The bright summer sun shone down as the elder angelic made her way towards the river. She was humming a mixture of songs she'd sung in her lifetime, nodding her head of blonde crowned in a simple gold tiara towards the small animals she saw, finding herself in a rather good mood. It didn't take her long to reach the river and she stepped up to it, careful to keep her skirts from getting mucked up.

A soft glow seemed to float around the forest, no noise coming from her in any form. Upon closer inspection, it could be seen it was an otter, an elder otter, and quite female. She had no back legs like most otters had, but instead a flowing, feathery like tail. Sensing water up ahead, she floated towards it, and paying not attention to the other being there, she floated down right into the water, barely making a ripple.

It wasn't necessary to point at that though the princess had become much more accustomed to freedom, she was still very sheltered. So it was unsurprising that she gasped upon seeing the unique otter. Perhaps it was more the floating, for she had never learned to use her wings much at all, than the looks of the female.
However despite the surprise, and the flush she felt coloring her cheeks, she found herself in awe. How did one float on the water like that? And though inside her head she could hear Flora, Fauna, and Merryweather (even after all this time on her own) chiding her about speaking to strangers--she stepped forward, a forepaw dipping into the water and spoke to get the other beings attention.
"Hello? Excuse me?"

She stayed stationary, her eyes closed as she stayed in one spot, but only opened her eyes when she was addressed. Her violet eyes trained onto the large, winged female and she turned her body to full face her, paws laying on top of the water, making small ripples, ".....yes....?

She realized then that she really didn't have much of anything to have disturbed the otter about. It was a good thing the fur on her cheeks prevented her from looking as red as a ripe tomato. Still, the scant bit of masquerade she'd learn when being trained for court politics resounded in her head (never when it suited her and she wanted that ability to be remembered) so she smiled graciously and tried not to look as though she'd opened her mouth without reason.
"I haven't seen you before. I thought, perhaps--is there anything I could help you with?" she gave the female a bit of a hopeless look because it had started out sounding fine, like a princess wanting to know her subjects, before turning into sounding like she really didn't have a clue (which she didn't). Oh well, hopefully it would be all right.

She looked at her, as if looking into her, which Cresselia often did when encountering someone she did not know. But when the other female seemed to stumble a bit with her words, she couldn't help bug give a soft, almost mother like smile as she floated closer towards her. "......you would give me your assistance....?" she asked, having already been set on an important task.

Aurora nodded her head, the tips of her hair that curled bouncing against her shoulders, without disturbing her crown. "Of course, as long as it isn't anything cruel though I don't think you would ask such things of me," she replied. Truthfully, she often thought that others went so far to preserve her innocence and naivety that even a villain would be hard-pressed to ask her to do something sinful. (Although she, and certainly everyone who had met and cared for her, hoped she'd never run into such a situation to find out.

".....I am looking for a thing....it will be very important to me soon and I cannot dally. You will help me find them?" she asked, getting closer to the female, her paws walking along the water. "......they call them clams. I am looking for clams. To house my children." she stated and when she was finally close enough, you could see where her belly had started to extend out.

The blue of her eyes sparked in wonder at the slight bulge of the other female's belly. She smiled kindly, "Oh, you're with children! How wonderful!" She didn't know much about pregnancy, little more than what a parent might tell a young child who was curious (or in her case, three fairies who were only trying to be helpful), but she tried to push the questions that blossomed in her head away.
"I would be honored to help you find clams for your little ones..." Her brow furrowed, lips pressing together, "I should ask your forgiveness, I didn't introduce myself and I don't know your name."
She took a step back, curtsying grandly, "I'm Princess Aurora, and you are?" After all, it might be difficult to call the other otter's attention if they had no knowledge of each other's names.

A small smile went across her muzzle and she nodded her head in thanks. When asked for her name, she was quiet for a bit, still not used to the concept of giving away her identity, "......they call me Cresselia...."

"That is a lovely name, Cresselia," the princess replied sincerely. She turned her gaze back to the river and surrounding shore realizing then that while she knew what a clam was, what it looked liked, she'd never heard of finding clams for housing babies in.
She gave a soft little sigh, sometimes she felt like such a child herself. "I've never looked for clams for children. Do you know much about this ritual?" She really hoped Cresselia did.

Cresselia slowly shook her head in the negative, dipping her paws into the water, "No, these will be the first of my offspring. But....I did ask one of my extended family who has had children of her own. She adviced to look for clams that are big and strong and cannot be easily opened." she explained.

Well as long as she had an idea of what she was looking for. She knew from swimming and food expeditions that clams often buried themselves in mud, which pretty much the entire river bed and shore could be hiding one. It didn't narrow down where to search but it was more than likely that wherever they chose to search, they had a chance of finding one.
She tilted her head, "That will be helpful to know," she murmured as her eyes tried to find the best spot. Her skirts were forgotten as she moved into the water, just enough to cover her paws and feel the water slosh against her mid forearms. It seemed as good as any place to start.
"Shall we try digging here?" she asked.

Nodding her head, she floated away to another spot that was close to Aurora. Her paws glowing, she moved her paws out, like she was spreading something. Under the shallow shore, the mud parted, but she didn't see anything of use.

Aurora's eyes grew wide at the way the other otter dug, shook her head lightly and returned to looking into the water. She pressed her paws into the wet sediment that was much like clay, pushing the firm mixture away in hopes of finding a clam. As she was wont to do, she began humming to make the chore seem less like work (though she hardly considered it such) and more like fun. It was too bad none of the woodland animals liked clams, else she might have tried asking them for help.
