Li Ming was sure the sight of the handsome stranger was a good sign for her and Orion's adventure outside of the Aves packlands. And it was odd: it was Orion who had been patrolling and Li stalking him in order to find something to do, yet by the end of it somehow the orange adolescent had gained control of the party and was now leading her gray companion at a slight incline down the mountains. Now she was sure that they wouldn't have to travel far in order to find something of interest; Jade, her beloved green-stoned necklace, bounced against her chest in silent agreement.

Of course, their journey was not in silence. Li hated silences unless she was just looking up at the moon or Yue was with her; silence was good if Yue was with her. Very, very good. "You think someone else lives here?" Li Ming asked Orion as she hopped over a rotten log, pretty much just following her nose to carve their path. "It seems pretty nice. Plants, running water, trees, and all the stones a rock-lover could ever want. I think I caught a whiff of some wolves, but I'm not sure . . ."

As they traveled down, Orion became aware of a noticeable warming - the high meadows of the Aves lands were certainly warm at this time of year but here the denser forest and damp woodland created a more muggy, wet warmth which was unfamiliar to his northern blood; it was amazing how little of an altitude difference it took for that change. His parents were from northern stock and, whilst he followed his fathers small proportions, he had the thicker, denser fur of both parents.

The young, grey male really did feel like we was being led by the nose, but he hadn't the will to stop Li Ming. It was certainly more interesting than hanging around the edges of the borders hoping something interesting might happen, right? Anyway, she was right, it did seem like a good area for a pack, and it would be unsurprising if they weren't the only ones to think so - therefore, he rationalized, it was definitely a good idea to check it out.

Coming out of his own thoughts, he caught Li Ming's words and raised a nose to the air, letting his nostrils flare and his sensitive sense of smell filter the air. "Mmm I think you might be right" he conceded.

Delu had lost allot of her luster since her litter had been born - it had been a hard pregnancy and an even harder birth and while five pups had survived one had not. Delu found herself thinking of that poor creature often...it had seemed such a unfair outcome given that it had almost taken her life as well.

That had been some time ago now however and while she still wasn't entirely her old self, she was at least out and about again. Puppies made it hard to stay holed up for long - especially when they were puppies like hers. She was out looking for them at the moment and truly wasn't expecting to run across another pair of unknowns this far out from the dens. Startled from her inner thoughts by a bright flash of orange Delu skittered sideways a bit before peering back at the two unknown wolves through the brush. Her first thoughts - that these were spies for the unmentionable evil was laid to rest when she took note of the females youthful form. No one with any sense would send a mere teen out to spy.

Well then..might as well find out why they were here right? Popping her head up over the brush she peered at the two wolves for a few moments before speaking "Can I help you with something?"

Pfff, what an answer. "Speak up, alpha spawn, this'll go so much quicker if you chat with me~ I bet I could play I Spy with you and win. Let's see . . ." She scanned about. "Whaaaat's . . . purple, orange, and green with swirls and arrows and - wait what?" That definitely wasn't describing a tree or a stone or anything she had ever seen for that matter, living or not so living. Frowning, she peered at it more until it popped out of the bush with a head and a mouth and a voice and everything!

"Whoa! Lookit, Orion, it's so . . . purple." Not that Li was unused to seeing that color back in Aves, but not in so much quantity. And the funny designs, gosh! They had some odd wolf stock down the mountain even. "Nope, ah, we're just nosing around to see what's around here," she answered. "From Aves we are. Any packs you could tell us about?"

"purple and orange an..." oh. The female who stood in front of them was a sight to behold - she wasn't as bright as Li Ming, but her swirling patterns were rather showy!

Subtle as a rock falling down a mountain... Orion tried not to sigh aloud as be bobbed his head a slight bow of greeting, trying to look unthreatening but aknowledging even to his small shred of masculinity that a youth just into adulthood, and another who wasn't even there yet were not exactly the most scary of opponents to come across, even on your borders.

"What she means to say" he eyed Li Ming "is that we were out to find out who it was we'd heard were our neighbours in the south" his tone attempting neutrality but tinged with the tiniest hint of annoyance that his first contact with another pack might be ruined by Li's heady rush to talk to anything that moved...

There you see? Delu told herself as the two wolves spoke - the teen was far to rambunctious and talkative to be a spy I mean honestly..she probably couldn't sneak up on a Lynx and everyone knew those cats were dumb as rocks. And their story was certainly plausible - even in her short time in the pack she'd heard telling of other packs in the area, this however would mark the first time she'd seen any sign of them.

Granted she hadn't been out exploring the way she used to back home. It was a bit more difficult with pups, she was surprised in all honesty that she'd managed to sneak off without them all following her as it was. At least the grey male seemed to have a bit more..sense? Or perhaps just a calmer nature, more courtly and so Delu found herself approving of him. Perhaps he was training the youth? That would make sense pairing her with a more stately fellow would undoubtedly have been the wise thing to do. Satisfied that she had figured the pair out sufficiently Delu returned the grey's bob with a stately nod of her own. Sure she might not be an alpha..but she was a princess..and she knew how to act, she might as well help this poor grey by setting a good example for the Orange youth as well!

"'Greetings, travelers from Aves, I am what?'" Li echoed with a confused frown. Apparently she heard "delusional". "Er . . . you said it, I didn't." Obviously now she believed it! What sort of mother name their child something stupid like "Delusional"? Then again, maybe the mom thought she herself was delusional when she saw how weird looking her kid was . . . Yeah, totally that. Made her wonder what the parents looked like . . . Probably kinda awesome, if not a lil' out there, y'know.

Kinda like how awesome looking her parents and brothers were, and how plain she was. Siiiiiiigh. Why did other wolves get such nice coats?

"Iggy-what?" Li Ming added, half-wondering if the femme was half-talking in a foreign language or something. ". . . Oooh, that's a pack? Oooookay. Your alphas probably aren't from around here I guess. Well, anyway! I'm Li Ming, and this is Orion," she gestured with her snout, turning smug. "He's a son of our alpha and shaman."

Instant respect from random Iggy-wolf, she figured!

If Orion could have dig himself a hole in the ground and hid in it, he would have. It was only the fact that he'd look just as stupid doing that as standing here that made him try to salvage what he could of Li Ming's 'interesting' greeting.

On the other hand, he did agree with her allusion that Delusion was an odd name. Really odd. He just happened to have a filter between his brain and his mouth... "Greetings Delusion. As my friend here says, I'm Orion and we're both from up north a bit - of the Aves pack. I hope you won't mind our intrusion onto your lands - we've just been looking to find out those who live nearby".

The truth, really, even if it wasn't entirely something he'd been sent to do this time. If he waited to be told to do something by his mother he'd be waiting until the end of the world before she actually asked him to go outside of the pack boundaries.

Delu merely blinked at the orange female and her bombardment of thoughts. She was becoming more and more convinced that the young wolf was 'special' and the grey - Orion, was her keeper. Perhaps she'd been dropped as a pup - or fallen on her head, that would explain the lack of well..tact.

Of course it would be rude to actually acknowledge this and so she merely gave the orange female a warm look and turned her attention to Orion. "As long as you mean no harm then I am sure you will be most welcome" She assured him politely, it was always good to be polite - a princess certainly didn't do bumbling about being rude and while she retained a healthy suspicion of thee interlopers (there were evil spies still after her you know) they're actions so far had been completely acceptable. If they were spies they were quite bad...since she'd run across them fairly easily.

Besides she didn't think the orange wolf had the attention span to be a spy anyways. No they were likely just what they told her they were - emissaries from a neighboring pack. And such visitors must be treated with respect. "Did you have business with the Alpha's or were you merely seeking to introduce yourselves?" She asked - either way she would be willing to escort them through the area.

How on Telk was Orion saying her name with a straight face? Man.

"Well, if we could meet with the alphas, awesome. If not, that's okay too. We just wanna . . . check it out." A legitimate reason to stick around, yes? "Is everyone as colorful as you?" Li blurted out, her mind still apparently stuck on the whole purple deal. Imagine, a rainbow living just south of their mountain! They would make very pretty babies with her of course. Or she would threaten as much to Orion to see if maybe that got through his skull.

'Course, if that actually happened, all the better. She wanted damn pretty babies either way!

"Better yet, answer me while we walk . . . Please." What a funny word, "please". It was new to the adolescent's vocabulary, something that was "polite". Pssh. She had to try it out this one time and didn't feel much better for it. Made her feel like she couldn't just go and look into the pack on her own. Which she so could.

Buuuut she figured she had to do this with Orion, and knowing him he'd be all stick-in-the-muddy and go about this proper.

Orion gave Delusion a pained look over Li's shoulder - as if to say 'I'm sorry about this'. It probably wouldn't help her notion that Li was 'special', but Orion did sometimes think Li was a little 'unique'... Now that she'd asked to meet the alphas he could hardly refuse, though. It was one thing politely declining to be dragged into such a formal meet-and-greet but to say 'eh, no thanks, not really after Li had already agreed looked... not so good.

"If they're not too busy..?" he said lamely. It was probably for the best, anyway. If he went back without seeing them then he'd hear it from his mother and Jove for not finding out enough.
