Steve watched the rides at the carnival going up and down, round and round as his tentacles spun to try and see. The googly eyes glued to them wiggled and waggled here and there, but the tips of the brightly colored appendages was what really mattered.
The spawn was leaning on a bench, enjoying the summer weather as his family ran all about. Wamii had given the boy money and let him play by himself because what trouble could Steve really get into here? The young mother was obviously a bit naive about some things, but really, the boy was just fine with it. Especially because he did NOT want to be standing by when Aiden started whining because he had too much cotton candy.

Melody looked at all the rides and noises around her. It was her first time at a carnival and was excited to ride some rides. Of course her worrying mother was nearby but she tried not to be too protective of the girl. Nicole kept her distance so it seemed like she was not following the young spawn.
Melody zoomed around looking at all the colors and lights. One set of colors that moved caught her eye and walked closer towards it. When she got closer she seemed to recognize the moving colors and the googly eyes made her remember who they belonged to. Giggling lightly she sneaked close by the boy and said cheerfully. "Are you having fun you three?" She smiled to the boy and his tentacles as her tail swished slowly back and forth.

Steve glanced over at the girl and was about to give a bored comment when he stopped. Had Melody been that...cute last time he saw her? Sure the other spawn had been kind of pretty but something about how she looked this time around that seemed to put her more in the cute category. He shrugged it off as coming from living with too many girls too long.
"A bit yeah, how about you?" he asked with a slightly bigger smile than he'd have given before realizing it was her. Sitting up he made a bit of room on the bench. "What have you been up to? You look like you've grown."

Melody smiled and gave a nod. "I am having fun and I played nothing yet! Everything is so colorful and loud here!" She said and looked about some more then back to Steve. "I have grown and so have you. You changed a bit from then but your tentacles still have eyes still." She said with a smile and decided to take the empty space by Steve. It was nice to see her friend again. Maybe this time will be better than when she first met him.
"I am trying to learn songs.... but that is not much fun really." She said and started to think of a different subject to to bore the boy. "Oh. What rides did you ride? Any you think will be fun?"

Steve still had a bit of trouble with the girl's formal way of talking but remained friendly, standing up to stretch. "Yeah, lots of colors and noises." he agreed, looking at the blur around him - it could get sickening if you watched too long really. Looking down, he nodded, a smile coming to his features as she mentioned the tentacles and their eyes, "Mhm, I had to glue a new pair on when I grew but I liked having eyes on there. Made things fun."
"why isn't learning songs fun?" Steve inquired, putting his hands in the pockets of his shorts, "And I haven't ridden any yet. Wanna try something?"

"I think it is cute that you let them keep their eyes and you are right. They do make thing more fun." Melody smiled and looked about at some of the rides and carnival games. "Oh... uh... It is harder when you are learning a song of a different language.... but I am boring you now. Lets have some fun!" With that she jumped up from her seat and ran to what looked like a swinging ship.
When Melody was close to the ride she looked back and waved over Steve to follow her. "Want to ride this or something different?" She said hoping that she could ride the ride with him and not scare him off with it. The ride seemed fun and with all the screaming seemed to make her want to get on the ride sooner than later.

"Oh, you didn't say they weren't in english." Steve pointed out, following after her slowly. "You're not boring, just shy."
Steve looked up at the ride in question. "What's it called?" he asked, wondering very much if this was one of the ones his mom said to avoid. She wasn't keen on rollercoasters but he didn't care - it was more taking Mel on one that would be awkward.

"Well.... I am glad I am not boring to you." Melody said with a small smile then looked up at the ride. "This is a swinging ship from what is looks like. Seems that you sit in a row of the ship and starts to swing back and forth. The middle seems safest and the ends more extreme then your end is up. Can you ride it? If not we can find something safer..." Melody's mind was now thinking did she make a good choice of ride. What if he was told not to ride this one. She was sure not to leave her friend alone on the ground while she had fun.

Steve looked at her funny for a moment, "Mel, I asked what it was called, not what I looked like. I can see that, silly." he told her, moving to lightly bump her shoulder. "I was trying to find out if it was one of the ones mom said not to go on, that's all. She gave me names, not descriptions."

Melody now felt stupid and foolish. He did ask for the name and not a description. "Oh..... Uh...... I am sorry..." She murmured and looked back at the ride for the correct answer to his question. After a few seconds of tiptoeing to see the name she got her answer and felt bad about it. "From the name it sounds like something your mom may not like and I know my mom will hate. It is called Pharaoh's Fury. Maybe we could try something else....." The last thing she wanted is to get Steve in trouble cause of her choice. She still remembered her last choice she made and got him hurt from there fun.

Steve snorted, "Naw, Mom won't mind. She was worried more about something called the Mummy's Revenge or some s**t like that. A big a** rollercoaster thing they manage to get from place to place and set up. She mentioned a few other rides, this just wasn't one of them."
The boy smiled however, "If you don't want to go on it, it's okay. I don't mind but it might be scary for you."

Melody froze a bit at the flavored words that left the boy's mouth then snapped back to reality quickly. At least he could ride the ride. When he said that it might be scary for her she huffed and crossed her arms. "I'm not scared! You might be the one who is scared. I am going on it!" She said with a foot stamp and made her way into the line for the ride with or without Steve. She hummed a tune as she waited for her turn to get on.

"Fine by me!" Steve said with a grin, the boy told her. He darted after the girl and grinned up at the people in line. Just then he noticed the height chart. Oh man, he hoped they were tall enough!

Melody did not even notice the height chart till she was at the beginning of the line and was told to stand by the chart. She smiled and skipped to the chart only to her dismay to too short for it. "Sorry but you are too short for the ride" The man said and guided the small girl out of the line and off the ride. Melody grumbled under her breath and crossed her arms. "I am not that short. It is not like I will get hurt or fly out. Stupid man and his stupid rule." She grumbled more about how stupid it was and waited to see if Steve was able to ride the ride or will back out of it.

Steve, it turned out, was a few inches taller than Mel and just barely made the height chart. But he rolled his eyes and waved the man off, instead heading over to his friend. "Pff, screw that noise. Let's go find something we can both ride." he told her, putting an arm around the girl, hand resting on her far arm just under the elbow as he steered them away.
"There's gotta be things here that don't have stupid charts, right?"
