Basic Information

The tank is essentially a M1A2 refitted for a PzH 155mm cannon It is particularly notable for a very high rate of fire; in burst mode it can fire three rounds in 9 seconds, ten rounds in 56 seconds, and can fire between 10 and 13 rounds per minute continuously, depending on barrel heating. The PzH 2000 has automatic support for Multiple Rounds Simultaneous Impact (MRSI) for up to 5 rounds. The replenishment of shells is automated. Two operators can load 60 shells and propelling charges in less than 12 minutes. It also fitted to allow M982 Excalibur, which are guided munitions.

The primary difference between the M1A2 Abrams and the Panzerhaubitze 2000 is that the M1A2 has better armor, more machine guns, as well as a turret, which allows for a higher degree of aiming (compared to the tank having to turn to face the target). All in all, while it doesn't necessarily introduce anything new, it does introduce an armored howitzer tank, capable of both high powered close range and far range attack maneuvers. A key difference, however, is that the 155mm cannon cannon can move both up and down and side and side, giving a large range of dimensional space for it to move in. The 15.5mm machine gun is also armed with explosive ammunition, that is fully capable of taking out any modern APC in 20-100 rounds at over 2000 meters, expanding the capabilities of the tank beyond that of a basic Anti-Armor destroyer platform, and giving an increased flexibility to many responses.

It's range is 24 km (15mi) with M109 ammunition, 30 km (18.6mi) with ERFB base-bleed, and 25 miles (40 km) with M982 Excalibur ammunition.
