A large, grumpy man shuffled into a waiting room. Several, equally large guards lined the room, keeping a watchful eye on their leader. The city had been oddly quiet for the past few months. No rebel activity, no riots at the locked gates. Not even a rash of petty theft. Rigibaldi almost wanted to reward the people. But it was against his nature, against his law, to give the people something to hope for. Irritated, he paced across the plush carpet, his favorite luxury.
Only guards may post that they are in the room with Rigibaldi. The rest of you are either planning an assaination attempt or just gathering in the square below for the odd event that Rigibaldi is about to announce. Thank you all who participate!

Hearing that Rigibaldi was going to make an anouncement, Cha stood in the square with a knife in his backpack. He would wait until after the showing to strike. He was curious, and he knew that might get him killed. But it was his dog side, so why not?

Sofie walked the back streets of the city. She knew it would be easier to get the city square this way and a good way to stay out of the heat of the summer sun. She had heard on the Tv in at the supermarket that their tyrent of a leader ,Rigibaldi ,was going to make an anouncement. It would probley be a new law or someone getting punished. As she came out of one of the ally ways the sun was hot in the sky and her inner lioness was starting to act up a bit. A small brezze seemed to flow around the city squal and make her long golden locks dance. "hmm how long will he makes us wait?" she asked herself.

Cha turned and saw a girl next to him. "It might be a little over an hour. Do you know what this is about?" He asked. He had been waiting for a few hours, and every 30 minutes he checked the positioning of the guards to make sure this wasn't an attempt to kill the people. Just in case, he moved the knife to a better place to pull out.

Jace stood in the crowd, arms folded across his chest with a rather annoyed look on his face. No, he wasn't very active in the rebellion, but he still cared and part of caring was hearing every little ridiculous statement that came out of Rigibaldi's fat mouth. That, and he needed to get out of the base, see some sunshine or he'd become a vegetable.
A conversation to his left caught his attention, "It might be a little over an hour. Do you know what this is about?" the kid asked after turning to another in the crowd. Jace invited himself in, sure they wouldn't mind as they already seemed strangers. "It's because it's been quiet, it's pissing him off. Making him uneasy," he said coming around to face them. He wasn't usually so observant, but when he knew something he knew it. "He thinks something big is coming." The last part was only a guess, an assumption. He had no way of knowing what was true or not, this guy was both predictable and unpredictable. He doubted even his guards knew what he wanted to say at this announcement today.
There you go kitty, told you I would soon. : D

Seeing the new guy, Cha turned and thought about what the new person said. "These guards still make me nervous. And how do we know that Rigibaldi isn'y paranoid enough to try and kill us all?" He asked. Hoping that no one would notice, Cha opened the secret opening in his bag to shift the knife to his pocket. Ok, the opening was really a hole, but he knew how to use it to keep stuff conceiled.

Koda shivered as she was hustled into the square with the others of the city. Rigibaldi was a monstrous force. Many thought him not to be reckoned with and she was one of them. The damned rebels were sure to try something; they always did. Last time there was a full out brawl. Not fun. The bruises on her arms and legs had lasted for weeks. The girl was concerned with the mass of melds stuffed in the area.
The coyote's eyes wandered the square, looking for marks. Unfortunately, anybody who had money was up in the cool balconies of the other buildings that bordered the meeting place. Her tail and ears twitched, her matching sandy hair pulled into a tight ponytail. The townsfolk were loud, but in a whispered and fearful sort of way.

Jace looked at the two for a moment, taking them in with his ever changing eyes. They never quite stayed the same color, it was always a mix and had been that way since he first contracted the virus and chameleon DNA. He shook his head slowly, "Then he won't have anyone to pick on," he said, not sure if he really meant it or not. He was certain Rigibaldi wouldn't go full on genocide. "He likes to control things, and if there's no one to control. . ." he continued, not sure what to say next, "He won't do anything like that." He knew his brother was going to be out, planning something no doubt. Jude was never one to pass up an opportunity. And this was almost an invitation from Rigibaldi himself, almost.
Jude slinked through the crowds, pushing through people and knocking them aside rather roughly. "'Scuse me. Coming through, pardon." He was trying to get to the front, to see whatever there was to be seen, and even the cat in him wasn't agile enough to pass through unscathed. He knew Rigibaldi would appear on a balcony flights up, but he wouldn't miss a chance to hurt the man in any way, perhaps not physically. But with all the attention on keeping his flesh safe in this public appearance, everyone would care less about everything behind the entrance, which was indeed guarded as he could see when he made it to the front of the pulsing crowd. It was thicker here, harder to breathe almost.
Amber eyes darted around the place, looking for something, or someone. Perhaps one of his comrades in the rebellion. He was sure he wasn't the only one having the same thoughts on an inside view of the tower. He just hoped this time would be a little more orderly than the last, a little more effective. One of the younger recruits always managed to start things.
SIN! Yays.

Cha thought about that for awhile. Finally, after coming to something, he said with a smile, "He would still have bugs and his guards to boss around. Although, guards don't listen very well." With all of the talking, Cha's meld was going insane. He was finding it harder and harder to stand still. He was also slightly nervous, so that didn't hellp either. His meld always had more control when he was nervous. Plus, with the many people in the square, there were a lot of half cats. And dogs hate cats.

Sofie looked up to the guy who told her a little over an hour. "No clue, probably just another law or something..." she said then turned to the other guy that had joined the conversation. She let out a small sigh, someone had a weapon with them and she could smell the metal. She wouldn't say anything but she hoped that the rebels wouldn't start anything. Like the new comer had said things had been quite and she herself liked that. Less fighting meant more life and less death. She nodded her head in agreement with the new comer. "Yep. If we're all dead then its no fun for him." she commented. She then looked to her side when someone bumped into her. The guy smelted of feline, though she wasn't so sure what type. Her golden amber eyes meet the bystanders ,then fell to the ground. "Its fine" she told the man as he walked away. She then turned back to the other two men she talked to moments ago. "Guards listen if they want their pay check, but out lovingleader more then likely won't kill us,more people around, the more his ego goes up,which makes the fat man happy. The name is Sofie,by the way." she said and offered both her hands to shake with the others. The winds yet again blew, making her long golden locks dance about behind her and her lion scent was passed around.

"Oh, hi Sofie. My names Cha." He told her and shook her hand. He smelled cat, no, lion, and it was hard to control his meld. He couldn't let go. If he did it would surely lead him to trouble. So he held on and used enough of his willpower. LLet me loose, just for a minute, then I will be free! Please! his meld begged. He was glad it couldn't become a vision, or he might give in to the puppy eyes. But he was safe, since it couldn't.

Sofie smiled and shook Cha's hands. "Its nice to meet you!" she said sweetly. She couldn't exactly tell but his meld was,but she was sure she would be able to figure it out soon enough. She gave a small sigh, she could tell that they were able to smell her scent. She was still farily new to the life of someone with a meld. A lot of the others she had come to know were able to hide what animale they were, even if the scent blew, she on the other hand was still learning.

A small commotion drew the bear-like man's eye to a small side door. A pair of guards had pinned one of his rabbits to the wall. Amused, Rigibaldi strode over and motioned his guards down. The rabbit-boy dropped to his feet, both gasping for air and thankful for the release. A heavy boot connected with his gut out of nowhere and the bear-man that controlled the city kicked the boy out of the room and down the stairs. Damn boy. He had almost mustered up the voice and horror he had needed to make this announcement. Now he would have to start all over again.

The blonde coyote slid through the crowd, catching a familiar scent of big cat. It was odd to find one in the city, but she had met it once before. The coyote wasn't happy about it but the girl wanted to find him again. Something about a morbid curiosity that was out of place on a dog.
The scent ran warm, but with the amount of people in the crowd, everything was warm. Koda was not happy about it. Not one bit. The warmth made her think of her mother's laboratory. Without thinking, the girl tried to follow the scent, but it wafted in front of her, teasing the poor thing before disappearing.

Jace shrugged at the boy's suggestion. Guards were guards - loyal - Rigibaldi liked to have fun with the people. Bossing around guards isn't the same as locking up bits and pieces of the population. But he didn't say anything. "It's fine," Jace heard the girl say, voice turned away. He locked eyes with his brother for a split second before he disappeared into the crowd again. "Yeah, well, I think somethin'll happen soon," he predicted in a low voice.
The two introduced themselves then. Sofie and Cha, apparently. Cha seemed a little put off by something, but he couldn't place it exactly. Being part reptilian he didn't have the sense of smell as some of the other melds; cats and dogs, even some of the birds had the better of him in that respect. "I'm Jace," he said, adding his name to the bunch.

Jude looked up at the tall building, the underside of the balcony where Rigibaldi would make his 'announcement', but it was floors up. A door opened on the side of the building in an alley, a figure being thrown out and into the street. It was a boy - rabbit - and he ran off quickly as the door shut again. There was a guttural cry from the people. Jude could see the shifting of the crowd, moving towards one point and circling it. A fight had broken out near the front of the building. Rigibaldi's guards would be there to break it up soon. It was probably something sparked over a petty remark.
Jude moved away from that group, back into the crowd. He hadn't been looking for anyone in particular, just someone from the rebellion that might have had an idea formed of some sort. But he picked up on another scent. Dog - or something dog-like, but also familiar.
It drew him in circles until finally he saw her with not ten pulsing bodies between. He'd met her only once, briefly. The guards had intervened and he never really got to the bottom of anything that day. People pushed around him and he found himself being shoved towards the coyote meld. "You," he said, "I know you from somewhere." Truth was he remembered the account to the day, but he couldn't see into her mind. She might think he was crazy if he came out accusing her of being someone she might not actually be.
