Beaches were stupid!

That's what Vance thought to himself when he first arrived. The sand stuck to his feet and skin, which was susceptible anyway because of how slippery it tended to be. His usual footy pajamas were replaced with a pair of swim trunks. All that normally protected the boy from such things was gone for the day.

"Daddy, I wanna go swim." He whined at his father, pushing at the man's leg and pointing at the water. It was like a big bath!
Donovan was busy setting up a spot for them when a gaggle of woman his age approached. "Aaaw~ You brought your son? How adorable~." One girl coo'd, looking at Vance then back at the young man.
Donovan was easily swayed by pretty woman, and even more so when they wore such delightful bikinis. He sat down on the blanket and smirked at the girls. "Care to join me?"

A while had gone by. The adults were busy talking about stuff Vance didn't understand. He grudgingly had made sandcastles with water one girl had brought.
This sucked. He wanted to swim. But he wasn't allowed if Donovan wasn't watching.

That was it! Vance was making a stand! The toddler got up and wandered away from sight, without his father noticing. It was swim time. But there were so many people. It was too crowded in the water, it made the boy nervous.

The young lad wandered a long way down the beach, till he found an area that seemed to be deserted....

There was a reason that the beach down a distance was deserted, in fact there were even warning signs up that were hand crafted by Leviathan that said that trespassers would be eaten. Luckily for him it would appear that the warning signs had worked out well for him, not to mention the bit of press he got here and there when he did something particularly interesting. He was grinning up a storm from where he was at the moment, floating on his back in 'his' ocean, the part of the water that was his territory. He'd been slowly expanding that which was his of late, deciding that now that he was almost twice the size he was before he needed more space so that he had more food at hand.

He turned slowly to look toward the one who was approaching the edges of his territory as though he sensed him coming and he rolled over before sinking mostly under the water. A kid? He looked from side to side seeing no parent that it seemed to belong to and he seemed to relax a bit as he started to swim toward the edge of the water. Kids he didn't mind so much but parents on the other hand... they were loud, they thought they knew everything, tried to take what was his, left litter behind. They were unwelcome in his territory and he would be quite unmerciful about how he chased them out... kids though, they were something he could deal with since he could always threaten to eat them if they didn't behave.k

Vance liked this area. It was quiet and peaceful. On the other hand, Vance found the sun to be way too hot now. He whined a bit and rubbed at his now sandy skin. That was it! He was going to swim wasn't he? The toddler bounded over to the shore, slowing down as he got closer.
What did ocean water feel like? He'd never been here before. He licked his lips as he crept closer, examining the wet sand. It was mud now! Cooool. It felt nice under his feet.

Then, something shimmering caught his eye. What was it. Vance crept forward, trying to figure out what was shimmering beneath the surface. "Spar-kle Spar-kle~ Shiny shiny waaa-ter~." Vance sang to himself, making up his own song about what he saw. "Splish splash~." He sang as he bent down and splashed at the water in front of him.

He was rather small wasn't he? Children this small always seemed to have an adult present, didn't they? Well he supposed that the blond girl hadn't so there were some small children that got around on their own. He continued to move closer even as the boy with the red eyes wandered closer to the water. Idly he found himself comparing this kid to the one that had fallen into his water and nearly drown, it had him wondering if this one knew how to swim or if he would end up being swept out to sea if there were a bit wave that came in.

Should he look after him? Normally he didn't care one whit about anyone that was either himself, his General, or a potential princess that needed kidnapped... it would seem that run in with the drowning brat was messing with him in ways he hadn't expected. Fine, fine... he would look after the kid even though he was a he and normally Levi wanted little to do with other guys.

Once he was among the shallow water he pushed himself up and peeked out of it, "Having fun, kid?" He asked, hearing his song about the water and the way he was splashing in it.

Vance squeaked and slipped a bit, landing on his bottom and staring at the thing that he had been 'investigating' earlier. The shiny thing was a person...thing. Vance smiled and crawled onto all fours to get a little closer, dipping into the water. "Yeah!" He replied with exuberance. "I was splashing! And making a song!" Vance seemed proud of himself as he boasted about his activities from the previous minute.
The boy was in water, and away from the hot sand that stuck stubbornly to his skin. The water was nice and cool! It felt really good, and was way different than a bath or the pool.

Vance maneuvered himself to sit again, waist deep in the water. "Having fun, kid?" He mimicked with a giggle, wiggling his feet and making ripples in the water. To think he had come here to escape stupid boring adults and big scary crowds hogging the water. Now he was talking to a very interesting person who looked like a lizard.
...Was that a tail?

Leviathan couldn't help but to grin, seeming to be rather impressed by the fact that this kid didn't really seem all to afraid of him. It was a new and welcome thing since he was able to make most everyone aside from a small number run from him or better yet make them cry, "I see, well given that you don't seem so bad I will allow you full run in my territory." He said, making a motion toward the two large signs that he put up warning people to stay out, "Between there and there is all mine but you can roam around as you like due to my special permission."

It applied only to the red eyed kid so he rather hoped that nobody else decided to invade any time soon he thought to himself as he pulled his coils into, letting it them bunch and stack up on each other so that he could lounge on them.

This beach belonged to this guy? He must be a very important person to own a whole beach! Vance looked between the two posts, over-exaggerating his movements as he leaned one way and the other. Not only that, this important person was allowing him to play here all he wanted?
Vance's eyes lit up and he stared adoringly at the serpant-person. "Really?! Thank you!" He squeaked with happiness, raising his hands in the air.

He watched in amazement as the serpant boy oiled himself a place to lounge. That must be handy! "Are you a king?" Vance asked suddenly. It looked like he was on a throne the way he sat, and he did own land. That meant you were a king right? Clearly.
"What's your name?" Vance hadn't even thought to ask previously, but the thought popped into his mind wen he thought about if he should address the serpent by his name or with a 'your majesty' like he'd seen in stories.

That the kid seemed to understand what a glorious thing that he was being allowed to do seemed to make Leviathan like him that much more. To be thanked in such a manner had his wing like fin fluttering behind him in a pleased fashion, "Your welcome." He said, grinning ear to ear by now.

If Leviathan was happy before he was only made to be more so when the kid asked him about his rank, "I am the Lord of the Ocean actually." He said, sounding as though he were quite serious about it. He was just that after all and he was working his hardest to make sure he was more then worthy of that title, "My name is Leviathan, what about you? You have a name?"

"Lord of the whole ocean??" He asked in awe, leaning in and gazing at the serpent-man. Wow, this guy was amazing! To be able to meet someone so important was thrilling! He would have to tell Mr. Bear and Donovan all about it later.

"Le-vee-eeh-thhun.." He said, sounding it out with a crinkle of his brow, trying to remember this long name. "Lleevvii..ah.." Hm, there had to be an easier way to remember it. "Levi. Kiiing Levi. LOOORD of the OCEAN!" He said with as booming a voice as a toddler could muster, raising his arms to emphasize his words. There, much easier.
Vance nodded vigorously. "I have a name!" He said with a big smile, as if it were a big deal. "My name is Vance! My daddy gave it to me!" He said as he pointed to himself, wiggling his legs a bit.
"What do lords of oceans do?" He asked curiously.

Leviathan couldn't help it, he was rather liking this kid more and more as he spoke, the way that he called out in a booming voice, and otherwise making things seem much more dramatic. Levi rather liked Vance's way of announcing himself, "Vance is it?" He seemed to think on it for a moment before nodding, "That's a cool name." Said as though it was very important that he liked the other boy's name.

"What do we do? All sorts of fun things. I keep my territory safe and free of invaders, I hunt for tasty things in the ocean for dinner, from time to time I kidnap princesses like a proper dragon does, and from time to time battles with those who come to save the princesses." He said, explaining what he did with his time, ginning all the while since the things he did were things that he rather enjoyed and thought that everyone else should enjoy as well.

"And what about you? What do Vances do?"

Vance waited in anticipation as Levi seemed to ponder Vance's name. He almost became nervous until Levi decreed it to be a cool name. Vance lit up, beaming at this news. He grinned happily, his hands balling into excited fists.
The King of the Ocean liked his name!!!

Vance listened intently to all the things a King did. That all sounded so fun! "Wooooow!" He exclaimed in awe and wonder. "There's food in the ocean? Like fish? You've met Princesses? I met a princess in a dream once! I've never been in a battle though." Vance babbled at the Ocean King happily.

Vance sat up straight when he was asked what a Vance does, looking proud of himself. "I play outside, and I eat bugs, and I play with trucks and Mr. Bear, and I talk to people I see places, and I climb walls and trees, and I love baths!" He chatted at the Ocean King, swaying side to side as he explained his usual days.

The enthusiasm of the smaller boy was kind of amusing, the way that he showed his excitement in such an open manner. It was funny, "All sorts of good food, various fish, shellfish, some birds, a few sorts of mammals, they all taste pretty good." He said with a smile then chuckled, "A couple of princesses, a few fake ones, and a few girls that were far from being princesses. The best one so far had to be the deer princess and the water princess." The end of his tail wagged a bit thinking of those two and the fun they had been though for very different reasons.

He listened to what the boy said that he did, something far different then what he did himself. He chuckled a bit, well the boy was a lot younger then he wasn't he? He nodded, "Sounds like an interesting day and do the bugs taste good?" He asked curiously, now he'd never eaten those before and rarely seen them on the beach due to the heat.

Vance wondered what all those different things tasted like. Maybe his dad would let him have something like those for dinner. He wanted to know!

"Wooow. There's lots of princesses..." Vance hadn't been aware there were so many types of princesses. The one in his dream (or at least she looked like a princess) loved eating candy, and wore a pretty dress. Until then that's all he viewed princesses to look and act.
He was also enlightened to know there were deer princesses. Maybe Tynne knows her? Probably. Tynne was so amazing, she must know the Deer Princess.

Vance shrugged at his question. "They're okay. They feel funny going down." He said with a giggle, splashing his feet in the water a bit. "I like eating daddy's food better. Except peanut butter. I don't like peanut butter. It gets stuck in my mouth."
PostPosted: Sat Jul 24, 2010 11:30 am

"Not nearly as many princesses as their should be." He said, thinking about all of the ones that he'd met in his time. There were far to many of those and not nearly enough of the real, princess-like kind. The end of his tail lashed at the thought before he shoved the thoughts aside.

The sea dragon turned his attention back to the red eyed boy in front of him, finding that Vance was thoroughly amusing for a little kid. Normally he couldn't stand them and wanted nothing more then to see their parents carting them off before he was forced to throw them into deep water... deep water outside of his territory mind you, he didn't want that sort of mess within the boundaries of what was considered his.

"So your saying bugs and peanut butter are things I should avoid then, food wise?" He said, giving a nod of his head. While he doubted he would have considered eating either of them it was still good information, "I wonder if perhaps I should draft you into my army, you would be an useful informant it would seem."

Not enough princesses? Was there a shortage? Gee whiz! Maybe they should find out why! Maybe that's why he didn't meet very many. There were going extinct! "We should put up flyers.." Vance thought out loud. That's how they found missing people, right? He would have to make some when he got home! Oh boy, he would be able to use his new crayons! Yay~!

"Yeah. I like bugs though. It's a A...KWAH..ER...ed taste.." That's what Donovan said it must be. What a weird word.. "But yeah. Peanut Butter is icky."

Vance's ees lit up, and his mouth gaped into a big 'o' shape. He then smiled ear to ear, gazing at Levi with big adoring eyes. "Really~!?" He asked in excitement. He got to his feet and bounced. "I could be in your army??" What an honor! Vance was all a glitter with excitement. Oh boy! He wondered what an informant was... must be COOL.
