ordained for her boat to be destroyed and for her to be frozen in ice. The specific place she was lost, was a place rich with minerals, keeping her by some magic mostly-perfectly preserved and more importantly, revivable... Weapon: Blade, long and short. Her wit. Likes: to feel that she's going somewhere. Goals. Dislikes: lack of direction. Also, tomatoes. Gaian Name: ZeineCharacter Name: Renzo CageEra of Birth: ModernGender: MaleAge: 20Appearance: Personality: Renzo is rather laid back, sometimes to the point that it comes in the way of his schoolwork. Not that he cares too much for school in the first place. He enjoys avoiding strenuous tasks, putting them off to do other more entertaining things. On the other hand if it was for a good cause he usually doesn't mind sacrificing a shred of his sanity. Despite his laziness he's a rather kind guy that would go out of his way to help those who seriously need it.History: The man is your typical young adult who is yet to get over his rebellious teen stage. Breaking minor laws, enjoying a laid back life, and putting it to the man decades after it stopped being cool. Renzo had the honor of being the son of an ancient lineage of spiritualists. At least he would have if the word 'honor' had been altered in the most horrifying of ways. His upbringing involved constant study of past lives, spiritual happenings, and books. Oh Lord, all those books. Hours upon hours through each and every day were spent reading and memorizing every line. Why? Hell if he knew. But he could tell you each and every type of spirit that was ever created by mishap or imagination. Despite the majority of his childhood consisting of being drowned by literacy and lectures, there was one thing he enjoyed: the training. Spiritualists by nature had built in defenses against the otherworldly such as detection and resistance against their influence, but that wasn't the extent of their abilities. Those that trained their minds and expanded their power were able to obtain newer and more advanced traits, some being specific to their wielder. Not only were the powers entertaining, but Renzo found peace of mind in the training. At times it was difficult, but he found enjoyment in the challenge. And again, despite his defiant ways he excelled in the art, managing to swiftly develop his abilities.Weapons: Dual Broadswords, Strong offensive and defensive abilities against unnatural beings, lesser abilities against worldly creatures/environmentsLikes: His jacket, TrainingDislikes: History lessons, Chores, BooksOther: The stronger the spectral energy, as it is described in his studies, of an otherworldly creature, the more powerful his own abilities become. In addition to his spiritual prowess his training also included martial arts and swordsmanship.
The necklace he wears is a symbol of spiritualists who has matured his powers, albeit different in some ways. Instead of enhancing his abilities it restricts them due to his high growth rate. He is unaware of this, believing that the necklace was given to him as a reward for becoming a full fledged spiritualist.Gaian Name: Purified AceCharacter Name: Altair CageEra of Birth: ModernGender: MaleAge: 26Appearance: AltairPersonality: Altair has always been a bit of a wise person. However, that never stopped him from joking around and having fun. He loves being caught in a moment with those around him, but is the first to turn serious should the situation arise. Otherwise, he is a relatively kind and gentle person.History: Being Renzo's older brother, Altair grew up next to him and watched him grow. He is a rather large man with a massive amount of strength. While he was always physically stronger than others, he was never really good with offensive magic. While his brother started picking up the magic quickly, he decided to study with him, in order to push his understanding even further. The more he studied, the more his knowledge grew...but unfortunately, his powers never really spawned into useable offensive abilities. However, his accent, attribute, and protective powers and abilities flourished and he began to delve into certain aspects of alchemy. He began transmuting and enchanting trinkets and charms to utilize his abilities with others.
He then began to notice how much Renzo's powers were growing. For fear of them becoming too strong for his brother's body to contain, Altair spoke with the Elders and transmuted a necklace, similar to that of the emblem of an accomplished spiritualist. The normal version of the necklace was meant to augment power. This one, however, was meant to suppress it. It was presented to Renzo as a reward for his training, unknowingly keeping him from destroying himself and everything else. Altair even soul bound it to his brother. Since he's never seen him take it off, he figures he won't try to, and thus never learn that it is bound to him.Weapon: A large stone mace.Likes: Talking, Learning, LaughingDislikes: Hatred, Smoke, DarknessOther: His Alchemy works much like one would expect from drawing transmutation circles to trigger an effect. However, he has gained knowledge and understanding in order to bypass the need for transmutation circles, and can now perform Alchemy without it.
His agility doesn't leave a lot to be desired. He has wrapped his mind around teachings from some monks in order to bend the laws of physics around him. He claims this has nothing to do with magic, that it's just a fact of life that everyone can overcome.

Feudal Era A gentle breeze grasped onto strands of hair, lightly tugging them along the young priestess's face. The girl, knowing it would be the last time she felt such a pleasant feeling, let out a soft, inward sigh. She had been walking towards a cliff face with a small group of body guards, priests, and priestesses for some time. And with each step she took, the small, semi hidden black hole of a cave grew bigger to her eyes. The area was chosen for the holy magic it contained, as well as the purpose of protecting the girl should unwanted guests stumble upon the area. Despite what others claimed its purpose to be, the young girl named Alicia felt it seemed more like a prison. After all, it was the spot she was to be encased in for unknown years in order to stop the prophecy of the world ending.
Within minutes, the small group slowly marched into the cave, leaving the last bit of light Alicia would see for a long time. It would have been difficult to see where to step if the guards hadn't brought a torch to light the way. The cavern seemed deeply embedded into the cave, yet there were no twists or turns. After what seemed like five long minutes of walking, Alicia's eyes could make out double stone doors ahead. The doors where engraved with a symbols and characters that the priestess could only guess was more than just for design. The group came to a sudden stop in front of the doors, one of the priests stepped ahead of the group. Raising his hand and chanting some words, the doors began to faintly glow before slowly opening. The noise was loud, causing Alicia to flinch from the unexpected pitch. Then the group began to move once more.
The room they entered into afterward was much larger than the actual walkway leading up to it. At the far side of the wall was a large platform with an engraved magical symbol of which Alicia had only seen once before in a book. The outward rim of the circle had a foreign language while the inward design had an intricate image of flames circling a sun and crescent moon etched in the center. Cutting across those images were chains that appeared to form an image of a star. In front of the platform stood two stone pillars used as torches to light the room. Before Alicia could study the room further, the small company moved forward. Two guards stayed behind to watch the door while two more stepped forward, lighting the stone pillars. Instead of the fire being bright red and orange, the girl noticed both torch fires turned to a deep bluish teal color. Alicia was then placed in the center of the circle. She was instructed to face the entrance and close her eyes as the priests and priestesses circled around her, making sure to keep a safe distance from the engravement on the floor.
Taking a deep breath, Alicia closed her eyes, as the chanting began all at once. The circle below her feet began to glow a bright blue color, causing an unnatural wind which slightly pushed Alicia's hair outward before lifting her body up from the ground. Soon afterward, as the chanting increased in volume, the wind began to wrap itself around the girl's body, increasing in speed until finally it dispersed as if shattered, leaving behind a light teal crystal that covered Alicia's entire body. The chanting had not ceased however, for as it continued, small black holes appeared from the floor and walls. Within moments, chain links shot out of the openings, wrapping themselves around the crystal to hold it in place. As the glowing began to die, the chanting slowed to a stop. The spell had worked, yet the one's who cast it were exhausted from it's power. Slowly but surely, they shuffled out of the room, and shut the stone doors, sealing the crystallized girl behind them.Modern Era A shrine had been built near a forest, due to the strange holy power that seeped out of the very soil itself. The cavern, hidden behind fallen rocks and overgrown roots, was all but forgotten. The only way leading to it seemed to be hidden by the overgrowth that came with the forest's creation. The girl sleeping within the crystal still remained undisturbed.

The sound of seawater parted by a ship drowns out most other sounds. The gentle sway soothing the young woman, Noko, who hitched a ride unbeknownst to the Captain. Night-watch man the ship beneath starry skies as the Captain now sleeps, and so does the young woman leaning against a box in the cargo bay, however, her slumber is unhappy; unrestful, and it is not simply because she is in the cargo bay and not in a cot.
Her skin is moist with cold sweat and her face contorted. She moans softly. "I will never see the earth, if it is destroyed!" But inside her lies a deeper fear, one she does not understand yet... She shakes awake, drawing in a sharp breath and sitting up properly. How could it be only a dream?
Early in the morn, a deckhand finds her and alerts the Captain. She is made part of the crew immediately- "If you want to be on this ship, you have to earn your place." So she begins work from then on.
One day, the hands of fate twist against the vessel. Noko is the only survivor in a harsh wasteland of ice. She finds refuge in a cave on the side of a mountain, happening to be colder inside than outside, but the air is at least still. As she walks deeper into the cavern, she finds herself growing stiff, as if the minerals and rocks are covering her body. With no light to see, that may as well be the case.
She doesn't feel it, does not even know it, but by some magic she has frozen completely in this place.
Later, as the ice melts, this same place becomes a shrine within which a girl is preserved in light blue crystal. Just a bit deeper in the caverns, the temperature drops. Noko might be seen through the layers of ice that surround her, if someone were to clear the dirt from the top layer that makes up part of the shrine's wall.
(If there is a problem with this, I will change it. Just let me know.)

"Be careful where you step"
A large man takes a step into an overgrown cave, his garment suggestive of a slight militant monk. Robes mixed with light armor and battle fatigues, a mix of dark blues and whites. A large stone cross sits on his back, with a handle at the bottom. His large hands reach up and grip rocks hear the roof of the cave as to keep ballance.
He and his brother had been sent to supress a spiritual disturbance nearby, and upon their return they found a cave that seemed to call them in...so, naturally, they decided to investigate.
"Would you like to take the front or the back?"
His voice is a medium baritone, strong and powerful, yet gently flowing. His long brown hair is tied in the back and the blue irises of his eyes grow thin as his pupils dilate to compensate for the lack of light.
"Renzo?"

Only a few steps behind stood a young man of slightly shorter stature dressed in a more casual excluding the strange necklace dangling around his collar. The coattails of his unbuttoned coat swayed in the light breeze that withdrew from the caverns depths giving its fire like design life. On his back holding the upper part of the coat against him were a pair of scabbards containing their respective broadsword.
Unlike his older brother who seemed to be eager to move through the cave before them, Renzo was hesitant. His eyes had shifted shut as to focus on the spiritual presence that was ever so obvious in the vicinity. He was much more sensitive to the unnatural in comparison to his brother which would explain why the two seemed to have apposing interests when it came to exploring the cave.
Becoming distracted when his name was called, realizing that a question had been asked yet he hadn't heard it into now, "Oh, well, lead on." The answer was more so an automatic reply than something that was considered. Renzo shook his head to clear his mind before speaking once more, "Just in case you aren't aware, there is something strange in this place. Which is twice as bad seeing as I'm using my standards here." He had the joy of being able to see, hear, and sense spirits of many kinds. Mostly the dead, which to him is pretty damn creepy. Especially when the beings are strong enough to maintain their actual form. It just isn't pretty. Despite all these encounters including more, this presence was not something he was familiar with. Most likely the brothers would have to approach with caution.

At the "lead on" comment, he simply turns and continues his movement over rocks and into the cave. Upon Renzo's next statement, he stops and turns back to look at his brother. Renzo spooked... Turning back to the cave, he continues walking, resulting in the cave getting darker. "I am aware, brother." His powers may not be as developed as Renzo's, but even he can feel something in the air. To see his usually gung-ho brother so hesitant makes his wonder a moment. The darkness of the cave is becoming a problem. He reaches into a pouch on his belt and produces a small amulet in the shape od a teardrop. Holding it up by it's chain, he closes his eyes for a second. Without a sound, it bursts into a brilliant blue flame, bringing light to the area. He then decides it's time to attempt to bring Renzo back to his usual charming self. "Just think, Renzo. What if there is some beautiful girl down there needing you to save her?"
They are dedicated spiritualists, yeah...but that didn't stop them from picking on each other...ever...

The spiritual presence bothered him greatly, only worsened by the fact that he couldn't see more than ten feet in front of him. He would be able to sense a change if it became aggressive and could distinguish its appearance, but he wouldn't be able to account for the surroundings. Most likely he was worrying for nothing. The entities of average to superior strength usually avoid humans, knowing full well of the consequences of meddling with the living. It was the lesser beings who were unable to maintain a standard intellect and caused most of the trouble. Whatever they were dealing with was definitely powerful, holding a thick and distinct aura he had never felt before. Yet at the same time it felt so familiar.
The young man was brought away from his thoughts by the sudden light, ridding him of a part of his worries. It wasn't until after Altair's comment that it had completely slipped his mind, "Now that's something to think about isn't it?" A small smile appeared on his face, his childish imagination going to work, "I can see it now. Some lovely maiden from the past frozen in time awaiting the 'Chosen One' who will awaken her, beginning the quest to save the world." Despite it being his own joke, Renzo couldn't help but laugh. He had often played with the idea that his existence was that of some greater importance. His powers would one day save the world: such a childhood dream. "Knowing my luck she'd probably be a hideous spirit that wanted to devour my soul by tickling me."

Good to have you back, brother. This is the brother he's known so well. "Yes, either that, or the 'Chosen One' will be me and you'll be our herald." He'd often told his little brother that it was he to be the Chosen One, just to pick on him. Altair had never been one to believe in the Chosen One of his brother's imagination. He laughs a bit at Renzo, and is about to make another statement about the possibility of a bear when he simply stops walking, the hair on the back of his neck standing on end... "Renzo, you feel that?" Holding the charm up to see ahead, Altair's eyes squint. His name doesn't mean "bird" for nothing... Ahead of them stands a very large door...this could be what's drawing them in...
