Biography:
Childhood- Ryouichi had a hard childhood. Only a few weeks after he was born, both his parents died in a mysterious accident. He would have died after that had it not been for a kind old couple that took Ryouichi in as if he were their own child. Despite their help and support, little Ryo still had many difficulties in his life. Obviously, he looked different and thus the other kids found him an easy target. Thus the rest of his childhood was filled with torment and misery from Ryo's peers. That is, up until his teenage years.
Teenager- After Ryouichi's hard childhood, he was a troubled teen. The old couple that had taken him in saw this, but there was little they could do. Everyday, they grew older and Ryouichi grew angrier. Even the children who used to poke fun at Ryo began to steer clear of him. It was as if everyone could sense trouble brewing inside of the young teenager. Until the day when everything changed.
At first it was a normal day. Ryouichi had gone out into the woods to wander, and eventually stumbled into a clearing. However, he was not alone. A group of Ryo's peers were out in the woods making mischief by seeing who could hit birds with stones as they flew out of their trees. While this frustrated Ryouichi, he knew that there was nothing he could do. But none of the teenagers knew that their mischief would awaken something far more intimidating than a troubled youth. One of the boys saw movement in the trees and instantly threw a rock at it while snickering. After a quiet thudding noise, a tentacle shot out and snapped the juvenile's spine.
Terrified, all of the boys backed away from the trees as a huge hollow jumped out of the forest. Ryouichi began to run until he looked back to see that the other boys were not doing the same. At that point, the hollow had already taken out more than half of the other boys. Not really thinking, Ryouichi jumped at the hollow and flew onto its back. Viciously attacking the hollow's head, Ryo actually managed to blind the hollow before it shrugged him off and escaped. Still flustered, Ryouichi left to go back home.
Several months passed after this experience and Ryouichi rarely left his home. This worried the old couple, however there was little they could do. But the next fall, Ryouichi noticed several of his peers decide to enroll in the Shinigami academy. Not wanting to remain a burden on the couple, Ryouichi figured that by joining the academy he would be able to survive on his own.
Academy life- Oddly enough, being at the academy was much easier for Ryouichi than being on his own. At first, he was not used to the school setting and thus had some difficulties, but eventually he got into the swing of things. In addition, his classmates could see past his physical appearance and see the person inside of him. Because of this, Ryouichi was quite popular among his classmates for his good humor and charm. For his first year, Ryouichi not only exceeded in his class works, but he also had begun moving his way up the social pyramid.
But in the end, things weren't all they cracked up to be. That summer, when Ryouichi returned to the old couple, he discovered that the old man had died. Now, the old woman was alone and barely surviving without a man to help and support her in her age. Sorting his priorities quickly, Ryouichi decided to skip the next school year to help the poor elderly woman. And so throughout the next year at the academy, Ryouichi stayed at home to take care of the woman who had helped and supported him throughout his childhood. However, this did not last long. Around January she became extremely ill. Ryouichi called the doctor, who told him that she was certainly going to die. Throughout her two week illness, Ryouichi never left her side. In the end, her final words to Ryouichi were, "Live your own life. Don't worry about ours."
After the woman said this to him, Ryouichi immediately returned to the academy. He was allowed back, and quickly learned his studies for the year so that he wouldn't get held back. For the next several years at the academy, Ryouichi remembered the words of the old woman and pushed forward to graduate at the top of his class. At this time, he was accepted as the 9th squad Vice-Captain.
Division life- Ryouichi found his place quickly in the 9th squad. Once again he was popular among his squad memebers and easily fit in. However Ryouichi was also a good and strong leader. Throughout his time as a Vice-Captain, Ryouichi worked and trained hard and eventually his Captain decided to teach him Bankai. Ryouichi listened well and obeyed whatever his captain told him to do with his training. After five years, Ryo had mastered Bankai and now was one of the strongest Vice-Captains.
It was during this time that one of Ryouichi's good friends abandoned the Gotei 13. This friend had, in fact, invited Ryouichi to join him however Ryo had declined. All Shinigami knew that deserting was punishable by death, but this did not phase Ryouichi's friend or his group of rebels. A group of Shinigami from another squad were sent out to hunt down this group, but Ryouichi knew that they were heading in the wrong direction. Thus Ryouichi found them on his own and killed his friends on his own. Though upset, Ryouichi knew it was the right thing to do. Later, he discussed the affair with his captain, who pointed out that for the rebels, it could have been considered a kindness to be killed by an old friend rather than a system of governing that they despised.
After this issue, Ryouichi did not foresee what his captain decided to do. His captain recommended Ryouichi for the open captain position in the third squad. Several other captains endorsed this recommendation, and thus Ryouichi was tested for the position. He passed the exam easily, and thus was the new Third Squad Captain.
The third squad took more time to get used to Ryouichi, and thus for the first month of being a captain Ryouichi felt extremely outcast. One day, his captain came up to him and told Ryouichi that everything comes with time, and that eventually his squad would become used to him. These words of advice helped Ryouichi, and thus he only worked harder as Captain.
With time, his squad did come to admire and enjoy Ryouichi as their captain. Now, he is a powerful leader who orders his squad in a voice that commands respect. But he is also a powerful leader that can be the life of the party and tell a few too many bad jokes after having a few too many drinks...

Lance 3: The Reaper's Reiatsu- This is the final lance attack. This attack is rarely used, due to the fact that when used Ryouichi is extremely vulnerable due to his lack of reiatsu. The armor creates a lance which is made of compressed reiatsu. It combines both of the previous lances and can drain about half of a low-level opponent's reiatsu (Vice-Captain or lower). This attack requires a massive amount of reiatsu and can be used once per bankai. In addition, no other reiatsu attacks can be used by Ryouichi again for the duration of the fight (includes all lances and specials)
