Eri lives in large oriental-style house with her gaurdian, a man by the name of Kaitou Watanabe. Kaitou is not only very intelligent, but skilled in martial arts and with a sword as well.
He has long lavender hair, and matching eyes. When he's not training, or studying at school, he works as a book-keeper at the Academy's humongous library.
Kaitou found Eri wandering around the streets when she was very little, along with her white and pink furry pet, Sakura. The girl had no memory of anything other than her name, and it was obvious she had no home, so he took her into his care.

The Past-Memories A small child, with messy, chin-length brown hair wandered through the alleys of the unfamiliar town, trying to find shelter from the rain. Her ripped up overalls, and red shirt were becoming soaked. Her bare feet slapped against the wet pavement. Huddled in her arms was a small, white and pink fuzzy creature that resembled a kitten.
Thunder rumbled, drowing out the rumbling of the pair's stomachs. "So hungry..." the little girl mumbled, staring up into the cloudy, gray sky.
Just then, a shadow loomed overhead. She spun around to see a figure behind her. Kaitou Watanabe, only a five or so years older than herself. He took her by the hand and brought her to his home. And from here, they became inseperable.

"Hey Kaitou, I'm leaving for that interview!" Eri called from where she was standing just outside the front door.
Her 'cat' Sakura was curled up on one the couches, and yawned as if she could care less.
Eri rolled her eyes. Kaitou appeared, and laughed at the too, before waving the girl off. "Good luck. I'll see you later. Make sure you're back for dinner."
"Alright," and with that she was gone.
It had been 11 years, almost 12 when it came June, since the day that young Kaitou had taken Eri and her pet in. Well technically it would have been his parents of course. They had both died later in a fatal accident on their son's birthday. To this day Kaitou doesn't really like to celebrate. ;_;
~~~
The next day, a proud and ecstatic Eri headed back home after a hard days work. She'd gotten the job obviously, and was now able to contribute to the house payments. "Finally. All this time Kai-san's been having to do all the work so I can stay here. Now I can earn my keep." whee
"Heyyy, I'm back from work again," Eri called as she came in the front door. "You'll never guess who I met on the way home. This strange woman, and-"
Kaitou peeked around the corner of the door leading to the kitchen, and eyed the lantern, "So, what's that for?"
"Well you didn't let me finish. This lady I met, she'd showed me the most amazing thing; spirits manifesting from them. She called them 'lanturns' with an 'u'."
"You wasted your first paycheck on THAT?" he sighed, shaking his head.
"B-but..." The girl then realized what she'd done. She had meant to use the money to pay for her share of the rent, but she'd been talked out of it by the woman named Hakari.
Kaitou noticed her hurt expression. "It's okay, maybe next time."
Eri nodded. "Yeah....." She was upset, but at the same time she couldn't help but be happy with her purchase. She had believed every word, and even seen the mysterious 'Toshi'. She was real. I know it.
Sulkily, Eri climbed into bed after hanging the pretty lanturn by her window, where it's gentle glow illuminated the room. It made the girl feel warm, and safe like she had a strong connection with it. She was becoming more and more sure of her purchase with every passing moment. Kaitou would have to deal with it. She could still manage to make enough money to pay the rent. "I'll work my hardest. I'll show him," she whispered, rolling over under the covers. "Yeah...he'll see...."
"Morning already?" Erin mumbled as she slowly crawled out of bed, and slipped on her slippers. She walked over to check on the lanturn and gazed out the window as she did so. She could see Kaitou outside practicing his kendo. "He's always so busy...He leaves for library work at 8am...I wonder if he's had breakfast."
She hurried outside, hopeing she could at least do him the favor of making his meal. "Kaitou-san, have you eaten yet?" she asked, crossing her fingers.
"No, why?" he questioned, quirking a brow.
"Well I'll make you breakfast then. Is that okay?" she asked.
He turned to face her. "Yeah......if you want to. But you don't have t-"
"That's alright. Of course I'll make it," She gave a smile, waved, and went back inside. "I'll make pancakes! These'll be great." The girl was always eager to please.
After awhile she'd finished preparing. The kitchen smelled wonderful. She went to the door and called Kaitou in. He nodded and came inside. He sat down at the table and began eating. "Mmmm hey....these are pretty good."
That was all Eri needed to hear. She bowed, and excused herself.
"Hey what about you?! Aren't you going to eat?" Kaitou called.
"No I gotta get ready!" It was indeed time to get ready for working. After a shower and quickly getting dressed, she rushed outside. "Later Kaitou-san!" And she was gone.
Eri waltzed into work right on time, lanturn dangling at her side. She'd have to go around back to the locker rooms though. A uniform was required, and she didn't want to get it messed up on the way there and neither did any of the other employees and so they would usually change there.
As she walked into the locker rooms, she bumped into her winged friend Pyper. "Hey there!"
"Hey what's up?" her friend answered as she changed into the strange kimono/victorian dress mixture of an outfit.
"Not much. Though I met this mysterious woman on my way home from work yesterday. And I bought this pretty 'lanturn'. It's supposed to becoming an actual living being!"
"What really? No way! That's so cool!"
"Yeah but Kaitou-san wasn't too happy. He doesn't believe me," Eri pouted.
"Well I believe you."
Eri nodded and smiled. "Thanks Pyper," she said, giving her a hug and placing the lanturn safely in her locker.
Once they were ready they both headed back out to the main shop to open and wait tables. Their boss was already in the kitchen supervising the two chefs.
This little cafe did pretty good business, and the girls immediately set to work as people came fileing inside.
