Do any of you use it? Does it work? Do you have any sites to suggest to find an ovulation calculater?

Someone here once suggested Mycycle (now femilia.com) It works pretty well (I usually get my period the day it says, except the past few months because I'm off my birth control til my new health insurance kicks in), but it's just an estimation. If you don't want to get pregnant, and you don't want a hormonal birth control, use condoms or don't have sex. Those would be the most reliable methods.
You can try withdrawal and monitoring your ovulation, but quite a few people in my family have had children that way, so I wouldn't recommend either of those.
There are also IUDs, some of which are only made of copper with no hormones. The copper kills the sperm. But in most cases they won't put one in unless you've already had a baby, and if you do get pregnant with one of those it could be life threatening.
I would find yourself a good pill and try that, I've been on Orthocyclen for over 5 years with no ill effects, and I've never gotten pregnant, which is really saying something.

we use symptomatic NFP where we judge based on my mucus when im fertile and abstain then. even during my non fertile times we still pull out and dont have intercourse more than once in a 24hr period, by then the swimmers will have died off inside his body or been peed out or whatever. like triple protection, lol.

I use a Paragard IUD. It's vegan, non-hormonal and completely without hassle. Doctors will put them without having had children if you find a doctor who isn't backward thinking and if your uterus is a good fit. You could also use Glyde condoms which are certified cruelty free unless you're allergic to latex. Personally I'd never rely on a rhythm method or FAM because I absolutely never want children and those methods are known to fail, so it's IUD, abstinence or sterilization for me. Here's an interesting related article on " green birth control".

All I can tell you is that absolutely nothing is foolproof except abstinence or sterilization. I have 2 girls here who were conceived despite Today sponges w/condoms. Yep.
And I'm very glad that I do!

Ellavemia Personally I'd never rely on a rhythm method or FAM because I absolutely never want children and those methods are known to fail, so it's IUD, abstinence or sterilization for me. one of the midwives i know frequently finds iuds in placentas. they fail so often its not even funny. now mind, those are not the hormonal ones, but still. i know i could never use hormonal bc because of the health risks.fam is as effective as hormonal methods if done correctly. heart heart

If mine ever failed I make it no secret that I would have an abortion followed by a hysterectomy. I have had my copper IUD for six years without failure and prior to that I used condoms with spermicide because I didn't realize the stuff isn't healthy. Like you, I would also never (again) use hormones because six months on the pill made my imbalance far worse and I still haven't normalized from it. So far it's been seventeen years sexually active with zero pregnancies for me, so I think I'm doing ok.

Assuming you have a 28-day cycle and a 5-7 day period, then right after it passes would generally be the most fertile time. whee Abstinence is great though.
