AIM Log -- Nuxaz & Felyn
Taiga & Makri

Taiga was in new, and thus unfamiliar territory, due to the move he and his siblings made when his father came and retrieved them from his mother. The memory was neither pleasant nor unpleasant due to the fact that he had been happy to see his father(whom he had only met once before) but his mother hadn't even come to say goodbye to them. Only his brother, Charon, who was remaining with the crazed lioness came to make his farewells. While he had been sad he had seen the look of determination that his father wore and found that he was excited to be leaving. He could not explain his feelings, he only knew that it was a start of a new chapter in his life.

His pale blue eyes, just a shade darker than the main color of his fur, scanned the trees around him while he stretched his limbs out. He was quite pleased with himself, despite having not actually accomplishing something yet, as he prepared himself for a hunt. Since they had entered the thick foresty-terrain Taiga and his siblings had remained rather quiet and had the tendency to keep to themselves. Especially with the even colder exterior that their father presented them with. He only said something when it was to bark an order or to snap the quartet back in to line.

Now, now Taiga had a task to complete. One give to him by the male he looked so much like. And he was determined to complete it, he wanted to make his father proud. He wanted to make the budding pride he now belonged to proud. Hell he just wanted to please someone. There, that was when he spotted the waterbuck grazing off to his left. He dropped himself low to the ground and slowly inched his way forward preparing himself.

Makri was starving. She couldn't remember the last time she had eaten but according to her body it had been quite long enough. Just like normal Makri style, she couldn't just hunt down a small meal to feed herself either - she had to go find something large and extravagent to show off her hunting prowess.

And so there she was, hunched down in the thick grasses, her dark fur blended well into the shadows as she stalked a waterbuck in the distance. She was hunched down, her muscles tensed and her body ready to spring, growing ever closer and closer. Then, suddenly, the waterbuck became far too aware of.. something.

Makri bared her teeth as its head whipped up and looked.. not quite in her direction. At least not at first. It looked too far to the right, then whipped its head around to her. Before she could even react it leaped away and off into the distance, too far for her to ever catch up to. She snarled loudly in irritation and stood up at once, narrowing her eyes on the surroundings to see if she could pick out what had spooked it.

"You there, fool!" Her words were a hiss as she narrowed her eyes on a blue lion not too far from herself. Were two lions just too much tension not to alert the prey beast?

Taiga had a hard time understanding what was happening. All he knew was that he was hidden in the grass(well as hidden as a blue lion could be) and he was sure he was downwind when the waterbuck somehow managed to catch sight of him. Okay, so maybe it wasn't him that it saw but maybe just a reaction of some of the movement he had created. Then it whipped it's head away from him, which frankly was much more confusing to him. That was until he saw another figure, another feline.

The blue male pouted slightly as he picked himself up off the ground as the angry female steadily moved towards him. He just stared at her as if he was trying to figure out why she was upset or what was going through her head. Then she spoke and he shrank back a bit. "Y-yes?" he stuttered, chin pressed against is neck and ears flattened against his head. "D-did I d-do s-s-somet-thing wrong?" he nearly whimpered.

Here he was just trying to please his father and found himself pissing someone else off. Awesome.

Makri's lip curled back in what could only be described as disgust as she heard that stuttering answer. Great, a young idiot with a stutter had chased off her best chance for a meal. Now she could either give him a good talking to or just leave. Was it even really worth it? Nevermind the fact that she had probably been just as much to blame for scaring that waterbuck off as he was.

"Of course you did," she hissed, taking a few steps closer to him just so he could actually see the anger radiating from her eyes. Then, a growl from her stomach reminded her that she wasn't actually that interested in berating brats this afternoon.

"You're just lucky that I'm too hungry to give you a real lesson on respecting your elders," she followed this with a sneer, then began stalking forward - both in his direction, but also aiming for the fields beyond him.

He wanted to protest that it wasn't his fault, er that it wasn't only his fault but the dark purple female was very intimidating, terrfying really. "It wasn't just me," he mumbled almost defensively. "But can I help fix it? I didn't mean to scare it away," he told her scrunching up his face.

"I didn't even know you were there," he told her hoping it help calm her down. He didn't know much of the female. Actually he didn't know anything at all except that he had messed up and as a result needed to fix it.

Which was totally fine with him because he didn't like the idea of someone being upset with him, he'd fix it. He had to. "We can probably catch something bigger together than alone?" He told her cracking a small grin. "I wanna make it up to you!" he stated firmly. "I want to fix it.

Makri almost whirled around as that small mumble reached her ears, but managed to restrain it to a small jerk of her head. She really didn't feel like tolerating Pushy McPusher right now, but the hunger in her belly was making her come around a little more to his way of thinking.

Two lions really were better than one, even if one of them was a sniveling little brat.

"Alright, get over here brat," she said with a hiss in her tone, "and I don't want to hear anymore of this nonsense about it not being your fault." Had she really convinced herself that she had been perfectly innocent through the whole ordeal? Probably, that was just Makri's way of thinking.

Without even really waiting for him to catch up, she started to tromp off towards the fields she'd been originally heading for. Her muscles were tense and there was a snarl on her face, but she hadn't tried to kill him yet. "Come on, now, I'm not going to bloody tell you again."

Taiga's face lit up when she stated that she would allow him to help her. Oh good! It meant she wasn't too angry with him, at least he hoped that was it. "Thank you!" He chirped, a bit too loudly, bounding over to her side eager to please the purple lady. He frowned just the slightest bit at her statement about saying it wasn't his fault because he hadn't said anything other than the fact that he wanted to fix it.

He pushed it out of his thoughts quickly however because he decided that it wasn't worth pointing out. After all the purple lady was really quite scary. He certainly didn't want to upset her further. He wasn't sure if he could handle her being actually...angry. "Thank you, thank you miss! I really appreciate the fact that you're willing to let me make it up to you!" He told her with an enthusiatic nod. He scrambled to catch up with her.

He was so eager to please her.

She snorted a little at the way he was thanking her. For the first time since she'd stumbled upon this unfortunate little bit of walking bad luck, she wasn't completely and absolutely irritated by him.

"That's all fine and dandy, kid, but the first thing you need to learn is how to shut up so you don't scare all the prey beasts away before we even get to them." She cut a rather nasty look down at him, but it could have been nastier given the circumstances. He was annoying and pushy, but he was also a bit of a kiss a**. Everyone enjoyed a kiss a** now and again.

"There's probably a herd of antelope up ahead, grazing near the watering hole. It's a pretty common feeding ground for those numskulls." She paused to look down at him, eyeing him up and down as if she thought he was just a weight tied around her ankles. "Anyway, when we get close, you need to shut up and get down, got it?"

"Yes ma'am!" he told her immediately clamping his mouth shut afterwards. He was determined to please her. He wouldn't rest or leave her alone until he did! He was far too attached to the idea of making everyone around him happy. He just couldn't let it go.

He listened ever so intently to her words nodding here and there. He was no stranger to the game of hunting, he had much practice these last few days. His father had put him in charge of hunting, with was fine with him, he was happy to do anything asked of him.

"Yes ma'am," he whispered to her, his tail flicking behind him anxiously.

She watched him in silence for a few more moments before she nodded to herself and continued on in the direction she had been heading. He seemed eager enough, and that could mean one of two things: he'd listen, or he'd over compensate and screw it up. If he screwed up, he'd definitely be getting that talking to she'd promised him earlier.

As they got closer and closer to the watering hole, the scent of prey beasts began to hang thickly in the air. Makri cast a sharp look at him and then hunched down on her legs, moving forward carefully through the tall grasses.

She paused a short distance away, staring at the herd as it milled about. She could easily spot a few younger antelope, and some older ones as well. She turned her head to look at him and jerked it sharply to her left, indicating that she wanted him to get closer. "Look," she started in a very soft whisper, "we're going to take on that older one on the outskirts of the herd there - do you see it?"

Taiga was an over enthusiastic adolescent but he was no fool. He knew when he had to reign himself in and he was hopefully going to do just that. When she stopped so did he. He took a moment to survey the herd, letting his eyes scan over them before flickering over to the older lioness. He stood there quietly as though he was awaiting direction from her. He stood just a few feet behind her and only moved forward when she motioned him to. If he was good at one thing it was following orders.

He pressed his lips together as he lowered himself closer to the ground. He watched her face and followed the direction of her gaze. Glancing back at her he spoke very ,very softly, "yes, what would you like me to do?"

Well, she'd give him one thing at least - he could listen when she told him to.

"I'm going to sneak around as closer as I can get to the other side of the herd, then I'm going to try and chase that one back in this direction." She glanced back up at where the herd of beasts were milling about, as if to reassure herself they hadn't caught on to their presence just yet. Then she glanced back at him, her face serious and eyes intense - it was all business now.

"When it comes this way, I want you to take it down and make the kill." She wasn't exactly comfortable leaving him to take the kill since that was the most important part of the whole process, but she also didn't want him scattering the whole herd off into different directions. She didn't have a lot of faith in him either way, it seemed.

Slowly, she pushed herself up a little. "Don't fail me kid, be ready when it comes." And with that she was slowly stalking off in the direction of the herd, making a slow but careful circle around them.

He was rather surprised when she informed him that she wanted him to make the kill rather than lead the prey to her and it showed when he pulled back just a bit. It wasn't that he wasn't confident in himself it was just that he was young and now it suddenly felt like he was under a lot of pressure.

He sucked in a deep breath and stood up straighter. "I will not let you down," he stated quietly staring at their prey. "I am ready whenever you are," he told her sinking down to his belly again readying himself to pounce at just the right moment.

Makri heard his words as she retreated. All she could hope for was that he wasn't just talk, that he was actually capable of doing this. After all of this, she really wasn't in the mood to lose her second meal of the day.

She drew up quietly in her new position, watching the herd as they grazed on the long grasses. She waited a while, letting any nervousness they might have felt at her walk pass, then all of a sudden her dark form sprang from the savannah grass. She didn't even bother with the younger antelope that darted this way and that - her eyes were only on the older, more feable creature.

In no time, she was driving it to where her young partner waited, forcing it's frantic pattern into a beeline where she had last seen him. Her only thought as her lungs burned and her muscles ached from the chase was that he better be there ready and waiting, or she was going to be a little more than furious.

Taiga let his eyes follow the darker female as she made her way carefully to the other side letting the herd settle before she sprang forward. His breath hitched as the adrenaline poured through his system and he tore his eyes away from the lioness and glued them to the old antelope springing towards him. He crouched lower to the ground to make sure that it couldn't see him. If it had it might have run off in a different direction.

Then it was only a few feet away from him getting ever so much close to him in a desperate attempt to flee. It was then that he launched himself forward, into the air, with his teeth bared and his claws extended. At first he was afraid that he hand lept too soon because he almost missed but it seemed like fate had decided to smile upon him when his teeth caught the underside of the prey beat's neck and his claws dug into the flesh of the antelope's face.

His panic returned when the beast started to rear up on it's hind-legs in an attempt to escape but he only dug his claws in deeper and threw all of his weight onto the creature barely managing to throw it onto the ground. He stood there, with his jaw clamped around it's neck and one paw pressed into it's face.

Makri had to fight the strong urge not to follow up and take the kill down herself. She knew that if she did that she would be left awfully weak, especially after that run. So instead she put her faith in him as she ran the beast down, watching him as he sprung, and calculating the distance between him and the prey. At first she wasn't sure.. at first..

And then he had it, a sloppy kill but a kill none-the-less. She saw the struggle in the old beast and came to stand close to it, one paw pushing down the hind end and keeping it from using it's back legs to stand. In no time, she saw the life draining away, to the point where she was sure it was no longer capable of fighting back.

"Good job," it lacked enthusiasm, but it was as much praise as anyone ever got from Makri. He had managed not to screw it up royally, and she recognized that it was time to point out his obvious victory. For a moment she seemed to consider something, watching him and then the beast, then him again with concentration on her face.

Finally, she settled down on her haunches, having apparently made a decision. "I suppose your reward is sharing the meal, but don't go getting ideas in your head - I don't want to chit chat and I want you gone afterward."

When she came over to join him he was grinning so broadly. He hadn't done a very good job, but he was young and he didn't have much experience but the fact that he had done it and that he had been under pressure and still pulled through made him very proud of himself. He had let go once the antelope had stopped struggling and stepped back to admire his handy work. He frowned slightly when he saw how much it had squirmed beneath him and he shook his head. He would just have to do better next time. He'd get a clean kill. He was determined.

"Thank you," he mumbled softly grinning at her when she praised him halfheartedly. She didn't seem to care but the fact that she had at least said something to him about it made him happy. It meant that he had fixed it, he had fixed what he messed up. That was all he wanted.

She invited him to join her, with conditions and he eagerly bounded forward. "Yes ma'am!" he replied with an enthusiastic nod. "I'll be gone before you even know it," he told her determined to do just that. He'd eat a bit and then he'd take his leave. He had accomplished what he had wanted.

Makri only snorted at him, finding that despite it all, he wasn't really that bad for an over-eager brat. She definitely didn't feel like spending the rest of her afternoon with him, but she supposed there were worse adolescent fools out there that she could have been saddled with.

So instead of sulking or groaning at having him in her presence for another half hour, she just relaxed comfortably and began her meal. He had done everything she told him so far so she knew he'd do exactly what she told him now. He'd definitely be gone quickly.

"Good kid," she murmured pleasantly around a bite of her meal. It was a shame she disliked company and companionship in general - he would have been a pretty good pet.
