 Gonen felt that he had been having a very productive day. He had made sure his sister was in a good mood, and watched his mother go off to work. Gonen took a great deal of pride in how he took care of his family. He was the only male in the family and to him that meant that he had certain responsibilites to ensure that his mother and sister were well taken care of.
Gonen walked through the pride's lands. He was getting older and knew that soon he would be a full member of the pride, one that would hold a rank and do a job for the pride. It was very excited for him. Today Gonen was hoping to find someone to talk to, he had spent so much time as a cub feeling responisible for his family, not that his mother didn't do a great job, but now now he knew it was time to make friends. Not just friends but as the lion grew he began to realize he had a keen interest in females.

Dainty paws moved tiredly across the rough terrain, easily displaying the lioness' anxiety by their awkward pacing. And the anxiety level was high, despite the girl's passive expression as she gazed across the grounds. Sure there was no one around to pester or disturb her peace, but that's what set her off balance. These lands were too quite and bare, at least from this location. Though appearances only reveal so much. For it was the heavy scent in the air that was the core of her fears. The smell of a lion's pride....and she was trespassing.
And so she moved very cautiously, keeping all her senses alert for any scouts. She hadn't the energy to run from a pack of angry lions should she be discovered. However, her desire for water was just as strong as her fears, and it was that alone that moved her further. She couldn't see it, but her nose told her that there was a source of water somewhere nearby. Now if she could just hurry and find it....

Gonen spoted the unfamiliar lioness moving along the edge of the pride's land and a smile came across his face. A new friend perhaps, someone joining the pride, someone else he could help care for. He moved elegantly towards the lioness, his face told that he was friendly, not angry at all. He was a little confused about what he should do with a new commer, as after all he wasn't an adult and therefore he wasn't able to bring her into the pride, but none the less he felt a need to great her.
"Why hello there." he said gently, he wanted to make the lioness feel welcome so he was doing his best to sound and look welcoming, not that he could possibly be considered otherwise. He sat in front of her, keeping his stature small.

Black ears tipped and her nose tickled as a scent crossed her path. That was her first signal, and then her dry eyes were able to focus on a moving gray form in the distance. Ugh, but her senses were too exhausted and overheated to keep up with her anxieties, and so she stood her ground at a crouch. At this point, all she could gather was that the other was definitely a male and definitely a predator. Not good for her.
That was until the other got close enough to clearly see, and he too was crouching down. 8o; Feeling obliged and shy, the lithe lioness replied with a hushed "Hello".

Gonen smiled the lioness seemed quite nice. He moved towards the lioness again keeping his posture low he didn't want to intimidate her but it was nice to see someone new, perhaps someone who needed his care, to love, Gonen was the type to love anyone who needed it.
"Well its nice to meet you. My name is Gonen" he told her politely. "You aren't from this area are you?" Gonen didn't recognize this lioness at all but he found her to be very striking. He hoped that he wasn't being to forward.

"Gonen?" Hm, well that was nothing like her brothers names. Though she shouldn't really be all surprised, she was in foreign lands with foreign bloodlines after all. Her blue eyes blinked before glancing away, as if embarrassed for her obvious newcomer appearance. As least she wasn't being snarled at or chased away. But this Gonen was only a youth like herself...who knew how the adults of the pride might react.
"I am afraid that I am not. Home is far from here, from what I remember." She scouted the distant horizon at this detail, as if hoping she could see her destination clear as day. But that was only a hope. Drawing her attention back to the present, the lioness introduced herself. "My name is Shinda'nohinei. Sorry it isn't short and simple to pronounce." But she was a timid girl, and didn't often give her nicknames to strangers.

Gonen smiled, he couldn't imagine being far away from his home lands, he after all barely made it out of the pride's territory. His home was where he loved to be, and this was where all his important others were. "You must be very brave to be travelling all this way on your own." he told the young female, he was truthfully very impressed.
When she told him her name he smiled, "Shinda'nohinei" Gonen repeated doing his best to pronounce it correctly, she was right it wasn't easy but he did his best not to show how hard it was for him. "Your name is beautiful, short and easy to say mean nothing." he said wanting to make her feel good about her name.
"So are you travelling for any specific purpose?" he asked her. Perhaps she was looking for someone or something, he was very intruiged by this travellor, he was sure she would have stories to tell.

Her black ears pressed back as he made mention of her bravery. She wished it was that way, though it was anything but. She had lost all scent and sight of her family in a massive dust storm, and she had to wonder if it was the same for any of her brothers. But she left that detail to herself and only nodded to his compliment. Better not to let herself appear weak or defenseless.
"Thank you, and you've done well to pronounce it." It brought the faintest smile to her features at his effort. Then she blinked as her tail swept in the dust. "Well, the last thing I remember clearly was my family and I going to our father's pride. Though where it is I haven't a clue, since we've never truly been there. All I know was that it was in the swamps." Perhaps her family was already there, waiting for her? Maybe. "It would have been nice, finally meeting my father." The very idea made her deflate. 8c

Gonen listened quietly as the female told her story, it was a sad story. She didn't have her family or her father, she had never met her father. "I can understand." Gonen said quietly, "I never knew my father. It is a strange thing to happen in my pride." His pride was all about family.... none the less Gonen had no idea who is father.
"I am sorry to say I don't know where the swamp lands are. All of I know of around here is desert." he spun around as he spoke, "lots and lots of desert." he chuckled lightly. "I wish I could point you in the right direction, my home is a desert like too, I could show you where that is?" Gonen offered lightly. He wasn't sure if the pretty striped lion would be interested in seeing his home, but maybe she wanted a home though?
