I am trying to figure out what format everyone is putting in their about section that allows them to have an about section and a quilt / links / thumbnails / custom section that they can move as separate pieces. I saw that some are moving the custom section with #about ol{}, however I looked that up and it just said a bunch of stuff about ordered lists and html and I didn't understand. So just trying to make an art thumbnail section that I can move separate from the about section. Update: How to make unlimited custom sections. ( by Ava R. again ) Update 2 (Summary):
First create the custom section in your about section by typing something like:[list=1] <> [/list] Then you will be able to move it with css theme code using:
#about ol{css code goes here}
((Does not work if your about section has a scrollbar, try making a second list and putting your normal about section content in there instead. Then give #about ol ol the scrollbar. This is probably confusing so just read the thread and ask questions.))

When you are doing HTML, the code for ordered (in the example) and unordered (ul instead of ol) lists looks like this:In BBC code, you get the lists by using this: [list] [*]Item [*]Item [/list]
The above is an unordered list. To get an ordered list with BBC code, I believe you have to do this: [list=a] [*] Item [*] Item [/list]
Numbers can also be used instead of letters ( ). If you make a list in your about section, then view the source code, you can see where it has taken the BBC code and translated it into the HTML code.
Once you have the list in your about section, you can move it where you'd like using css:#about ol {CODE} Does that help?

That was exactly what I wanted for now, thanks! =D
I feel bad that I didn't think of bbcode list as being able to do what I needed >.<

Great. biggrin
Don't feel bad about that. I never made the connection myself until they started doing the customizable profiles. I kept losing the indent on my own lists and discovered it when I was looking for a way to get it back.
Edit: I love your profile layout, by the way. It's got such a clean look to it.

cuboid Would you mind explaining how to use that code? @_@; In your about section, make a list. The first example is an ordered list (which you'd be better off using) and an unordered list (which makes things more complicated since the about links are also an unordered list).[list=1] [*] [*] [/list]
[list] [*] [*] [/list] Also, note that you do not have to use when making this list. Just putting the content that you want to be in your new section betwen [ list ] and [ /list ] (minus the spaces) will work as well.
Then, in your CSS coding, you adjust the properties of your list with this code (ordered list code first, unordered list code second):#about ol {CODE}
#about ul {CODE} I hope that was clear enough.

Can you move the sections out of the About section or not?

Yes. Position: relative; or position: absolute; lets you move them anywhere you want them, even outside the about section.

I've seem to have gotten it out of my About section. But now I have no idea where abouts it is. Also, is there a code to put it to the left of the profile beside the other sections?

Hm...well, when I look at your coding, it looks like you haven't put the list into your about section. You have the CSS code to work with the list, but there's no list in your about section. When you're on the Edit Profile menu, click on About and put your list in there.
To move it just use left and top:
#about ol {position: absolute; top: 0px; left: 0px; }
Since you want to move it to the left, you'll use negative numbers on "left."

I'm trying to do this myself.
What I hope to do is make a quilt section in my profile, where the details section would be. I tried following the directions you guys gave several times, but I think it's above my head. Im not doing something right.
Would it be to much trouble for someone to give me the base code that would let me replace whats inside my details section, so that I can put my quilt there?
That way I could play with it myself untill I figured out what I wad doing. That or any explantion would be much appretiated. I'll continue to try doing what you have said, but so far am hainvg no luck.
Thanks in advance. heart

your quilt is in your about input section and is separate from the css code 1. in the about input [it is between the mail and details links on your profile options page] convert your quilt into an ordered list, this result should look almost the exact same as what it currently is, except with a couple minor format additions example (i might make error but i think this correct): .::Quilt::.

[list=1] [*].::Quilt::. [*][url=http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http://snipurl.com/junc] [img]http://tinyurl.com/d8ry8[/img][/url] [url=http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http://tinyurl.com/d9lnn] [img]http://snipurl.com/jwwb[/img][/url] [*][url=http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http://tinyurl.com/d9lnn] [img]http://snipurl.com/jwwb[/img][/url] [url=http://www.gaiaonline.com/gaia/redirect.php?r=http://snipurl.com/junc] [img]http://tinyurl.com/d8ry8[/img][/url] [/list] **there are many different format ways you can do this but this is one** ***note: this will cause numbers to appear on each line, one way to make these disappear is change the .::Quilt::. to an image banner and then set font size 0*** 2. next step would be move quilt wherever you want (using css theme code section), example: #about ol{ top: 400px; left: 600px; position: absolute }
