It was another heat-filled day in the Tuait'tekem, and Tameri was loving it. The sand between her toes was a little uncomfortable, but she'd learned to live with it as the days had passed. But the sun! The sun made her chubby, cub muscles feel warm and lose, and she felt so mellow. It was so amazing to play in the warmth it provided.
She sat at the water's edge of the oasis, her little head bent to lap up the comparatively cool liquid. The water felt funny as it dripped from her chin, and she turned to her brother, who'd she'd stolen away from their family for some play time, giggling. "I look like those funny two-leg statues in the temple!" It was true, as the water drew her chin fur into a point at the tip. She furrowed her brows, trying to look important like those statues did, but it just made her eyes cross and the concentration made her a little dizzy.

Pic here soon! Compared to his sister, Sute was always a bit serious. Sure he could be drawn out to play, but once he realized how funny he must look and how childlike he was being he would stop immediately. The sun did feel good, and the water was cool, but he wasn't going to smile about it. He could enjoy it just fine while sitting and looking something between serious and pensive.
A few pearls of wetness dripped down his chin to mirror hers; indeed if they hadn't been different colors they would have looked like exact twins. He eyed her display and sniffed. "Those statues are important, and you're just looking like a goof!" He retorted. "This is how you do it..." He dipped his chin in the wetness again and let it form a point; he soaked his paws and then drew the claws through the tiny tuft of mane on his head, slicking it back to look more rounded. Why did those two-leggers look so funny? He wasn't sure, but he knew he could at least do a better job at pretending to be one than his sister.
Thusly prepared, he took a regal pose-feet together, sitting up straight with his chest puffed out. His mouth frowned just so (the usual look he wore) and he closed his eyes to avoid the same eye-crossing troubles. He stood rock still for a moment then said, "Well?"

She was amazed. Well and truly, truly amazed.... Kind of.
"You look like you're gunna explode, Sute!" She poked at his chest, trying to let the air out. She knew this was probably annoying to him, but most things were and she'd learned to do whatever she wanted to anyways. Sute was a stick in the mud, sometimes, and it was her job to make him more interesting!
Once she was certain she'd released all the air, she looked him over. "Now you just look funny." Certainly she was looking strange too, with her chin hair starting to dry into that point, but Sute looked smooth in places that just looked bizarre. With a final harrumph of agreement to herself, she reared onto her back legs and pushed him into the water. That would fix it!

Hey! He wasn't gonna explo--HEY! She'd shoved him, and he let the air out with a PUFF! He struggled to keep his composure; he was CERTAIN she'd only done that because she was jealous of how regal he looked. He'd show her! In a matter of seconds he'd reposed himself, though he was careful to watch through slitted eyes in case she tried to jab him again.
Alas, when she went behind him he didn't think anything of it. She couldn't knock the wind out of him from behind after all!
Bad idea.
One minute he was sitting poised like a god, the next he was hacking and splashing and WET. He broke the surface of the oasis with a snarl and twisted about to find his sister. "What'd you do that for?!" He struggled valiantly in the water and dragged himself, soaking, out. He shook off and glared at the girl cub. "You're so ill-mannered, Tam! I don't see HOW you could ever be my sister!"

She pouted, her lip quivering slightly. She'd only meant to fix him, so he wouldn't look funny. He always cared so much about how he looked. Though, admittedly, he did look a little bedraggled now that he was angry and sopping. She'd only meant the best though.
"I was just trying to fix your fur," she replied in a soft, sad voice. She was his sister. She loved him, and tried to look out for him, and she just wanted him to love her too. "I'm sorry, Sute." Slowly she reached out and ran a paw down the top of his head, smoothing down the cub-size mane apologetically.

Oh great, now he'd made her cry. He hadn't meant to, but she should have expected him to be upset about being pushed into the oasis. What if he'd drowned? He shook himself again, puffing his fur and looking generally a mess. "Man, mom's gonna kill me. Maybe I can get dad to bathe me first..."
He'd all but forgotten his sister and flinched when she moved to smooth his fur down. He sighed. Guess he couldn't stay that mad. "It's okay sis, I guess you were trying to help. Don't worry about that, I'm going to have dad fix it." He stepped away from her then had a thought. He turned back and nosed her, licking her cheek.
"You know I don't think of you badly. You ARE my sister, like it or not, and I'm your brother. Even if you are a bit silly and all that. If you weren't like that then...well, I guess you wouldn't be my sister."

It did make her feel a little better, but she still felt bad for pushing him. Perhaps she should have said something first. Perhaps if she just remembered to do so in the future, she could avoid making him mad. Doubtless there were plenty of other things he'd get mad at her about in the future.
She smiled slightly when he licked her cheek and nodded. "I know, Sute. I love you." She grinned then, nosing his forehead and bouncing away. "I wonder what else we can do today?"
