When you obtain a feather, you will be asked to submit a form to the shop mule and with that form you will fill out what you want your Hraapeas statistics to be. There are base stats for all Hraapea, but you can decide the fate of yours by adding the extra points wherever you wish, this makes for more customization. Here is a list of the different statistics, what they mean, and what they will do for your Hraapea should you place more points in them. When they grow into a child, you can place 30 points in any statistic below that you want and again at the teen and adult stage. This will make your Hraapea stronger, and much fiercer than another, or may make them better with defenses. It is all up to you and how you use them.

  • HP stands for hit points. The base is 100 for each Hraapea child. When they grow into a Teen, they will gain 50 more, and another 50 at the Adult Stage. The HP of a Hraapea determines how much damage it can take before it falls unconscious. Having a higher HP means more damage can be dealt before unconsciousness befalls your child.
  • CP stands for Crystal points. The base for this is 50 and whenever they grow to a higher stage, they gain another 50. The CP of a Hraapea means the more attacks they can create using the crystals infused with them before they wear themselves out and cannot continue to control their powers. Different attacks use up more or less CP than others. The higher the CP of your Hraapea the more attacks it will be able to dish out before becoming too tired to go on.
  • ENG stands for energy. Every Hraapea has this stat, but it differs from the magical Hraapeas to the regular, non-crystallized ones. If you decide not to go through the process of gaining a crystal, you will have ENG instead of CP altogether. The base stat for ENG is 100 for you, and gains 50 more energy each time your Hraapea grows to another stage. The more ENG you have, the more attacks you can do with your fists, talons, or other weapons of defense. If you do have CP, than your ENG gage will only start at 50 and grow by 20 each time your Hraapea grows.

Any Hraapea can battle, but they become much more powerful if they have obtained and infused the crystal of your/their choice. Now, this system is quite easy to understand and learn. When you obtain a crystal OOC and have gone through the appropriate RP IC to obtain and get the crystal infused into your Hraapea, he or she will go through a miniature metamorphosis within moments. They will feel much stronger and finally be able to control that element minimally at the beginning, but with practice, they can master it completely. Obviously, this is all up to you to decide. Would you rather not have your Hraapea fight? Or maybe fight but without obtaining a crystal? Or would you like him or her to defend themselves against possible opponents and beasts? The choice is yours.

Battling takes energy or crystal points in order to win. A good battler has a good set of moves. View the thread entitled, Crystals and Energy Abilities to see the different crystals one can obtain, what they do, and what types of physical attacks cost what energy. I hope this guide is useful for you! Please read it carefully!

Now, one of the most important things to note about the crystals. Each crystal has at least one weakness or more. Those who are of opposing crystals will get a -10 or +10 to attack power.

For example, if we have a Ruby and an Aquamarine going into a battle, the Ruby would only do -10 to the damage if aimed at the Aquamarine, while the Aquamarine will actually do +10 damage. Plus one must add critical hits or halved hits as well as evading possibilities. See the 'Dice' post in this thread for more on critical hits and evading.

Note that energy users, or those who don't obtain a crystal are neither immune nor super effective of any other crystal.

Well, now that you’ve decided whether or not to obtain the crystal, and which to obtain, you have an idea of what your Hraapea is going to be. A healer perhaps? A massive damage tanking machine? Or maybe just all around a balanced character? Any way you decide, I bet it will be amazing! Just make sure the crystal is actually obtainable by going to the mini-shop post in the main thread. It will say how many are there for availability.

Now, there are different levels of this elemental affinity. Level one is minor control, obtained when you first have the crystal infused. Level two is moderate control over the element. Level three is expert control. And finally, level four is master control over the element. Each level comes with new unlocked abilities specific to each element. Level one and two are generally obtained through the Child Stage, level 3 is generally obtained through the Teen Stage, and level 4 is mostly obtained through Adulthood. But, of course, the more role play, the faster your Hraapea can master his or her element. This means that you can actually get to level four before your child even grows, though it would take massive amounts of role play, but it isn't impossible.

The NPC, Annabelle, is the main trainer for any and all abilities. Setting up little appointments with her will guarantee mastery over time. There are also little perks to using this outreach. :]

Note: As you may or may not know, most Hraapeas can fly at their teen stage, and start flight training or learn to fly on their own. This can be used to their advantage in battle. Flying can also create wind and air, so having the crystal of air, Quartz Crystal, infused within your Hraapea could give you flight even earlier than teen stage, because they will already have had a lot of experience with air.

Well, now that you’ve had a miniature course in the levels and such of DoA, it’s time to learn about experience.

At level 1, you will have to gain 15 experience to level up. At level 2, you must have 20. Level 3 is 25. And finally, after you hit level 4, there is no more unless you role play an extra lot and become one of the ??? stages, which doesn’t happen often, but you could possibly obtain new spells or traits which would make your Hraapea even stronger.

To gain experience one must battle or practice. Battle what? Someone may ask, well, the answer is simple. Each other! Sometimes a Hraapea will go out and find some beast however, so sometimes they will need to have some sort of defense mechanism unless they are carefully watched over by their guardian. Even with their guardians, Hraapea can attract strange creatures. The reason behind this is unknown, but Amerald hopes to figure it out someday. For battling another Hraapea of the same stage, one will gain 4 points for a win, but only 2 points for a loss. Beating a stronger opponent will garner 8 points for a win, and 2 points for a loss. And finally beating a weaker opponent will only give you 2 points for win, and 1 point for a loss. For beasts, well that all depends on the beast the Hraapea is fighting. More information on beasts in the Bestiary post.

Another way that is less dangerous to gain experience is to practice. Annabelle is the trainer for these, since Amelia has decided to go without a crystal altogether. If you want some quick experience, you must go through practice sessions with Annabelle. For each practice session, you will gain 7 experience points. But you are only aloud one private session with Annabelle per level. And for each individual practice session you have on your own in the privacy of your journal, you will gain 2 experience. Though, the private experience must also be journalized by the guardian or Hraapea and have a minimum of 500 words.

Please PM Amerald Laraan to have your Hraapea's profile updated if you do decide to create private sessions for yourself in your journal.

Alright, it's time to learn about how the dice rolling becomes effective within the battle post. Each person will need to roll 2, 10 sided dice with their battle post. Why, do you ask? Well, the answer is simple. The first number will show how much damage the attacks that you are placing in your post will do. The second is how big of a chance you have to dodge the opponents attack.

  • Attack
xxxxxIf your first number is 1 or 2, the damage will be halved, meaning that if the attack itself normally causes 10 damage, it will only cause 5. If it is between 3 and 8, the damage will be normal damage. If it is either 9 or 10, the damage will be a critical hit, causing an extra 5 damage.

  • Evading
xxxxxIf your number is 1 or 10, you will have a 100% chance to evade. If it is 2 or 9, you have a 50% chance to evade the incoming attacks, determined by a coin flip. If it is anywhere between 3 and 8, the attack will not be able to be evaded whatsoever.

I hope this is helpful. Good luck when posting! And, if you fail to post these stats, than your attacks will automatically be normal damage and you will not have a chance to evade whatsoever.

Now, the battle begins! If you have read through this thoroughly, you’ll notice that there are many ways you can win. Now, let me explain how one will determine how someone will win or lose a fight. If you look at the post within the guild which explains Crystals and Energy Abilities, you will notice that the attacks listed say how much CP or ENG it costs to use that specific attack as well as how much damage each does. That will be deducted from the opponent’s HP which will keep everyone on the same page. A moderator will be monitoring the battle from the sidelines. Once two people make their posts, a moderator within the guild (any crew member) can post saying how the two collided. Oftentimes, the more description one places in their posts determines how well the two Hraapeas collided. Now, the moderator is not allowed to god-mod in any way, but instead, just post updated stats.

Here is an example of what I mean.

See, if you read over that thread, it shows the stats as well as the posts by both players and a moderator determining the factors. This will take the cooperation of 3 different people, but will count as 2 of the required PRP/ORPs! That is the upside to battling another Hraapea! You gain experience which can level you up and garner spells as well as completing the requirements for growth faster!

I hope that this guide has helped you learn the ways of Hraapea battling! Good luck, and may your crystal’s guide you! :3
