After yesterdays playdate with Hamamu, Biski wondered if she was still tired from that. Or perhaps it was just a lazy day. Nevertheless, and never wanting to stress herself out too much, she decided to take an easy day and recline near the water. The sun was past the time of no shadow, and the dreadful heat was bearable. Pleasant next to the water, as if one felt a little warm, a quick dip would cool them off.
She was wet, though not dripping, just letting the sun dry her off as she dozed. Lazy day indeed.

Now that the little ones were all growing up and there were so few running around, it was much easier than it used to be, getting some time alone. While Habu went off to visit his father, Shani decided it was a good time to head around to the waterhole. She was thinking about how strangely quiet it was now, and how odd it was not to have anybody else around.. until she spotted a familiar brown lioness reclining by the water. She didn't say anything at first, walking up to the water, right past Biski and taking a drink.
"Good afternoon, Biski," she said loudly when she finished, turning around and smiling at the napping lioness.

Hearing her name snapped her awake from her daze, and with ears perked up she realized it was Shani. She sat up, since it was always wise to respect one's elders, and smiled at her brightly.
"Hi Shani!" she said happily, her tail flopping lazily behind her. "Wonderful day to do nothing, isn't it?" She'd be productive tomorrow, since she was yesterday. Today was a Biski-wants-to-do-nuuuthin day, and she was loving it.
"The sun is nice, water cool. Can't get much better!"

"It is a lovely day!" she agreed, looking around them with a wide smile. She wasn't terribly surprised to find that Biski was taking it easy by the water-- but now that she thought about it, it was rather surprising that nobody else was here taking it easy with her. But Biski was young, she probably didn't want to keep a bunch of the younger ones around her like some of the adults would. "How did you sneak away from everybody?" she asked, "Little Hamamu didn't try to follow you down here, did she? I heard you two had lots of fun yesterday."

Biski laughed. "I think we had so much fun that she decided she wanted to have a lot of fun with Lisi today. I'm not sure, but I know I won't always be able to keep away from her. I think I got lucky today." She sighed, letting herself relax. It felt nice.
"I don't know how much Lisi would want her around the water too much. I haven't asked her, actually..." Hm, maybe she would one time. It didn't hurt to sorta know how to swim, and the dangers of some waters. This one was harmless, but she'd heard of crocodiles liking to lurk near the water for anything they could eat.
"Maybe someday soon. Though with how loud she squeals everyone would know she's here."

"I think so," Shani laughed as Biski sighed and relaxed. She was lucky not to have a trail of cubs following after her-- though Mamu was really the only little-little one now. That didn't mean the others couldn't cause just as much trouble!
"Well, this is the safest place to go to the water," she said thoughtfully, "And there are always plenty of others around here if you needed help." The waterhole was one of the few places you were certain to run into other pride member, though you wouldn't always stop to chat.

"Hmmm, maybe we'll make it our next playdate!" As in, with more than just the three of them; a whole lot of them! And maybe bring Mom and Dad to watch, too; Mamu was their cute little grandkid!
"You should come along too! It'd be fun if we...well, those who like to get wet a bit, to come along and play. I bet Mamu would like it." And that little girl was very spoiled, being the only one around. Biski really enjoyed it, as she was such a fun niece to be around!
"Of course, I should check with Lisi first before I make all these plans," she said sheepishly. "It'd be a big thing, but fun!"

"I have a feeling if you talk to Mamu first, she'll make sure Lisi is convinced that it's a grand idea," she said with a wink. She knew it was tricky and she didn't always appreciate when it was done to her with her little ones but it was almost certain that when it did happen everybody had fun.
"I'm sure it'd be no problem rounding up a group to come out here, either," she said thoughtfully, there were dozens of members of the family, some younger than others but all lovers of fun.
"We haven't really done anything like that since all of you were little, you had fun, didn't you?"

Biski laughed. "As long as I can get Mamu to think it was all her idea, then maybe it'll work! I don't want Lisi on me for anything!" Not that she thought Lisi would, but you never knew about some things. Maybe having a cub changed her views a bit? Biski didn't have a clue.
"No, poor Mamu is all alone being so little. That's why we should get this together, give her something big and fun to do, like when everyone played hide and seek a bit back." Maybe not everyone, but it had been a lot of fun, and Mamu had so many playmates to choose from! At least most of the cousins and siblings were willing to play with her.

Shani laughed, Biski was smart to think it would be best to convince Mamu it was her own idea. You didn't need credit to enjoy yourself.. or you didn't need credit until everybody was enjoying themselves. Shani wasn't sure Biski would be able to keep it a secret once everybody was having a great time.
"Of course," she said, "But you haven't been using Hamamu as an excuse not to practice your hunting have you? Lisi is doing enough of that herself." Shani had been wanting to ask Biski if she'd been improving, planning something that was not work made it seem appropriate to bring it up.

Her ears flattened against her skull. "I've been trying, but it's not really going anywhere." She felt bad for avoiding it, but perhaps it was time to vocalize what she had been thinking for so long. "I was thinking about seeing if I could be a scout instead. My nose works much better than anything else I've got, that might help for something."
There, finally! She had said it out loud. She should have said it to her mother or father, but here she was, saying it to her grandmother. Sort of family, but perhaps not to whom she should be breaking the news to first.

Her ears perked up when she realized Biski wasn't going to give a very positive answer, but she was relieved when the question was not outright avoided. She smiled encouragingly once Biski finally spit out what she had been thinking about, not the least bit surprised by it.
"There's nothing wrong with being a scout, Biski," she said, "I'm sure you could do anything you want if you keep trying but if you think it'd be better for you, you should look into it."

Biski perked up, feeling quite relieved. She had been worried that it might not be such a great idea, or safe, but that was just because she hadn't really tried before. THe Pridelands were safe, and the only neighbor that needed to be respected was the Firekin. Things seemed...better? there. She had no idea, that was adult stuff.
"I think I will go see. Maybe see if one of the scouts will let me tag along, see what it is that they do." She didn't want to commit and fail it. Kind of like hunting...not that she failed, but she wasn't that great at it. And she could still help out with the pride!

"If you need helping finding one to follow around for a couple days, you should go talk to your great grandmother Memetuka," she suggested with a smile, thinking of how convenient the large extended family could be sometimes.
"If she doesn't know anybody, she'd know who to ask," she said with a certain nod.

"Oh yeeeah!" That was a good idea. Biski sometimes had a bit of a hard time keeping track of her family...like, she'd remember who most people were, but perhaps not exactly how they were related to her. Or maybe that they were related at all...she needed to get better at that. She'd been doing better, but it'd be fun to see Great-Grandma Memetuka! And her bunny!
"Ok, I'll probably do that when it gets a little bit later," she said, rolling onto her back. "A short nap, then Grammama, and then....maybe scouting." In the dark, or somewhat dark, hm. Mmmm, nap.
