Rayne glanced around the train nervously. For some unknown god-awful reason, she was always nervous start of term. Looking into her usual compartment she spotted a young boy 'Probably a first year...' she thought with a smile 'Well, better make him feel welcome, he looks more nervous than me.'

With a soft knock to the compartment door, she opened it slowly "Excuse me, mind if I sit with you? This is my usual compartment you see and if you don't mind the company neither do I" she smoothed out her black and blue robe with the Ravenclaw crest and moved her wand from her back pocket to front so that it wouldn't break as she sat.

She smiled sweetly down at the boy awaiting his answer. The small white cat at her side mewed softly as if urging him to say yes. she looked down at the cat with a small, almost catlike mew of her own "Athens! Be polite. It's your fault we're late anyway. If you hadn't spent half the morning chasing that mouse then we would have been here on time." The cat mewed back at her and as if she understood him she replied "Well that's not my problem now is it?"

Looking over to the boy again she smiled apologetically "Sorry about him, he can be a bit rude at times. I'm Rayne by the way, Rayne Storms 4th year Ravenclaw and this is my cat Athens. It's a pleasure to meet you." She extended her hand to him with a smile while the cat gave a small bow.

Rayne looked over at the item being held out to her. Cautiously she took it and examined it closely. "um...thank you, but... what is it?" she had never seen one of these before and with that though she realized that the boy before her was a muggle-born. she personally had no animosity towards them, unlike her mostly slytherin family. In fact, she considered them intriguing and a subject of great interest.

she smiled back at him "None taken. Actually, we dont have those here. the closest thing to this that we have is a chocolate frog. Tell you what, in exchange for this um...three musketeers you called it? I'll get you a chocolate frog when the cart goes around. You must be muggle born, am i right?"

She shrugged "both sides of my family can shift into a cat animegas form...so a cat seemed like a natural choice" she pet Athens gently between the ears as he slept curled in her lap "that's how i can communicate with him... my leopard is so much a part of me that i can communicate with other cats.watch" she gently laid the sleeping cat down and closed her eyes in concentration. soon her form was replaced by that of a large black leopard. it blinked at him a few times before turning back into the human she had been before.

replacing the sleeping cat in her lap she smiled "im a fourth year, and i love it. i dont have much of a home-life so the school kind of fills that void. I assume youre a first year ? Most of the returning student talk about the school itself and what theyre planning to do, not how the school is" she smiled kindly over to him "but to answer your question, everything there is borderline perfect. I mean sure there are a few teachers you would rather hex than face for a whole class period and one of the houses you would do well to avoid if you dont have a back bone, but other than that, its pretty much paradise"

"Slytherin..." she whispered softly with a light shudder. "I almost got placed their my first year, but I knew what kind of people majority of the slytherins are. Some would slit your throat just to move up a spot in the world. Now don't get me wrong, they aren't all like that... some, very very few, are alright people.Just...as a whole, theyre pretty vile"
