The little gray hare was having an adventure!
While his siblings slept, Jari had slipped away, stalking a grasshopper just like he'd seen mommy stalking something much much bigger. He didn't see what happened to the big black and white stripy thing though. Mommy hadn't told him either. He wondered why, but only a little bit.
His fluffy stub of a tail waggling in anticipation, he crept closer, closer, closer... pounce!
"...aw..." he whined as, opening his paws, he found nothing there. Long floppy ears laid back in dismay, he was never going to be as good as mommy had been!
Keena lay on her belly, paws tucked against her chest as she watched the antics of her second eldest child. Star was the oldest, the little white lioness having been a bit more than a cub when Keena had found her and adopted her. Now that Star was getting big, Kisun had given her three teeny tiny little fluffballs, asking the pale furred lioness to look after them.
It had been an odd request, and one Keena didn't fully understand. But she'd accepted the task lovingly, and now had three little bundles of bunny-joy to call her own.
"Almost, Jari," she called, knowing he could hardly see her over the grass. It was so tall for him being so small! But she could see him. She had one watchful golden eye on her energetic son at all times, his brother and sister curled up and sleeping peacefully in grassy nest at her side.
They needed watching though. Most didn't realize that they were her cubs...er...kittens. She didn't want someone to make a mistake that they would regret. Regret would mean little to a hare that had been hurt, and Keena was no miracle worker, though she had met a few gods who might qualify.

Looking around Seizken wondered where exactly had he wanderd off to. Last thing he remembered was, leaving from a cave he had stayed in for the night. Though when he left all he could think of was her, and the inevitable fact of family. With those thoughts came the vision of the family they might have. In which he quickly shook his head at, to try and get rid of the fact. "What am I thinking," he whispered to himself, "I could never be a father..."How could he ever rasie a family when he never had one himsef. He knew nothing of how one was supposed to take care of little ones. With his mind lost in thought he hadn't even thought to look where he was going or stepping for that matter. That was until he looked down. An quickly Noticed a pair of long floppy ears, in the grass below where he was planning to take his next step. "Woah," he said as he quickly took a step backwards so not to step on whatever it was laying there.

Jari pawed glumly at the spot where his bug had been just moments before. He'd seen how mommy jumped to catch things, things that were bigger than mommy was! He'd tried to do it just like her, but his paws were clumsy and in the way, and he'd flopped on his belly with a great deal less grace than mommy landed.
His long and distinctly overfloppy ears pricked up suddenly at the sound of pawsteps. Utterly unafraid, no one would bother a lion cub after all, the young hare looked up at the large white lion that was suddenly standing over him.
"Hullo," Jari said, adding in a hushed tone, "I am catching bugsies for mommy, shhh, don't scare thems."
She'd only glanced away for a moment, just one, to check on the sleepy siblings of her precious little Jari, and now, suddenly...potential trouble. The lioness was on her paws in an instant, her motions worried rather than hostile. Misunderstandings were understandable in such strange cases as hers was. But she had no desire to let Jari become a victim of such a misunderstanding!
"Jari," Keena called softly, lifting a paw to scoop her little son closer to herself. "I'm sorry, I hope he's not bothered you," the lioness tried. She hadn't really met anyone since she had begun mothering the three little hares, and wasn't really sure how others would react. She knew numerous people who had tried to eat Kisun, she'd no desire for a repeat close call with any of the kittens.

As soon as he heard the little voice, he couldn't help but smile slightly. Below him he noticed what looked to be a little grey baby hare. As he glanced at the hare he could see how he seemed fearless which made him smile a bit more. The little one had taken his thoughts off of the idea on the family. For right now all Seizken could think was how much this hare reminded of himself as cub.
"Oh why hello there little one, and I see. I'll be sure to be as quiet as I can then," he said with a nod as he placed his front left paw to his mouth.
Then out of no where, he noticed a lioness rush to the baby hares side. She had amazing speed for he had never even seen her coming. Which was quite a surprise. "why would a lioness be protecting a baby hare," he wondered quietly to himself. Though he knew that might be one question better left unasked. Even though he never planned to hurt the little one, it was still something he had never seen before in his lifetime. "A lion protecting a hare, guess the world is full of surprises.." he thought.
As he brought his head back down to earth, he heard the new arrival speak. Inside he knew it best to reply, for today he didn't want to be thought of as a threat. "Oh no he wasn't bothering me at all," he replied gentley. "Actually I believe I was bothering him. Since he seems to have been on the hunt for some creatures, when I wasn't watching my step," he admitted with a slight show of regret in his tone. He really did feel bad for almost stepping on the little one, since he knew when his head was that far into his thoughts. he normally didn;t notice anything or anyone. Not a tree, not a bird, not even the rain beginning to pour down onto his fur.

Jari nodded solemnly when the lion promised to be quiet. "Good." the little hare agreed, looking up at him with a degree of curiousness. This was an awfully big lion. Bigger than mama. And Jari was so small. Would he ever grow as big as this? He'd probably be able to catch bugs no problem then!
The small hare had just turned to look around, he needed a new target, when he was pulled close by a very familiar paw. "But mama, I'm pr...pract...icing my hunting!" he whined as he was scooped up, pouting up at the small lioness.
"Oh, I see," Keena smiled brightly, cuddling the kitten when he pouted at her, she didn't need to look at the little gray hare to know he was making that face. She'd just picked up on it from his tone or experience with this being his reaction...she really wasn't sure when it had become part of what she just...knew. But she did.
"Well then, it's nice to meet you," the lioness continued, "My name is- oh dear," she paused, glancing up at the sky. Rain? Oh no, her babies might get cold! "I'm sorry, I need to get my kittens," she apologized, "I don't want them to catch cold in this weather, they're so very tiny..."

Seizken began to chuckle at the little one. He seemed so curious about the world yet innocent at the time. Inside he had to admire the pure heart and sense of world young children had despite what species they were. They lived for today and not tomorrow, something he himself still had to learn to do.
He quickly turned his attention back to lioness and smiled as she did. Since it appeared she might be able to see that he was a friend. In a way that is and not someone who would hurt her young ones. Something that made him smile alot more, since it had been awhile since someone had even slightly trusted him. "Well its nice to meet you too. I'm ...," Seizken began to say. Before he heard her worried voice. As soon as he did, a slight worried look came on to his face as well. Since for some reason even though he had just met them he was slightly worried inside a bit too. For he had a caring side that not even he knew exixted. "Well would you like some help?" he said in a sincere tone.

"Oh, would you?' Keena sighed, her voice and breath muffled by the little hare held gently in her jaws. She deposited Jari back on the ground before the white lion, that she'd not even gotten his name yet didn't seem to concern her all that much. He'd offered to help after all, and he certainly seemed like a nice sort of fellow. "Would you mind grabbing my son then? I can't carry the three of them is all, I found a den not too far away..." the lioness trailed off, glancing over her shoulder towards the small clump of grass where she'd just left Jari's brother and sister. "You could join us if you'd like, there's room enough," she added, though it was barely true. It wasn't so much a den as a rocky outcropping that might keep most of the rain off of most of them. But, being a traveler, she didn't really have any fixed shelter to return to.
Apparently trusting the white lion, she padded back the way she'd come, carefully scooping the other two up and shushing sleepy protests as she did so. They couldn't sleep in the rain after all, they could go back to dreams once they were in a warm, dry place where they wouldn't catch cold. Her jaws ached at the small weight, she still hadn't quite gotten used to it yet, and it was certainly awkward to hold them in this way. Two little squirmy babies, no matter that they were tiny, it was not a manner in which she was fully used to carrying anything.
"Miffsay," Keena tried, then frowned, her ears splaying almost comically back as she realized how impossible speech was. Instead, she gestured with a few flicks of her tail that he ought to follow her. She glanced back frequently, though if he had Jari and seemed to be keeping up then she'd pick up her speed so that they might make the small shelter before it really started to pour.
Up and down, mommy couldn't make up her mind today it seemed. The little hare gave himself a good shake once he was down on the ground, fluffing up his baby fur before peering quizzically up at the strange lion while mommy said that help was nice and would he take Jari. The hare frowned, he liked mommy best after all, but he didn't protest when she turned and ran for his brother and sister.
"My name's Jari," he told the stranger, since mommy hadn't and the white lion hadn't, though they had both started to. He rose to sit on his haunches, little paws folded in front of himself as he stared almost warily for a moment before going utterly cross-eyed at a spatter of rain on his nose. "Cold," he complained, rubbing at it for a moment before looking back up at Seizken. "Up please," Jari insisted, looking over at where his mommy had already picked up Cari and Chai and seemed to be waiting for them to follow. He did not want to be wet and cold, nope.

"Sure I'd love too," Seizken said with a smile on his face. This mother seemed really kinda for someone with three young ones. He couldn't even imagine how much work it took, for her to care for the three of them. Though despite how much work it took, she seemed like she cared about each of her children alot. As he watched her bend down and pick the other two small ones up, he looked down at the one she had left in his care.
"Well its nice to meet you Jari, I'm Seizken," he said as he nodded to the young one with a smile. As he looked at the childs face his mind accidently began to wander, what would it be like to have a son of his own? He began to think of all the adventures he might have with a child of his own, and the eyes of someone looking to him for guidance. As quickly as the thought came to his mind, he qas quickly brought back to reality as Jari complained about being cold. "Well then I think its time we get you some place warm, don't you?" He said as he lended down towards the little one, he was such a sweet innocent life that it was hard to believe anything could look so cute. Though since he didn't want Jari to get to cold, he gently ached his jaw as he had seen the childs mother do. He made sure it was ached at a small weight since he wouldn't dare want to hurt the child. As he lifted the small child named Jari up, he quickly followed behind the mother. Since even though it was just a few drops he could sense that a downpour was about to hit the land where they stood. A downpour that could possibly get these child or their mother sick, and he couldn't let that happen even if it was just a possiblity.
