OK. He had to admit it was hot. But he also had to admit it could have been hotter. Mato was currently lying in the water of the drinking place, feeling like he was about to be boiled alive. What's worse is that there wasn't a gust of wind! WIND! That's all he needed now to stay cool and happy. Heck, if someone came and blew on his wet fur it would be fine. The pale pink and white male let out a yawn and moved deeper into the water, so when he was laying down, only his head was visible.
Well, this was a bit better. A few seconds later, that big head of his went under and stayed there until he needed to breath. He came up, gasping and flailing around, sputtering and coughing. It could easily be mistaken for drowning.

Easily mistaken for drowning perhaps, if you were in the lake and unable to see around the island. From the side, up on the surrounding stone, where the teacher Setu was walking - it didn't look to him like the other lion would be in trouble. He could see quite well and he was too rational minded to react to just spluttering. An adult couldn't drown in the shallows, surely? Even that far in you'd just need to stand up and you'd be above water. Maybe he'd just swallowed the wrong way or accidentally lapped up waterlily debris. That'd be enough to get stuck in anyone's throat, the stems and leaves were so thick and rubbery. But then he was flailing about in a somewhat distressing way....
Setu wandered along to the nearest steps and made his way down to the lowest he could without getting is paws in the water. It was such terribly hot day. Really he'd rather just get to his shadowy cool den now the lessons were over, but he felt he should ask.
"Are you alright out there?" Setu called, somewhat gruffly.

A voice came to his ears, and the now dripping male turned and spotted... another male. Dark cyan eyes blinked a couple of times and then nodded. "Held my breath a bit too long, I think.." came the tight voiced reply. OK, so he got water down the wrong way. He coughed again and made his way further up into the shallows before laying down, keeping his stomach there in the water.
Wet ears flicked drops as he moved them before he just shook his head, not really thinking about if he got the other one wet. Still there was no wind! Ugh! It was so hot, even in the water. "Just... Just trying to stay cool on such a warm day. Ah, I'm Mato. Valenera and Feleji youngest son.. Er, out of the grown kids anyway." Surly this male knew of his younger siblings?
