The day was warm and calm, Ivory's pricked ears could not hear a sound around him. Atleast not one of a Soquili. his chosen thicket was softly humming with the sounds of life and wind. Even a rare squirrel could be heard chewing away at a nut. Though most sounds were that of birds - that of their song. The soft melodies all entwined into a symphony that rang with its beauty in the young colt ears. His mouth quivered with excitement as he stopped the soft trot his had been in. He bit his lip, took a few looks around in anxiety. Then he opened his two sealed lips and song flew out. It was a soft, sad song that the pink colt.
"You live behind walls i can't trace. And windows that you will never break. Tell me you love me. You hide form yourself like a ghost, for reasons that i will never know. Tell me you need me...
And she walked out of the light...light... Black makeup as always. God you smell like a rose!
You can't fight the world on your own. Or the dreams that you build in your head, Tell me you need me. Like angles that wake up alone, Lost like a bird without bones... Tell me you love me!"

Winter moved through the trees content at listening to the birds chatter and the wind rustle some leaves. In the distance she heard a familiar melody. She started to hum along and only then realized where she had heard it before. It can't be! Her eyes widened with the thought.
The young blue foal raced towards the song in anticipation of finding her friend. It had been a long while since the two had said goodbye. There would be so much to tell him.
She passed through a thicket and slowed her gait now that she could clearly hear the lyrics. Winter couldn't quite see who sang the song, some bushes cut off her view. Nonetheless, she burst out into song with what she could remember of the tune.
"Have you come here to hide? Have you come here to hide?
Like angels that wake up alone Lost like a bird without bones Tell me you need me Tell me you need me You live like a window... you live like a window..."

His fine tuned ears jumped quickly behind him, where the extra song started to come from. His lips quickly glued together once more and the pink colt's blood ran frozen. He stood in cold fear for a moment, hoping his song was not loud enough to dispel his hiding spot. He struggled to force himself to look around, unconsciously pressing his small hooves hard into the ground with terror. Even in his frozen stiff state, he could hear one of his aunts many lectures - Don't freeze up like a possum, keep still. Have your wits about you and look around. If there was a true danger you would be able to sense it! Could he sense it? or was that just his imagination and fear running overtime again as they usually did. He took in a deep, quiet breath and looked around. His vision going in and out of focus at different parts of the thicket. There was nothing arou - but wait! His golden eyes widened, he could see a clear blue color slightly peaking through some of the leaves. He collected his voice together and tried to call out, "Any one there?". It took three different attempts until his small voice was actually audible.

The song abruptly stopped and she could hear more than see the other stop and dig their heels into the dirt. It was a few moments before the other one spoke. Winter replied without hesitating, "Yep, I'm Winter."
She peered about the thicket wondering if she could go around to see the singer. A small break in the thicket appeared to be her only option. The young foal trotted over to it in her normal cheerful manner, she was happy to have found someone to talk to even though it was clearly not her friend, Rock. Winter managed to squeeze her head and shoulders through the thick underbrush but it snagged her back legs. She wiggled and twisted to no avail but at least now she could see the owner of the lovely singing voice. He was a young colt, different from most soquili she had seen. "Hi! I...ummm....seem to be stuck." She gave him an embarrassed grin.

There was an answer! And Ivory's spine rose up in shock and the short hair on the back of his neck and along his now-arched spine stood up higher. The muscles in his young neck tightened and he tried to stand completely still. Hoping that, even with his extremely bright coat, he could become invisible. But just as he managed to squeeze his golden eyes closed with unreasonable fear the shot open on their own when the voice came back. He stared in front of him dumbfounded by the sight.
A young blue filly, though older than himself, had half appeared out of a thicket. Her front end stood right infront of Ivory, while the rest seemed left behind in the shadows.
"Ermmm...." he stumbled out. "Ah!" He cried, realizing she did need his help. "Sorry sorry, yes! Help, yup, your stuck." He blabbered on as he quickly approached her. Leaving his childish fears behind as he went to see if he could pull her out. "Ummm..."
His eyes dared around uncertainly and then he began to bite and pull at the branches surround the foal's midsection until he made a sizable hole for her.

"Thanks," she said sheepishly. Winter grunted as she finally managed to wiggle to freedom with the colt's help. She shook her coat free of the debris, but a small branch seemed to have found a home in her mane. She gave up after it refused to dislodge after a few good shakes. Oh well, she told herself.
Winter turned her attention back to the colt. She cocked her head to the side in question. "You have such a lovely singing voice. Very soft and gentle. Do you come out here often to sing?"

Ivory couldn't help but blink and blush deeply at the filly's question. It was blunt, but simple. But it still embarrassed him. Even though he knew perfectly well she heard him singing, he still hoped she hadn't. "Ah well..yes, some times. And th-thank you." He stuttered, acknowledging the compliment at the end.
He eyed the branch in the filly's snow white mane. The color was near-identical to that of his aunt's and his two cousins'. Thoughts of them popped up, but he snapped back into reality when a bird suddenly flew off of a nearby tree. "Would you like me to take that out for you?" he asked quietly, seeing that it seemed even more stuck than Winter had been a few moments ago.

"Oh yes, please. Otherwise I'd probably end up having a whole nest in there." Winter laughed, imagining exactly that.
She bent her head down a bit and to the side to make it easier for him. Her eyes rolled up to look at the bright soquili. "Thanks so much...erm...What's your name?" she asked the colt.

ivory giggled at the thought and also saw the image in his mind.
"My name?" He suddenly gasped, appalled with himself for forgetting his manners in all his meekness. "Im very sorry, I am Ivory." He smiled sheepishly. HE stepped closer and took a firm grasp of the branch with his teeth. He took a breath in, feeling out tightly twisted it was in the filly's thick mane. And quickly jerked his head back in an attempt to free it. Though, he had pulled back with a bit too much strength and not only did the branch get out, it also sent the both of them tripping and falling to the ground. Ivory falling on his back, Winter falling right on top of him.

Winter took note of his name, "Ivory. It fits you perfectly." She waited patiently -as much as Winter could be- for Ivory to pick out the branch. Her eyes widened as she felt him tug with an enormous burst of strength that flung her forward.
With a thud she found herself lying on top of the colt. Winter's cheeks flushed purple as she struggled to get up and out of the awkward position. But all she managed was to get their legs tangled and to flop over on the ground next to him.
Her mis-matched eyes met Ivory's and she couldn't help but laugh, despite her cheeks still a shade of violet. "At least it's out! Ha ha ha!" Her eyes started to well up as she threw her head back laughing.

As soon as he felt the force of his tug throwing him back, and the force of gravity pulling him down, ivory gasped and tripped over his legs awkwardly as he unsuccessfully tried to stop his fall.
His cheeks immediately flushed a bright red when he felt the joyful filly's body falling on his own, and when she stumbled up and feel down next to him, his embarrassed blush only intensified. Their eyes locked, and he wondered if she could hear his heart pounding. To him it sounded as loud as a marching band. "Ah I am so s-" but his awkward, mumbled apology was cut off when Winter began to laugh. Ivory couldn't help but freeze and blink in utter surprise. Winter's laugh enveloped him in his own fit of giggles quickly and together they lay on their sides laughing, sides splitting, and tears touching the corners of their tightly closed eyes.

Ivory's laughter fueled her own and the silly foal only stopped when she was finally out of breath. Gasping she tried to talk, "Goodness...you were strong... Was not expecting...that."
Winter let out a breath that calmed her down enough to breathe normally. "Oh," She realized that the two were still entangled. "Here let me move..."
The blue filly wiggled free from Ivory's legs. It wasn't difficult now that she wasn't so startled. Winter stood and shook her dirt-coated mane and back. She remained a bit dusty but a trip to the pond would change that. She stretched her legs and found that they were sore. "Ooh...my legs are a bit sore... How are you?"

Ivory followed her lead and also picked himself up. Standing on his legs once more he stretched out a bit. "Your legs?" He blinked and checked if any part of him hurt. Nothing did apart form the slight bump on the side of his head which had touched the ground first; but it was nothing to worry about. "Nope, I seem to be fine. Im sorry about pulling on it so hard, I guess I don't know my own strength yet." He added, blushing and his golden eyes looking down embarrassed.
He pricked his pink ears over to his new friend and ventured another question, worry touching his quiet words. "Will your legs be alright? I hope you didn't hurt any muscles."

"Oh it's alright. It was quite impressive, and the twig did get out of my mane." She smiled broadly at him, and shook her freed hair for emphasis.
Winter could hear the worry in Ivory's words, and instantly she wanted to reassure him. Though truth be told, she was perfectly fine except for the minor bumps and bruises - and she got those normally so this was no different. "Oh no. I'm fine really! They just need a good stretch." The filly did just that, "See all better."
She quickly changed subjects. "The song you were singing, what is it called? I can't remember."

A relieved sigh escaped him just as she finished reassuring him that she was completely fine. He nodded his head and smiled, feeling a bit silly for worrying over something like that. Even if he had tugged a touch too hard, there was little chance that he would have hurt her.
Ivory snapped out of his whirling thoughts with her question. He blinked in surprise and asked his internal question, "You can't remember? Does that mean you know it, or have heard it before?" Something in his memory suddenly jerked to the front; His father, Rockstar, was the only that he knew knew the song other than himself. He wondered if Winter had met his father, or knew someone else that sang. That latter idea made him even more curious! "It is entitled Windows. It is by a two legger group of singers that call themselves Thriving Ivory." He hoped giving her some details to the song sparked her memory and made her want to share her encounter with it with him.
