Since HG and SS have been out for a while now, I find myself wondering if you guys have been enjoying them or not?

Personally, I've been progressing at a very sluggish pace, partly because I haven't had a lot of time to play, and partly because I just haven't been as interested in HG and SS as I was in D/P/Pt. In fact, last Sunday I picked up Platinum again and started working on my Pokedex again instead of playing HG or SS.

I don't know exactly what, but I feel like something is missing. It may be that it's just that some of my favorite pokemon from D/P/Pt aren't in the game (at least not at the point I'm at). It could also be that I feel like I'm retreading old territory. Picking up FireRed and LeafGreen was slightly different because I knew where most everything was, so I got through the games quickly and it was nice to go "back to basics" so to speak. But Gold and Silver were never particularly favorites of mine, (though I did complete Gold way back in the day...not the pokedex, but the storyline), so even though I can get through the game pretty quickly, I don't feel especially fond of trying.

Also, I got bogged down early on with the Pokewalker. I was so intent on getting all the possible Pokewalker pokemon in my Gold game that I waited a couple of weeks to really get started in my game. It meant I had a lot more options going into that first gym, but it also meant a HUGE lag inbetween. I also restarted the game a few times to get all the starter pokemon between my HG and SS games. By the time I got everything squared away with HG, I found I was too lazy/impatient to do the same thing with SS, so I've only really cleared a couple of the Pokewalker Routes (as far as getting all the pokemon...I've opened all the ones available to me so far). And by that time, my HG game was so far ahead, that I felt like I was constantly retreading the game trying to keep them pretty much even in terms of where I was.

I'm wondering, too, if maybe I should just abandon SS for the moment and focus on HG and see if that helps me move forward more easily. I *REALLY* want to get to the National Pokedex in at least one of the games because I'm concerned that there might be a new download available in the coming year leading up to the next gen, and almost all the later downloads in D/P/Pt required you have to have the National Pokedex. I would kick myself if I missed out on a chance with Celebi or Deoxys (really, the only two I still need) because I was too far behind in the game.

So anyway, the discussion question here is: are you still playing/enjoying HG and SS? If so, what are your favorite parts? If not, is there anything in particular that bugs you about them, or made you stop playing?

I'm keep getting killed in the Ice Path cave and I haven't touched the game in months. Though I keep using my Pokewalker hoping that will make a difference. (Assuming I ever get out of the cave) The vidoes on YT aren't helping at all as I get more trapped and I keep running into the same trainers that keep knocking out my Pokemon each time. My Mom has too much of my money and no matter how hard I try my Pokemon are just too weak. So yeah I haven't touched that game since May. Very sad.

I dunno I'm kind of waiting for Black and White I guess.

i cant quit playing it, why: my jirachi following me is just too much awesome to not play it

now often i'll play another game or not play at all but i cant go back to platinum or D/P, unles i'm aiming for a Palkia/Dialga/Giratina w/ their respective orbs, and even then, i can always restart my H-gold and use my TRU arceus to gain them all one-per-restart at lv1

but overall HG/SS are my faves so far...

but reshiram and zekrom being drag/fire and drag/elec respectively make me think Isshu may be my new region, and heck the starter is a fire pig so i maylike it after all

"Bacon" and i will bake the trainers in isshu region
(yep already have a nic-name for my fire starter 5th-gen and Zekrom is Joey and Reshiram is Seto, since they look like Joey from YGO's red-eyes and Kaiba's Shining Blue-eyes)

Bacon(fire starter), Mr.Bubbles/Mrs.Bubbles(water starter) Yoshi(grass starter) and Joey and Seto, yeah nic-named all the revealed gen5s so far...

That's awesome, Heck! I haven't seen the starters yet, so I'll have to Google them.

And Miss, I haven't gotten to the Ice Path yet, but maybe I can help with the strategy guide? For example, did you make sure to push all the rocks into the holes on B1F? You won't be able to slide your way out of the cave without those. What floor are you on?

If you have an escape rope or repel, I'd recommend using them, obviously, and coming back with some higher level pokemon, specifically a fire type for the Jynx and Swinub, and a psychic type for the Zubat and Golbat.

For my own part, I got the Dowsing Machine last weekend and I went crazy with it! I like that you can walk around while using it...which you couldn't do in the other games. I pretty much walked all the way back to the beginning of the game to find everything I could!!
