It wasn't my favorite thing in the world, no. But I actually really enjoyed it.

I actually thought that considering the movie wasn't even 2 hours, and Book 1 is around 20 episodes, they did a good job. Of course it could have been better. Movies based off tv shows or books and are then turned into movies can always be better, but I think that they did quite a good job with it. There are always things they could have changed and made better and spent more time on, but oh well, whatever. So overall, I liked the movie.

It was... alright. Although the pronunciations really frustrated me. And like I predicted, it was very dark, unlike the series. Aang smiled, like, once, and Sokka wasn't his funny self. He cracked about one joke. And, I realize that you can't cram all 20 episodes into a two hour movie, but they could have kept the opening sequence intact. It would have been funny to see Nicola freaking out and screaming at Jackson.

Rosabelle334 HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE. I wasn't expecting much, but this was just BAD. This describes all of my feelings exactly: http://community.livejournal.com/racebending/246774.html
I read this and died inside. I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY TOOK OUT ROKU. PAKKU IS FAT. AND AANG IS NOW ONG. WHAT.

I would just like to say that the 'an' and sometimes the 'aan' sound is very commonly "ahn" or "on" in asian languages.
Not to mention I have a problem reading anything written in 'racebending'. It irks me, so I can't lol. But I did skim part, and the scenes that were in the part about making it too short....Katara's mother being taken wasn't shown til book three, they showed a bit of aang running off, did the agni kai bit, and in general.....Sokka and Yue? Spent little time together in general.
My only lasting problem with anything, that I can't forgive due to it being a movie and blah blah blah, is that Aang has girls in his airbending class. As in a co-ed temple. Which is entirely out of the question.

I thought it was quite... interesting when they introduced Gyatso as an African-American. rofl
Read a bit of the racebending, and I have to agree that the bending was kind of pathetic. The element, as you bend it, is supposed to travel around your body and then go hurling towards your enemy. It seemed in the movie that they would do this really flamboyant-- and somewhat unnecessary-- martial arts move, and at the end of it, the element chose to move.
Funniest example: In the earthbending town, when the earthbenders are fighting back, there are about six guys doing this Backstreet Boys dance, and all they conjure up is this rock about a foot long. Then, another guy punches it, reducing it to a pebble, which goes hurtling towards the Fire Nation guy. rofl

i'm sorry, but i couldn't help but think that this movie was completely terrible. i almost fell asleep in the theater and it wasn't because i went to the midnight premier.
the bending was probably the biggest thing that irked me. i mean all it was was a medley of unneccesary martial arts moves that amounted to a single strike. they should have had the elements move around the actors at least. i mean the only good bending i really saw was katara's in the zuko vs. katara scene at the Northern Water Tribe.

I cannot truly express how disappointed I was with this movie. The teaser trailer and first two trailers looked so good, but...it didn't deliver. I think if Shyamalan extended how long the movie was, it may have been a tiny bit better...
I watched the first season again after watching the movie...I think I'm better now...not as much rage as this morning, hah
