It had started pouring without warning. That was the part that annoyed XI the most, not that fact that he and his mate were soaked to the skin and his feathered wings were matting and drooping from the weight of the water. In the desert when the rainy season came, you knew that it was going to happen, and the water was welcome, here it wasn't necessary for it to be pouring so damn hard, as if the forests lacked moisture.

In truth, there had been the usual warning signs of a coming storm, but XI had just been too distracted recently to really notice them, and so while he and his mate Sus had been out strolling and talking, he had not been paying attention and they were now attempting to find a place to shelter. The storm was raging so hard that beneath the trees was not good place to hide, with the wind and the lightning, stray branches falling would be a danger to not only the grown herla but their tiny mion as well.

Hong clung to E and Sus' dreads, quivering and cowering and trying to not whimper, her pale pink eyes were shut tight, but she still flinched at the clash of thunder. Up to this point she was trying to be brave, but it was just too much, she didn't mind the rain, she just wanted the sky to be quieter!

Susan stood close to XI; he liked the rain; and he liked the thunder; it was like natures own rave. He was smiling as he listened to another crack and watched as the sky lit up. It was beautiful; if only XI wasn't so nervous about it all; or Hong. He was sort of afraid Hong might have a heart attack on his back. They looked around; trying to find a place to stay that wasn't all just wood; that wasn't a natural lightning rod. Finally he saw something far off in the distance... It looked like a house.

"XI~" He called out over the wind and the rain; pointing towards the house. It was a lot easier to see when the lightning flashed. The place looked like a nice stone cottage; he smiled starting off towards the little haven. His glow sticks blowing like crazy in the wind; he hoped he didn't lose any; usually E would scamper out around now; and take all of the glow sticks down and out of his hair... but now with the both of them having mates... It didn't seem to work out as well.

He chuckled to himself as he made his way up the hill; trying to not let the mud suck his legs in too deep. Wow... this hill was a lot harder to get up when it was so soft. He looked back or ahead to make sure XI didn't leave him; or vice versa; and continued on their way.

He was happy to finally make it onto the porch of the house and be out of the rain. He looked at XI foll of mirth and laughter and shook out his coat; smelling like wet dog he was certain. he looked into the window of the house; it looked very dusty... very VERY dusty; but other then that it looked safe. "XI... I think we found our safety for the night." He said in an excited manner looking over to him full of excitement.

E wasn't afraid of the rain; or the lightning. Just like Susan she loved it immensely. She held Hong close though; and chattered to her in a reassuring tone to make her feel as safe and as comfortable as possible. Telling her how it was ok; how there was nothing the sky could do to hurt her; how she'd keep her safe all night. How she'd hold her all night if she had to just to make her feel better. She played with her hair to try and calm her down the best she could.

"Wonderful," XI shouted over the rain and wind, half happy and half annoyed still, he set to following Sus up the hill, sticking close the whole while. XI was not very trusting of the guardian dwelling, he would have preferred a natural cave to this ancient thing, but after slogging up the muddy incline and getting a closer look at it, it seemed as if it had held up over time, so he supposed it could be trusted.

Once at the entrance of the place XI shook himself and beat his wings hard a few times to rid them of excess water, since his wings were just a beautiful mutation they didn't repel water the way a real bird's wings would, his feathers lay every which way now, and he was discomforted by it.

"Well, lets get inside, hmm?" XI trotted over to the door and gave it a kick, knocking it off the rotting hinges, he turned to Sus and grinned, "Lets hope the rest of it stays standing," and went inside, looking around a little. He kept twitching his wings, giving them a hard flap now and then, wishing for not the first time in his life that they were more like a birds. "Hong?" He looked to the little quivering mion, usually he barely acknowledged her, but he knew she wouldn't deny helping him, that was why he'd kept her at all.

Nuzzling close to E, Hong nodded, she said she was sorry she got so frightened and thanks for always taking care of her, again, then had to grab onto Sus' dreads again when the herla shook.
When they were inside she opened her eyes again, and clung less hard, at least in here, whatever this place was, the bright flashes and the crashing thunder were muffled, so she wasn't quite so terrified.
Hong let go of Sus and looked from E to XI, frowning, but knowing that she should probably help him, she apologized to E further and hopped down, scampering across the dusty floor, and dodging puddles, to climb up XI and set to straightening his feathers out, it was the reason she followed XI in the first place, his lovely feathers, Hong just wished he wasn't so harsh with her...

When Xi kicked that door in... he smiled and walked up to him nuzzling the side of his against Xi's neck; careful of Xi's hair and ears with his antlers. "My big strong prince." He cooed to him sweetly; licking his cheek as they walked in.

Susan looked around the place; it was one bedroom... with what his guardian told him was a kitchen... an old kitchen... His guardian was getting entirely too excited. Apparently; this kitchen was like his old homes kitchen when he'd still been alive. But oh god- "AH-CHOO!"

Susan sneezed loudly; sending up a spray of dust as he did so. he sniffled and looked around as his allergies began to really get to him. He sneezed a few more times looking up at Xi slightly miserable. "Xi... we need to clean this place out..." he said; trying not to breathe in too deeply. he walked back out closer to the door to breathe in the cool wet air. "Can you check and see if there's like... anything to clean this place out with?" He asked hopefully; wondering if maybe he should go stand out in the rain...

Maybe if they could find a bucket... and a mop? Or maybe even a broom it would probably help a lot. just something to get the floor wet; something to get rid of all of that dust...

E held on tight to Hong as they both got tossed around with Susan shaking himself out. E still held onto Hong just as tight though; just becuase she liked holding her so tight and holding her so close.
When Hong left her she followed after her; close on her tail (literally) scampering up Xi's leg as well and crawling into his hair to help get that done so the two of them could go off together and be alone again.
But if Xi said anything more to her Hong... She'd tug his hair and maybe even rip out a few strands. Cause that was her woman darn it. D<

XI couldn't help but smile at Sus, he'd thought that he'd hate to be constantly reminded of what he lost, it was on his mind so often now, the home, the family and the clan he had lost, but when Sus was affectionate and called him 'his prince' he couldn't bring himself to truly mind, it had ceased to cause that painful twinge in his heart, after hearing it so much, and with such love and sincerity behind it.

With E and Hong straightening his hair and feathers the job was nearly done already, he didn't understand Hong's love of his feathers, but the little mion did her only job so well, that she'd finished straightening and preening one wing and was already moving on to the other. XI cringed and sneezed a little too as more and more dust was thrown into the air, (probably from his earlier flapping) he cringed more when it began to settle on his wet form and he sighed when little Hong sneezed and nearly tore a feather out in the processes.

He knew what should be done, but he really didn't want to... "Hong, E, go back to Sus. Love, you might want to go outside again while I do this." His voice was low and tinged in dread, just when he was preened too.

XI went out and stood in the rain, it was still pouring just as hard as it had been and so he was once again soaked to the skin in no time. He waited for Sus and the mion to be out of the cottage and still dripping re-entered, shook himself once, and began flapping his wings with earnest. The rain water flew all over and the dust already in the air swirled around, most of it clinging to his wet wings and the rest of it flying around and shooting out the door on the wind he created, to settle on the porch or be drowned in the rain. XI opened his eyes after a few minuets of this, and ceased flapping, there was water covering the surfaces and floor, but the air was a lot clearer, he himself of course was filthy now, looking like a stray and not a prince of any caliber.

Wherever Hong ended up, she waited, staring bug-eyed throughout the process, she'd not been with XI long, but she had never once seen the male willingly do something like that, she let out the tiniest of sighs as well, because she knew, that after he came back out to rinse, she'd have to help him get clean, and then straighten all those feathers all over again. It wasn't that she minded, no, she'd just of rathered to disappear into a crevice somewhere and nestle down with E as soon as possible... and that wouldn't be happening soon, but at least the dust was, more so under control than it had been.
PostPosted: Thu Jul 01, 2010 2:00 am

Susan watched as Xi came back out there to let Hong and E climb onto him; he smiled at the two of them and let them climb into his dreads to hide away with each other. He waited a few moments; watching the dust fly out of the room in a big swirl of air. He stepped back and actually back out into the rain; not wanting to breath that in either... When it was all done Susan waited for the dust to settle and waited for XI to come back out and into the rain. When he did he smiled trotting up to him.

"You look like a mess." He teased him sweetly. Pressing the flat of his snout against the flat of XI's snout as well. He smiled looking him deep in the eyes and nuzzled a bit; "A very sexy mess." He laughed lightly; pulling away to look up at the sky; closing his eyes and feeling the water just run down his face.

He liked the feel of the water running down his face and body... It was always so calming. so relaxing; as if all of the bad was being washed from his body. Not that there was much bad when he was anywhere near XI... After a few moments of just soaking in the water he walked back inside; his head feeling a few pounds heavier from all the water that had soaked into it.

He waited for E and Hong to climb down from his head before shaking his whole body out again and just letting the water fly. He looked over at the bed... but he was certain that the bed was really full of dust... And maybe it would just kill the both of them if they laid on it...

He turned his head when XI came back and smiled at him; trotting up to him. "Let me groom you?" He asked not really meaning it to be a question as he reached out his head and started to try and fix his feathers.

His ears twitched slightly when he heard his guardian say something about a brush... He pulled away and looked in the direction he'd said it was; and spotted it... it was shiny... but tarnished... Sus walked over to it slowly and sniffed at uncertainly. he'd never used a brush before... but if it meant he could fix Xi's hair... he would try. "Do you want me to try with this?" He asked looking over his shoulder.

E scampered up Susan's legs when they went to hide from all that dust that XI was going to swirl up; waiting for Hong to join her. She licked her face off and kept her out on Susan's back as he walked into the rain. Holding her paws and looking up at the sky just like Susan was; letting the rain wash them both clean. When that was done; and Susan started moving again; she pulled Hong close and told her she didn't look like a mess. She looked beautiful <3
When Susan went back inside she dragged Hong off so that they wouldn't have to groom XI again; going for a spot under the bed and jumping up to scurry and grab a pillow before pushing it off of the bed; jumping off and onto it; and then dragging it back under the bed for the two of them to lay on. She smiled widely at Hong and nodded her to come with her; so that they could both snuggle up close to each other and listen to the rain outside.

"I never want to do that again," XI shuddered and coughed, he felt like the world's largest dust mop, he had no idea what a dust mop was, but he was sure that it wasn't a pleasant thing to be, and that he didn't want to feel like one for any longer. Out in the rain again, XI flushed hot when Sus kissed him and nuzzled the other male in return. "I'd very much prefer to just be very sexy again."

He stood in the downpour and rinsed with gusto, shaking and flapping until he felt clean again, or at least mostly clean, XI really wanted a real bath after that, but they we no where near his lake, and the conditions for bathing were poor at best. He stood waiting in the rain as Sus went and shook himself, soaking the interior of the cottage again, and followed him and went back inside himself, looking around for Hong, he almost called for her when Sus offered and XI couldn't turn him down.

"Ah, sure..." XI relaxed his wings and extended one so that Sus could reach the full length of it and bent his head to the other, nosing and nipping along, laying the ruffled feathers flat again, he was used to the process, taking pride in his appearance mean spending the time to do this often. When Sus stepped away XI continued on the wing he had abandoned, he looked up and quirked his head, "If you think it would help?" He wasn't sure what Sus was referencing, but he trusted the other male to not hurt him, he shuffled in place and quivered his wings, they were in better shape now, but still dripping rain water onto the floor.

Hong squeaked to be going out into the rain again, but the sky seemed to be behaving and so she and E were able to clean up without her shaking and clinging in fear, though she was nervous the whole time that thunder would rumble down from the dark clouds overhead, she relaxed soon enough and blushing red under her pale white fur told E that she wasn't vain like XI was, but it was nice to hear it anyway, also that she thought that E was much more beautiful, of course, but Hong wasn't much for arguing.
Following E back inside, Hong helped E with the pillow and dove under the bed after it was hidden away, she nestled down with E and started to groom her mate, even though they were warm and close tucked away on the pillow, it was comforting to do it, and besides, what girl liked going to bed with wet hair?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 05, 2010 12:11 am

For the few short moments before his Guardian told him about a brush Susan actually found that he liked being able to help groom Xi. He Liked being this close to his prince; he liked thinking that he was of some help. Plus; it let his little Mion E get some alone time with her mate. And he liked being able to do that for her...

He grabbed the brush and held it in his mouth as he moved back over to XI. He would have told him to relax but his mouth WAS full. So in stead he just leaned out his head and ran it through XI's hair; starting at the bottom; and working his way up; not wanting to pull it or anything. He liked Xi's hair; it was lovely and long; and very, VERY silky soft.

He looked over at XI as he brushed his hair; moving around him to be able to get to all of his hair; not wanting to miss a strand. He liked being this close to XI and having a reason to be. When he was done brushing his hair; he set the brush down and kicked it off to the side before looking back up at him; staring him straight on in the eyes.

In that moment... He wasn't sure why or how... But he saw his future in his lovers eyes. He saw the two of them; curled next to each other; with fawns running around them; the two of them happy and content... He closed his eyes to savor the image and moved into XI; wrapping his head and nack around XI's head and neck. This would happen. He was sure it would. He'd never felt this way for anyone else... He wasn't sure how he could feel this way for someone he'd only known for such a short time.

"That was scary XI..." He whispered in a nervous tone. "I just... I looked into your eyes and...." He nuzzled into one of the spines of XI's wings uncertainly. As if by saying this he might scare XI away and he wanted to at least be able to show his affection one last time. "I saw us... together... And we had fawns." He admitted before pulling away and looking away and down at the floor feeling foolish.

"Stupid huh?" He said laughing and pawing at the earth. He would leave if XI asked him too; he just hoped he wouldn't want him to until after the rain had stopped.

E shook her head as she pulled Hong close and started to lick out the water form her hair; doing her best to groom her. When she was happy with how the grooming had gone and smiled and pulled her close; laying down and over Hong. Almost as if she protecting her. She nuzzled into her a few times and licked her cheeks once or twice. Chirping to her how much she loved her and how nice this was; and if their herla decided not to come back here they needed to take the pillow with them. Becuase Hong deserves nothing but the best and she just wants to give her all of that. Nuzzling her again and scratching her behind her ears she can't help but tell her how adorable she is for being so modest and shy.

XI went still when Sus came at him with the brush, extending his neck so that his mate didn't have to stoop to reach the ends of his hair, once he realized the ancient object's intended use. "That's nice," He murmured, "too bad I can't return the favor, I don't think your hair will ever become untangled ever again, if it ever was to begin with~" He smiled, teasingly.

When Sus finished, and kicked the brush away, he continued, "Don't lose it, I want to bring it along~" But his teasing smile faded to a curious expression as Sus got serious. XI hugged his mate in return, nuzzling the sides of their faces together, careful as always of Sus' antlers with the dangling glow sticks and his own long ears tangling or catching. His ears twitched as he listened.

"Not stupid at all," he shook his head, turning to nuzzle Sus' face again, lifting his chin, not understanding why he'd turned away, "slightly terrifying I'll agree, but not stupid. It's not all that unnatural to want a larger family, after all, is it?" He let out a soft sigh, not wanting to have to tell Sus the reason he was terrified of them producing offspring together, but willing all the same. Perhaps Susan would agree, or perhaps he would at least understand his reason for reluctance.

"My parents didn't think so, our clan, and kingdom, but in the end it was their undoing." XI wrapped his head and neck around Sus' to keep him close, "I don't want anything to happen to you, lover. I can't lose you."

Hong blushed and denied it all, she wasn't that great, she was just happy to be important to someone like E. She thought that the pillow was lovely to nest with for a rainy night, but it would be a lot of hassle to drag along with them when they left again, and that she could make a nest anywhere, out of anything so long as she got to settle down to sleep warm and safe and in love with her E, what else could she possibly need, when she was this warm, this safe, this well taken care of?
PostPosted: Wed Jul 14, 2010 12:50 am

"Oh thank guardians." Susan Said in a sigh of relief. "I don't know why I said that..." He admitted nervously. "I mean... I want to have a family with you so bad XI..." He admitted to his mate. "I want to raise fawns at your side." He continued with a goofy sort of smile on his face. He even went so far as to laugh and whisper out "I want to have rainbow glowy babies with you XI." How stupid did that sound? Oh god he should just go and hide his face in that bed. gonk

But when XI explained himself to Susan he nodded his head understanding it all. His mother must have died during child birth... That explained the comments XI would make about him not knowing his mother very well. About others telling him what kind of a female his mother had been... He wondered momentarily what it would have been like to grow up with a mother like XI's... or even to grow up with the memory of a female like that; instead of the memories of a mother that he himself had grown up with...

But when XI told him that he couldn't stand to lose him... All Susan wanted to do was make his lover laugh. "Then you should bear MY children~" He whispered to him chuckling lightly and nipping at his mates ginormous ear as he did so. "But you know~" He continued, moving away from XI and wiggling his hips. "I'm the one with the child bearing hips." he laughed at him before moving over to the bed.

Snuffing at it he found where the two love birds were and he lifted his head immediately making his way away from there. But at the same time grabbing a hold of the mattress and pulling it off of the wooden box thing it was on top of. He pulled it over to XI; even though it was really awkward to and for some reason very heavy. But his Guardian assured him it would be very soft to lay on.

So, once he had it in a place that he liked it at he laid down and looked up at XI with a smile on his face. "Come sleep with me prince charming <3" He purred to XI nodding his head towards the spot next to him. "Lets snuggle and listen to the sound of the rain." He said with a happy small smile on his face.

E rolled her eyes. Her mate really WAS that great but she was sleepy; and the rain was nice. And she was warmly nestled up with the love of her little life. She nuzzled into her and told her she would make her believe every word she told her even if it took her the rest of her life. And that the more she tried and denied her own cuteness the more beautiful she would be.

She curled her tail over Hong's body and chattered sweet things into her ear. About all the good things she was going to give her in life. And that her mate would have the best in life! And if Hong liked this pillow after a nights sleep on it; then she would make sure that they could take it with them.

When Susan took the mattress she lifted her head nervously with a squeak before staring at him with an angry glaring look. Then again... at least the two hadn't tried to sleep ON them...

Rainbow glowy babies? XI mouthed, eyebrows raised disappearing under the headgear he wore, he couldn't say that the notion was entirely repellent... And he -just knew- that Sus would be a wonderful parent, but he frowned when Sus turned away, this just had to be the influence of that Hayden. Damn, he swore to himself, it seemed to XI that Sus had caught baby fever, he wished that his children were terrible brats in the future.

All at once Sus was light-hearted, making jokes, XI shook his head, he didn't understand, and trotted over to help Sus with the mattress, together they pulled it to the open area of the room and then settled onto it, it was strange to lay on, this squashy, springy surface, but he did all the same, snuggling against Sus and opened his mouth to explain further, wanting to be understood.

"You are my family, Sus," He began in a soft voice, "I don't have anyone else, but I don't need anyone else either, you're all I want and need. I don't know if its because of what happened, maybe it is and I'm just trying to convince myself otherwise, but I never wanted siblings either. It wasn't me who killed her, but them. It destroyed my father, losing her, losing them, and he in turn destroyed the rest of the clan, leading them into ruin. If you were to die and leave me alone, I would have nothing. I can't go though that again, lover, please understand..." His voice was soft and pleading. XI wanted Sus to consider the darker side of this 'family' he so desired.

Hong didn't see the eye rolling, tucked as she was again E's chest, it would have hurt her to see that E was brushing off what she felt was true and important, but instead she just lay as she was, curled and held and listened to all the extravagant and unnecessary things that E spoke of, murmuring occasionally how nice and interesting it sounded, thinking to herself that her life was already the best for her, because E loved her, and she didn't want or need more than that.
Hong lifted her head when the mattress was pulled away, smiling at E's nervous squeaks, and wrapped her arms more tightly around her mate, hiding a smile. She told E in a soft voice that they should sleep, morning would come around soon enough, and she was looking forward to all the wonderful things that would bring.

Susan's ears pressed back as he listened to XI talk and he suddenly felt as if he was a little... selfish. He shouldn't have said anything about kids. He didn't know how much just a simple child-birthing had ruined his mates life. But in a way he felt the same way. XI was all he wanted; all he needed (as far as a relationship went). But he just knew that they would be perfect parents. He'd seen some pregnancies turn out bad. But he'd never stuck around long to see what happened as a result.

But siblings are different then kids. Siblings are annoying brats that you can't yell at becuase then your mother will get angry with you and chew you out. Siblings are the one's you can't get rid of; who get your things when they come around becuase they're younger and cuter. Siblings are the ones that steal your mothers love becuase their father didn't leave you and your mother in the middle of the night. Siblings are the ones with fathers that will beat you becuase they lied and said you broke something you didn't.

Susan HATED siblings.

But babies, kids of your own. Those were something else entirely. Babies you could coddle and love; and they'd love you right back. And his babies would look up at him like he was the most important person in the world. His babies would be cute and adorable and would make up for all the holes in his life that XI couldn't fill. Sure he loved E; but E treated him like he was her baby... So not even his little pet could help...

Everything that XI said though... If he'd gone through that; losing his whole family; losing his whole herd. He'd be terrified too. So he nodded his head and kept his need and want of children to himself. He would never leave XI alone though... never; not really. He'd become a ghost if he had to; a zombie even. And stay at XI's side for the rest of XI's life. "I understand." He told him. And honestly he did. "I never thought of it like that XI... I would be terrified too if I was you..."

He whispered nuzzling into him in an attempt to comfort him the best that he could. "I don't want either one of use to be alone ever. That's the whole point in finding your soul mate right? So that you'll never have to be lonely again." He smiled at him and licked his mates cheek and ears and hair a bit intimately. A life with out his mate was something he didn't want to ever even consider.

E nodded her head and smiled rubbing her hands up and down Hongs back. She whispered a few dirty things into her lovers ear nosing into her before chirping a light laugh and closing her eyes. Once her mate had talked about them going to sleep she suddenly realized just how tired she really was. So she slowly drifted off to sleep; smiling at the female in her arms.

"I know I'm being selfish, worrying too much over something that might not happen, just because it can happen, doesn't mean it will. I've just always told myself that I was going to be alone, that I was meant to be alone or else that I should have ended the same as the rest of the herd. Until I found you, my whole world changed for the better." He lay his head down.

"Having fawns, that could bring us so much more happiness. Right?" XI secretly wished he'd seen what Sus had, that he could be -sure- that it would workout alright in the end, but the world was never sure or just. He shivered slightly, he always was rather warm, but he felt chilled, that couldn't be a good sign.

"How about, I'm not saying 'no' to the whole idea of fawns, I couldn't do that to you anyway, but lets just, wait a while... enjoy the two of us," he cocked an ear and smiled, "Four of us..." *cough* "And sometime in the future we can think about them again. What do you think?" XI nuzzled against Sus warmly, nosing his cheek, nibbling his hair teasingly, trying to comfort Sus and at the same time, let his fears and past drift away, he'd promised Sus his everything, that he'd lay his happiness upon him, denying Sus the chance for children wasn't fair, and would make his mate unhappy in the end, he couldn't do that. He'd just have to find someway to be absolutely sure that everything went well, so that nothing would happen to Sus, to his family ever again.

Hong squeaked and flailed a little, startled by E's talk, she was still so easily embarrassed and she just knew that XI could hear them, she hushed E and licked her cheeks, flushed pink under her pale white fur, settling down again and curling herself tightly against E and drifted off, warmer than usual.

Sus smiled and shook his head leaning in close to XI and trying his best to comfort and warm him. "No XI; how could you be meant to be alone?" He whispered to his mate. "That's so sad to even say. You're such a good herla XI; herla's like you shouldn't be upset unless they make themselves upset. Let's not worry about the past; and let's not think about the future just yet. Let's just focus on us? You and me. And Hong and E. On our family." He told him chuckling a little at how weird their family was.

"Fawns would be nice. But I don't want them now. I never I said I did. We don't know each other well enough for that. We still need time to focus on us... Would I like kids some day? You bet your sweet a** I would. But for right now. I'm happy with what I have. You make me happy XI. Nothing in the world could change the way I feel about you."

He told him smiling at the nuzzles, and the nosings and the nibbles. Returning them in kind when he could. "I totally agree with you XI. We need our time. But just know this... the bears; they're always working on making their potions better; and I hear that the mortality rates from child birth have been dropping dramatically. I bet when it comes time for you and I to have little winged princes and princesses of our own; that there will be no chance of anything happening to me." Becuase he was so certain that he would be the mommy. As if his prince would carry fawns... though the thought of a fat XI did make him laugh inwardly.
