User ImageWhat good was his previous pack? All of them scintillatingly colorful and yet somehow dull in the head - that was the only explanation as to how the corrupt line of the alpha's blood had managed to stay in power for so long. He had refused to serve further as a spy, and as such had tasked with the impossible to regain his honor: to bring back a paw of the snow bear in the far north. It was only his training that had saved him from peril so far, ironically, the many days spent running through the forest with quick steps and sharp eyes. Trees had sheltered him since the day he was born, even though by the very nature of his bright pelt he should not have been alive; creatures were usually drawn to such colors, so under their cover Chou had moved swiftly to keep ahead of curious eyes.

And now he stood at the fringes of the forest, a sprawling plain before him. Instinct told him the second he stepped out, something would happen. That at least had stuck to him: the forests were safe; everything else was not. Nothing else provided shade and water as well as food in the same abundance as forests. Plains left his kind out in the open and easy to spot. They could run it, yes, but catch something? More like be caught.

And thus he stayed just within the trees' shadows, bright blue eyes scanning the area for signs of life before even considering moving.

Aya's travels continued to lead her through unknown lands and untamed wildernesses, into new worlds and bringing new experiences by the day. She was not enjoying it. The pink-furred female didn't much like all of this walking - not the blisters and scuffs on her paw pads, the greasy lankiness of her coat, her complaining stomach and worst of all the biting incests which seemed to follow her every move. She wanted to be home, damn-her-mate-to-hell.

The grasslands, when she had come to them, had seemed a relief from the dreary drudgery of the forest's dense closeness. Her old packlands had been near open land like this and she had loved to feel the heavy gales which blew through them ruffling her fur. She closed milky-blue eyes now, letting her nostrils flare to catch the sun warmed smell of grass, the rangy smell of larger animals and, to her surprise, the scent of another wolf. Her eyes flicked open, and a look of worry creased her features - she had always loved to meet others but she couldn't be too safe out here, on her own.

Twisting her head, she tried to pick out the wolf, but she couldn't quite figure it out. The wind was blowing this-and-thataway, so she couldn't be sure where the scent came from and she couldn't even begin to see into the dense forest which stretched into the wonderful, open, grasslands.

This area, it didn't seem familiar at all. She couldn't remember her home having a large meadow like this - but perhaps it did. Mavican had realized a while ago that her curiosity had taken her too far from the familiarity of her den and was attempting to get back home. She had followed the river for a while, vaguely remembering that there was a river not far from where she lived. But that river it seemed had taken her further from her home - or was it closer - she couldn't tell quite yet. Having a terrible memory made times like this a bit frustrating. But even as frustrating and downright scary as it could be being lost Mavican was still smiling and her tail wagged in that perpetual sign of happiness. She would find her way home eventually, or mother would come to the rescue once more.

Bringing her paws to a stop Mavican took another good long look at the area around her. Why did all the trees have to look the same? You'd think they would each be different looking much like all the wolves she had met in her wanderings. Eyes moved over the meadow, Mavican was certain she had never seen anything like it, for trees seemed to be everywhere she had previously been - or at least she thought she remembered trees being everywhere. No longer able to stand still Mavican's paws began to carry her across the large open grassy area, tail wagging like a flag, happy barks escaping her every now and then. This was a wonderful place, there were flowers and she could hear a bird or two and the grass tickled as it brushed her sides making her giggle even more. In fact she was having so much fun she failed to smell the other two wolves in the area.

He opened his nostrils wide to take in more scents. Two more wolves, it seemed - of course they would be coming out just as he was deliberating leaving the forest. Chou was suspicious . . . Perhaps here was not the best place to embark on the wild journey he was sure was ahead of him. Perhaps some sort of pack here was close by, filled with animosity he had yet to uncover. Or perhaps that was the instilled paranoia in him stirring . . . But was that really something he needed to get over? It was that very paranoia that had saved his life numerous times before.

Aah, here he was thinking too much again, and the sound of one of the wolves' pawsteps was beginning to draw near to his location. Either face someone head-on and head into the unknown and face a different unknown there. He would never adapt to the north if he couldn't face a simple flat land! And thus the bright-colored wolf strode from out of the trees, hyperaware of his surroundings, and immediately pinpointed a reddish sort of wolf who seemed to be looking around for something herself.

Very simple. Ask for directions and proceed onward, Chou thought as he approached, allowing his usually light steps to bear his weight in more noticeable amounts so that she could hear him and not be so startled. As such, he bowed his head as was customary in his pack before speaking. "Konichiwa. I am a traveller looking for the way north. May I ask for directions?"

Aya's ears pricked forwards as she caught the sounds of approaching paws, her eyes alighting on the figure coming from where her nose had eventually led her to. She started at the poor things thin, ragged demeanour - he looked emaciated to her eye and like he could do with a rest. Poor chicky. she wondered i all lone wolves turned out this way and sincerely hoped not...

He also looked older than his voice suggested, when it came. Konichiwa? It wasn't a word she knew, though it sounded like some sort of greeting given how he'd used it. Maybe they said that in these lands? She was a little worried about offending any sensibilities, but took her usual no-nonsense approach to these things. I the wolves here spoke differently she'd better learn how if she was going to find somewhere to stay and there was no reason to be shy about it.

"Why hello!" she smiled gently "I'd sure be happy to give you directions, if ah know them, though ah only know the way here that I've come... I am sorry, I ain't never heard of that word... konnichiwa, could you tell me what it means if y'please?" there - polite, to the point, practical and friendly. As everyone should be, she thought.

Distracted by the stranger, she hadn't noticed the pup, yet.

CielTi had been wandering for as long as he could remember. Could he remember? His past was such a blur for him noting stuck he must have always been alone. It didn't bother him much never knowing companionship. He hadn't seen any other wolves anyhow, so what would he know? The only thing he heard was the occasional growling of his stomach. However, today he heard something else. He wasn't sure where he was in this forest but the sounds he heard weren't his own. Ahead he heard several voices. Curious he walked slowly toward them. He saw three other wolves two talking to each other and another was small, a pup. As he came closer he stopped, turning his head to the side, he did not know what to do. He sat there starring perplexed to see other wolves, and trying to figure out what to say.

This was great, so much room to run, and play and not a tree to worry about. She would need to remember to come back to this meadow so as to come back at a later date. The smell of wild flowers filled her senses and she made a mental note to pick some and bring them home to her mother and sisters - maybe even one for Roland. Stopping at a bright pink flower and took a deep breath. Pollen filled her nostrils, made them itch. Giving her head a shake she tried to rid herself of the itchy stuff but it just wouldn't go away, and soon the overwhelming need to sneeze overtook her. Her hold body shook as the sneeze came out. Best not to sniff anymore flowers.

Buzzing reached her ears and she instantly took off after the bee that had been stirred up from a nearby flower by her sneeze. She hadn't played with a bee before, and the thought that it could possibly sting or hurt her was the furthest from her mind. Oh course she also wasn't expecting to run into a pile of red and pink fur. "Oof!" The purple and gold pup rolled back onto her feet after she had bounced off the female wolf. "Hey! Where did you come from?" She asked and then glanced over at the black and orange wolf. "Woah! You're cool looking!"

If she'd been the type to squeal like a little girl, she might have right then and there as an adorable pup bashed into her legs. Distracted almost instantly, Aya cooed over the little bundle of purple fur. "Well, well, and where did you come from darlin'? Do your momma and poppa know you're out here?"

She wasn't that old, by the looks of her, and probably shouldn't be out without somebody to look after her surely? Aya adored little ones, and she couldn't fathom why anyone would let such a little mite out on their own. Her own belief that she couldn't have any led her to be overprotective of those she came across, a deep-seated mothering instinct which had no particular focus.

CielTi watched as the older female cooned the little pup. How cute he thought. Was his own mother like that? He wondered. It made him happy to watch them. Wandering over to them he built up his courage and mustered up a muted, "Hello."
