This was an extra special baking day. Nyx was attempting to make her super special Chocolate Mocha Mousse Cake. Well, it would be hers, as soon as she managed to make it for the first time. In theory, it didn't sound like such a hard project. Chocolate cake, mousse, and chocolate, however, the execution of said cake was turning out to be more difficult than expected.
The scientist had decided to leave all of her pokemon, except Langley, back in her room, which was a wonderful decision, except for she constantly had her hands full and Langley had no hands to lend her.
So far, she'd prepared the cake batter, but now she was having some trouble holding the cake pan and the mixing bowl and pouring the batter INTO the cake pan.
"Well... drat. Langley, I need help."
"Geo..." Langley tilted his head and then started to preen his feathers. What did she want him to do? He was a bird.

Upon her approach, she could hear that someone else was in the kitchen. Well that was just great. Nikki peeked through the door with a frown, seeing the scientist with the white poofy hair. After all, Nyx was not easily forgotten. She remembered seeing her during that last raid.
Although she was no longer using crutches, Nikki limped through the door and was soon followed by her own Pidgeot. His talons clicking against the tiled floor as they made their way in. His sights immediately honed in on the other bird with a glare and his feathers poofing out in a warning display.
Nikki said nothing as she went about her business, merely giving the other Rocket and her Pidgeot a glance as she went by. Her steps taking her to one of the walk in refrigerators.

Because Nyx wasn't always the most sensible of people, when Nikki and Darkfeather walked through the doors, she turned her attention away from holding and pouring the cake batter and gave the two a smile.
"Hello!" She looked back to the cake and noticed she was about to let it pour on the counter. "Oh no! No no no!" Nyx tipped the bowl up, and poured some of the cake batter in the second pan. There was a problem now, the batter was running out and she'd need a spatula to get the rest... but this bowl was heavy and too big to hold with one hand. Hey! Someone with hands just walked in!
"Hey, um... Nikki! Would you give me a hand? I'm having a spatula conundrum." Nyx smiled again. She was full of smiles today, but who wouldn't be when faced with the prospect of chocolate covered chocolate chocolate.

Nikki didn't even reply to Nyx's greeting and instead went rummaging around in the walk in fridge. After a few moments she then emerged carrying some fish wrapped in paper. She limped over to a metal prep table and pulled out a cleaver, kitchen scissors, and another large knife.
That's when Nyx's request for help fell upon her ears and she frowned. "Surely you can handle it yourself." She muttered as she unwrapped one of the fish. Which happened to be a good sized Remoraid.
Darkfeather's eyes dilated and his crest raised slightly in interest as he beheld his most favorite of foods.
Then there was a solid whack as the cleaver came down on the dead Pokemon. Its head rolling onto the floor.

That was... less than helpful. Most people would probably find a new, assistant free, way to scrape batter out of a bowl, but not Nyx. In fact, the bowl started to feel heavier and heavier as the seconds passed as she held the bowl with one hand and the spatula with the other.
As Nyx pouted at Nikki the bowl slipped from her tiny hand and landed with a loud clang on the counter. Luckily nothing spilled or broke.
"Please? You can have the bowl after."
Langley perked up at the sight of fish, but was conflicted by the larger and more evolved pokemon being there and also eying that fish. "Geo..."

How heavy could a bowl possibly be? Was it made of lead? Nikki looked rather annoyed at the pleas from this girl she barely knew.
She gave out an irritated sigh before dropping the knives onto the metal table with a clatter and a huff. Darkfeather too look rather irate as now Nyx caused his meal further delay. The dark Pidgeot's feathers stood on end and he glared at her. "Geeeeot."
Making her way over to poofy headed one, Nikki made a grab for the bowl to scoop out the batter herself.

"Thanks!" Nyx grinned as Nikki grabbed the thick glass mixing bowl, which was actually pretty heavy.
What was next? Ah yes, the mousse! Nyx threw her finger into the air as the light-bulb in her mind went off. The oven beeped, letting everyone in the room know that it was ready for cake.
"Do you want to know what I'm making?" Nothing could damper the good mood of the little baker scientist, not in the middle of all this potential deliciousness. She poured the heavy whipping cream into the electric mixer's bowl and switched it on. Apparently she didn't mind carrying a conversation over the loud whirring.
This bigger bird was making Langley very nervous, especially the way it was looking at his trainer. The pidgeotto waddled in place and kept fluffing up and back down again. If he were a legendary pokemon like he was supposed to be, that bird wouldn't be a problem.

Even though it was heavy, Nikki seemed to manage better than Nyx and put the bowl down when the batter was thoroughly scraped out of it. She then frowned at the question and looked around at the ingredients.
"Looks like some sort of dessert." She replied, as it was obvious there was chocolate in the batter.
Darkfeather bobbed his head occasionally, looking between his trainer and Nyx with anticipation. He wanted his fish dammit.
"Geot!" he squawked in protest. "Be patient!" Nikki snapped back, drawing a grumpy look from her Pidgeot as he fluffed out and then roused his feathers. Whatever.

"Its a mousse cake!" Nyx beamed. "Since you helped me out, do you want some when its done? I think if I try to eat it all by my self I might go into a sugar coma." She chuckled, it was only a half joke, this much chocolate could probably render someone hospitalized, or at least sick.
Nyx flinched a little when Nikki's Pidgeot squawked. She hadn't really noticed it before, but now that she had... she didn't think she could tell something that large to be patient. That would be a problem when Langley evolved for the final time.
"Eheh... If I hadn't left Newton in my room, he'd be throwing himself into the bowls of chocolate... Drifloon don't make for yummy cakes."

There was pause at the offer of cake. There were not many girls out there that could resist that, especially chocolate.
"... Maybe." Was her reply. Although it would probably be amusing to watch someone go into a sugar coma.
Then something else caught her attention. "You have a Drifloon?"
Darkfeather stomped his feet against the floor a couple times in continued impatience.

"Alright, if you decide, there is plenty of cake to go around!" Nyx flipped the switch on the mixer to off and poured the chocolate into it.
Nikki asked about Nyx's drifloon. "Yeah, Newton. He's a handful... Do you like Drifloon?" She put the bowl of mousse into the fridge as she talked.

Well now that things seemed to be in order, Nikki turned her gaze to the dancing Pidgeot. She gave a sign, knowing full well his patience would be used up eventually. Not that she was in any danger when it ran out, but the kitchen might be.
Thus she blonde made her way back over to the headless fish. This causing Darkfeather's anticipation to rise as he inclined his head to watch the butchering continue.
"I like flying types." She stated matter-of-factly. "I have a Drifloon too."

"That's interesting!" Nyx ducked down for a moment as she put the two cake pans into the oven. "I haven't seen many people around the base with Drifloon."
It was doubtful that the blond's balloon pokemon caused her as much trouble as Nyx's did. Newton had recently taken up passing through walls and in to other girl's rooms... and Nadja's. Newton seemed to have a thing for Nadja, luckily, Moloch had a thing for Newton, so it all balanced out. Sort of.
"Does yours do anything weird?"
Most of the work on the cake was done, all that was needed to be done now was to wait for the cake to finish, let it cool, assemble it, pour the chocolate over it, and then let it refrigerate over night. Nyx went over this checklist in her head as she made very small talk with the Agent.

Thus the filleting began and with the sharp utensils, Nikki started to cut strips of fish flesh off the carcass. However, she paused and gave Nyx a bit of an odd look at her question.
"What do you mean by weird?"
She couldn't think of anything off the top of her head that would be considered odd Drifloon behavior.
Darkfeather began his head bobbing once again now that the progress had slowed. But soon enough pieces were being cut away from the fish again.

This was awkward... well, less awkward than if Newton had actually been there. It was true, that drifloon was Nyx's first and favorite 'assistant', but sometimes he was more trouble than he was worth.
"Well... For one, Newton has this thing, where he'll find something like jelly, or chocolate sauce, but he really loves grape jelly, and he'll... cover himself with it."
There had been many a time when Nyx had come back to her room to find a jelly-covered balloon taking a sugar induced coma-nap on her nice clean lab coat.
