Zee hated to do this. He really, really did. He needed a babysitter; and the obvious choice was one he dreaded. He would have much rather preferred giving his fiancee, Stasia the job. After all, she was who Leyla would think of as her mother. Reluctantly, and hoping the fae would refuse, Zee dialed his Matthias' phone number.

"Hey, Matth? I need a sitter for Leyla while I see the doctor. Do you think you could watch her for me? Howl's out seeing friends, and I don't exactly trust Thali with her." He meant he didn't trust Leyla not to make a snack out of the elf. "If you can't, I can always ask Stasia."

Matthias smirked at the phone. The little elf was asking him for a favor? "No, no need to ask her. I am quite capable of watching over the child." Was that a hint of amusement in his voice? "Besides, Stasia has works in an hour or two; I'd end up watching her anyways. Will you be bringing her over here, or shall I be heading over there?"

This would be a good opportunity to talk to the child of his ilk, to find out how much she knew about herself and to clear things up, if need be. That, and he could start planting to proper seeds into her young, impressionable mind. Perfect.

Zee sighed, though whether it was in disappointment or relief, was hard to tell. "Stasia's working?" that was definately disappointment. "If it isn't too much trouble, I'd prefer it if you came here," he said, after recovering. He certainly couldn't have Leyla getting into Matthias' dangerous belongings, now could he?

He held the phone away from his face for a moment to talk to Leyla. "See now, Leyla? Matthias is coming to babysit you. I want you to be good."

Leyla looked doubtful. Matthias? Matthias? The infant could only vaguely remember him. Wasn't he the pretty man she'd met soon after coming home? He was hers, she remembered. There had been another, a nicer one, one closer to her size. She liked that one better. What had been his name? "Bring Milo," she said.

"Leyla says to bring Milo, Matth," Zee said with a shake of the head. "Dunno why, she's taken a liking to your twins. Loki's here already."

Matthias just smirked. "Oh, it is no trouble at all, little one. I will be over very soon." Was that a hint of laughter in his tone? "And I will bring Milo; I hope he behaves." And by hope, he meant he'd better.

--------------

The tall, dark, and oddly-chipper fae made his way towards the door, one arm holding his dozing toddler, the other holding his sleeping infant. He couldn't very well have left them at home, could he? He readjusted his grip on the the two as he stopped on the stoop, checking over his shoulder to make sure that the boy was still following.

Milo lurked behind his father, glaring daggers at the man's back. One day, he'd take out the old man, and anyone else who stood in his way. Feh, the old geezer'd gone soft with age; pathetic. He'd never end up like that. No, sir. Once his reign of terror started, he planned to keep it ongoing till the end of ages. Just you wait, world!

Zee was starting to regret his choice of babysitters. Scratch that, he'd regretted it the moment he'd asked Matth. Why couldn't he have asked Thali to babysit for him? Or Risa? Or someone who wasn't Matth? And had the fae just called him 'little one' over the phone?

"Dad's here!" Loki called from his place at the window. He'd been waiting for them ever since Zee had told him they were coming. He went to open the door for them, while watching Leyla play on the rug. "Hey Dad, Milo," he waved to his twin. "Uncle Zee's in the other room, getting ready for the doctor's," he added. "Aife and Kole sleeping?" he lowered his voice. "You can set them on the couch, or maybe use Leyla's playpen."

Leyla looked up from her toys on the rug. She set eyes on Matthias first, and then Milo. She opted for the latter, and made her way over to him via crawling. She still couldn't walk. "Milo!" she greeted.

Matthias smiled at his son, nodding his head in greeting since his arms were full. "Yes, they are. I will go place them in the playpen so they will not be bothered. The little ones need rest." he said, nodding as he headed over to place the sleeping infant and drowsy baby in the crib. "Anything I should know before the young elf leaves?" he asked, glancing over at his son.

Milo offered a small smirk and a wave. "Hey bro." he greeted, trying out the unfamiliar lingo. He was trying to modernize his speech so he didn't sound so much like him. He then looked down, chuckling. "Hey there, little bit." he greeted, picking the little infant up.

"His phone number's on the fridge," Loki said, gesturing to the kitchen. "He says if we have an emergency to call him first. And he says not to try feeding Leyla. She's got some kind of special diet, I think. I'm not exactly sure. There aren't any bottles in the fridge."

Loki snickered at his brother's attempt. Milo, trying to be cool? Hilarious. "Hey man," he replied. "'Sup?" He was much more accustom to the new age lingo; his older brother had made sure of that. He studied Leyla and Milo for a moment before glancing at his father. "I think that's all you need to know," he said, as Zee made his way into the living room.

"I missed you! You never come see me anymore," Leyla complained, leaning against Milo. "Come see me more often. Or I'll get mad. If I get mad, I'll bite you, okay? So you know."

"Stop calling me young, Matth," he grumped, frowning at the fae before veering his gaze to Leyla. "Be good for Matthias, okay? I'll bring you something special when I get back." He nodded at Milo, ruffled Loki's hair, and left the house.

"If the child gets hungry, I'll feed her." Matthias said, rolling his eyes. As if he didn't know how to feed his own kin; the mere inkling was insulting. He then turned to smile at Zee as he left. The little elf was oh-so amusing, thinking that someone his age could tell their elder what to do. Simply precious

"Nothin' much, man. Just chillin." The words, while fluent in his head, rolled awkwardly across his tongue. He shook his head, deciding to let it go for now. He'd definitely have to work on it more. He then smiled at Leyla, hugging her lightly. "I'll try and visit, kiddo. Been busy with the old man grounding me and all." And now he was mimicking his aunt. Couldn't he come up with his own dialect?

Loki shrugged. "Uncle Zee seemed under the impression that only he could feed her," he said. He shook his head at Milo. Poor Milo, stuck with Dad and Stasia for company. "Bro, I think you should come hang out with Miles and me sometime," he said. "Spend the night, or something? Play video games, stay up all night, eat popcorn? Hunt for spiders and lizards in the backyard and scare Mom with them?" He glanced at Matth guiltily. "Sorry dad."

Leyla frowned, and patted Milo's cheek with one hand. "Milo? You sound funny. Stop it." Why was Milo acting so weird? She didn't like it at all. "I'm Leyla, not 'kiddo'," she reminded him. Had he forgotten her name? She reached for Matth. "Matthias!" Maybe he would remember her name.

Milo nodded in agreement. "I would if the old fogey'd stop grounding me." he said, sighing. "I try to have a little fun, and he goes and grounds me. Honestly, can you believe that?" He then looked to Leyla, offering a smile. "Kiddo's a nickname. You know, a term of endearement." The smile slowly faded....she wanted him? Fine. Whatever. He held the baby out to his father, rolling his eyes.

Matthias shook his head. "He is wrong in that assumption." he replied as he gently took Leyla from his son. "Hello, little Leyla. How have your days been since I last saw you?" he asked, looking down at the small child.

Loki sighed, and nodded in agreement. "I believe it," he said. Milo had always been one to get into trouble, most of the time deserving it. "Come over, though. We'll do stuff you can't get into trouble for--like kill orcs in video games. It's almost as fun as killing them in real life, I think. I've never actually killed an orc." He paused and shrugged at his father. "If you say so," he said.

Leyla frowned at Milo, and reached a hand towards him. "I love you, Milo," she said. "Matthias looked lonely. He needed a hug." She looked up at Matth, and smiled, her two lone teeth sparkling. "Good. Daddy's been sick though," she looked slightly concerned. "Poor Daddy."
PostPosted: Sun Jul 18, 2010 11:27 pm

Milo nodded at his brother. "What game?" he asked, curious. Oh, he loved video games, but with a technophobe of a father....he didn't get to play many. Oh, how envious he was of his brother, getting to live with their lax mother. "And why would anyone want to kill orcs? They make good allies according to the books I've read. Perfect assistance for helping with the pillaging of a village. He just nodded at his sister; yeah yeah, whatever.

Matthias arched an eyebrow. "Why do you keep calling my "Matthias", little one?" he asked, smiling slightly. It was cute, but at the same time, slightly offsettling.

"Well, we could play Halo," Loki suggested. "Or Bioshock, or Lord of the Rings. That's the one where you kill orcs. They aren't very smart in that game. They make an awesome sound when they die. Mom doesn't like me playing Halo, though. She tried taking it away yesterday. She doesn't really like Bioshock either..." Loki was trying to seem as unseelie as he possibly could, to impress his brother, but honestly, he didn't like games where things died or got hurt. He liked Pac-man. "We can play as a team in the Lord of the Rings game, if you want."

"Because that's your name," Leyla said, slightly confused. "Why, Matthias? Don't you like your name? Mommy doesn't like her full name either. Daddy doesn't like his real name, but I like mine! It's pretty. Yours is pretty too."
PostPosted: Mon Jul 19, 2010 12:07 am

Milo had only vaguely heard of Bioshock; he hadn't heard of the other two games at all. Cursed Matthias, confiscating his hard-earned, aka stolen, gaming magazines! "Eh, I'm game for any of them. You can pic." he said, trying his best to seem apathetic. He didn't want to look like an over-enthused moron after all.

Matthias frowned a moment. Zee hadn't told her? Stupid child of an elf. He'd have to have a talk with him later. But now, he had a child to inform. "It's not that I don't like my name, Leyla. It's not that at all." he said, pausing to think og how to word it. "You see....I'm your genetic donor. Your other father, bound by flesh and blood. You, Leyla, are of my ilk, just as Milo and Loki are."

Loki frowned. Milo didn't seem excited about playing video games at all. "We could do something else," he suggested, trying to please his brother. "We could play Pac-Man if you like. It's a fun game."

Leyla stared, before frowning in disbelief. "I don't have another father, silly," she said. "Everyone knows babies come from one girl and one boy. Not two boys." She looked at him skeptically. "Besides. You're fae. I'm an elf. Everyone knows elves have more elves and fae have more fae."
