Kumo had been traveling for days it seemed. He was further and further from his home and seeing more and more herbs he'd never seen before. The ones that grew around home were different and had a strange scent compared to the ones he came across. The herbs in his satchel smelled like home.

There was no turning back now. Even if Ylva would welcome him back with open arms, he couldn't do it. Not with the way his father had looked at him. Like he was something disgusting. Asa hadn't meant to , he knew this. He wasnt sure what was wrong with him though.

The hyena shook his head trying to clear his mind of such thoughts from the past. Right now he was here to do one thing and that was find his place in the world. Maybe he'd join up with a pack or maybe he'd live on his own and mix herbs. Kumo still was learning about herbs and their properties. He aimed to get better. He was sure he would.

The hyena took a seat in the middle of a grassy clearing. There was green as far as the eye could see. Peaceful. He smiled and plopped down on his side.

Valetudo'Sero, goddess of herb lore, needed to find a plant. Thanks to her powers as a goddess she knew exactly where it was but she still had to get there. That was where another of the god powers came in handy, teleportation. Every god had the ability to do it and Val was no different but because she didn't want to land directly on top of the herbs she tended to pop around for she always appeared a little ways away from what she was looking for.

This was the case when Val suddenly appeared in a large grassy clearing. Her arrival created a small wind that fluttered the tall grass in a ripple pattern, something she didn't even notice. She was completly focused on finding one particular plant out of many that were growing and her herb 'radar' could only say that it was 'over there' meaning around the other end of the clearing. She loved being who she was but sometimes Val wished her 'radar' was a bit more precise. With a slight sigh she began to trek across the clearing.

As she got closer to the middle Val noticed a patch of grass that was absent from the surrounding area by some object like a rock. When she got closer she realized it was a light colored hyena that was just laying in the grass. Not sure if they were hurt Val called out softly, "Hello?"

The lighter colored hyena lifted his head at the sound of a females voice. Hmmmm? Who would be greeting him. He squinted his eyes focusing in on the green lioness.

"Hello?" He echoed her greeting with one of his own. She had a big pouch around her neck and two small sachets along side. He looked down at his own small sachet and then back at hers.

"By any chance are you here to pick herbs?" He tilted his head up at her. "I only ask because the case dangling around your neck... " Because he carried herbs from his home in his sachet. Was she a shaman or something?

When the hyena lifted his head and echoed Val, she smiled. Apparently he wasn't hurt so she relaxed a bit. Herbs? This young mortal knew about herbs? Yes Val had met many mortals who knew about them but all of them were adults and unless Val missed her guess, and it was possible, this hyena was not yet fully grown. With surprise written all over her face she automatically responded, "Well yes, it's my job." When the hyena mentioned her bag she glanced quickly at his neck and saw a small sachet as well.

With a smile she sat down and gently brushed her bag with a paw, "this bag has held quite a few herbs, salves, tisanes, as well as many other medicines and in some cases poisons. You are quite an observant little fellow. My name is Valetudo'Sero but I like to be called Val. And you?" She was in no hurry and the young male intrigued her, after all it wasn't every day that she met young mortals who were interested in herbs, well other then her cubs.

A grin lit up on the young hyenas face. He had met someone for the first time who really knew what the sachet around his neck meant. Kumo was glowing he was so pleased.

Still he knew only basic herbs that had grown locally around his families cavern.

"Im afraid I m no expert," He admitted. "Im still learning."

"Ahh but few are young one few are." Val smiled at him. This young hyena was willing to admit that he didn't know everything which was a good thing in her books because no one knew everything, not even her.

"So, um," she just realized that the young male forgot to give his name which wasn't a big deal but Val didn't really know what to call him, "well would you like me to give you a quick lesson for what I'm here for?"

This would be the third such lesson that she had given, fourth if you count running into another herbalist and talking a bit, and Val really found that she liked the idea of teaching others. If she could find a suitable place she might actually do as the white lion, Shalkan, suggested; something like a school.

The male had forgotten to give his name. Not to be rude but because he was so plum excited about meeting someone versed in the ways of herbs. The hyena nodded at her offer.

"Id love that more then anything," He admitted. It took him a moment but his gears turned and he remembered his manners. "My names Kumo by the way. Its nice to meet you," He had forgotten his manners. Ylva would have slapped him over the head for such rudeness.

The male took a seat and eyed the lioness.

"Thats great. It's nice to meet you Kumo and dont worry about it, I dont think I've gotten my own cubs to remember their manners yet." Val laughed lightly as she thought of her small family before focusing again on Kumo. "Well first I guess I should say sometimes my mind runs away with my mouth so if you have any questions dont hesitate to ask. Right now I'm looking for Artemisia Afra. It grows in clumps and its leaves are like fern leaves. It can grow anywhere from half a meter to two meters high. And its in that general area of this clearing. I personalty am guessing its at the edge of the clearing somewhat in the shade." Val indicated the edge of the clearing where she was heading before coming upon young Kumo.

"So shall we go?" Val asked nodding lightly in the direction of the plant.
