The red lioness sat silently beneath the tree she'd taken to sleeping beneath. It wasn't 'her' tree exactly, but it was the one she preferred. She had no desire for a den, not other than the one where she'd died with her beloved kite. Someday she'd go back there. But right now her pride needed her. She could still hunt, could still help to provide for the hurt and slowly recovering pride. Too many had been lost, as she had been. And too few still moved, as she somehow did.
When they were recovered, she could go to sleep. But until then she would work. Still...sometimes, like right now, Yamini wondered why. Why she was still here, when her usefulness was so very limited. Why did she trouble the living, like cheerful little Jahina, to worry over her, to seek her out to cheer her? Why? She was dead, there was no need to concern themselves with her.
Maybe she should just go... but... she was helpful. Useful. Her skills had not died when she had, they might as well be used...right?

He was far from the same lion he had been when he was young. He found it difficult to be that same friendly youngster he had been when he was full of games and laughter. Very difficult. Time alone had not only changed his mannerisms though it had changed the way he looked. When he left the pride he had been quite chunky, not fat but at least the right weight physically for a lion, his meagre hunting skill though had changed the way he ate and because of this he had become a very slim lion, his legs seemingly longer than usual, but still he was healthy enough, fit enough to be called in his prime. He found it odd how often others ate while he struggled to absorb and keep down a small rabbit, he was trying to eat more often but his complaining system just wouldn't have any of it."Theres a red lion up ahead." Fai Whispered in his ear as she landed in his silky duel coloured mane. Fai always used his head as her 'nest' she even roosted on his head when they slept they were inseparable even more so she guessed than a lot of the lions in this pride. She had found him alone in the big wide world and had joined him. Ever since they had never been apart for any length of time. Of course just because he didn't eat, didn't mean she didn't eat. She needed her meals and though it meant being apart from Lor'dah she had to go occasionally. The handsomely marked male lifted his head from his thoughts, his odd coloured eyes looking at the lioness. Every day he found someone he knew, or that was how it seemed. Every day he saw someone who had survived the quake whom he remembered, lions who he knew before he left.
"Yamini?" He blinked owlishly picking up his paws to move more quickly towards her. It was her! he was certain of it! What did he say to someone he remembered from all that time ago, to someone that would remember how sick he had felt not having a bird at his side. He scanned the clouds for a moment, her bonded would be near by, he could remember Yamini's bonded, they had been so close. he had been jealous of that bond, he had feared he would never have it.
"Yamini, Yamini look I found her at last!" A smile pulls at his maw, a smile he barely ever wore a very genuine almost child like smile. With Fai by his side he had felt confident enough to return home, he felt he finally belonged, he had promised he would come home of course, when his bonded joined him he just never truly thought it would happen.

Her ears swiveled of their own accord at the sound of her name well before the lioness blinked her empty orange eyes into proper focus and looked up. Something stirred in the empty hollow place in her chest as she recognized it as her old friend. She'd know those spots anywhere, and, as he drew closer, the dual-colored eyes assured her that it was indeed him. For a moment, just the barest moment, she was almost...almost...relieved. He'd been alone when they were young and had left because of this when they grew older. She'd missed her friend, the games they'd played and the laughter he had always shared with her. She was glad he was back... for just a moment she almost thought she'd not be lonesome any longer.
But then... she saw it. Sleek blue wings, soft white feathers on her belly...a beatiful falcon. And suddenly the lioness was more alone than ever. It was wrong, it was cruel, it was petty and absolutely horrid of her to wish Lor'Dah had not been Bonded. But the thought had come to her mind regardless.
Still, that soft practiced smile flitted across her features as he drew closer, though the hollowness never left her eyes. He was happy now, deserved happiness. He would expect her to be pleased to see him, to be excited at his return. She felt nothing, the dead have no feelings, but she remembered how to act.
"Oh, Lor'Dah, that's wonderful news. Congratulations," Yamini said softly, rising to her feet to pad over to greet him. "Look at you, your mane's come in...and you've lost weight..." the latter was said with a touch of concern in her tone. "Have you been eating?"
