Name: Lancelot Gottespfeil
Aliases/ Nicknames: Bookworm
Age: Twenty-Four
Rank:
Height: 6' 1"
Weight:195 lbs
Personality: While Lancelot typically appears as cold and calculating, there's always a little warm side to him. As a Quincy, he tends to go on about pride and honor, following both the Quincy Code as best he can, as well as maintaining some long dead code of chivalry. He tends to keep his distance, and maintain a relation at merely the level of business. He tends to lean towards shoving his nose in a book of just about anything, and as a result, his form of combat seems to rely heavily on just learning the enemy patterns before making a big move.
Theme Song(s): "I am"simply a "Dream". (Both songs are performed and written by Dope) Savior by Rise Against.
Physical Description: Relatively slim in appearance, though muscle is there, it's not terribly apparent. Considering his profession as a historian, one will often find Lancelot pallid, due to excessive time indoors. In regards to dress, it is a rare sight to see the Quincy in traditional quincy garbs, rather one will see him in a pair of slacks and a button down shirt.

Quincy Cross: Quincy Cross - Over the years, the Gottespfeil clan has maintained one thing throughout their line. Each Cross holds one familiar ingredient in its creation. Gold from the holy land of Jerusalem. Still being maintained from early in the 12th century, the clan has deemed a simple tradition to go along with it. The mother of the quincy should design the cross, and this was the result of his mother's hard work as an artist.
Quincy Bow:Quincy Bow - The bow of Lancelot appears more of a shade of purple, rather than the blue, though twists of it appear within it. It's design is overall, surprisingly simple.
Accessories: Seele Schneider (Soul Cutter): A Quincy sword that vibrates at high speeds, similar to a chainsaw, that allows the wielder to more easily steal reiryoku. They can also be fired like an arrow. Lancelot has dabbled in close combat dual wielding, but typically only in a defensive manner.

Skills:
Reiryoku Absorption: Unlike Shinigami, who use their inner Reiryoku to fight, the Quincy fuel their abilities by absorbing the Reiryoku of their surroundings in the form of spirit particles. They primarily absorb them from the atmosphere, and have an easier time collecting this energy in environments with higher concentrations of spiritual particles, such as Soul Society or Hueco Mundo. To a sufficiently powerful Quincy, there is no difference between spiritual particles and spiritual energy as a source of power.

Reiryoku Manipulation: One can manipulate spiritual energy for offensive purposes. They most commonly reshapes spiritual particles into various types of bow and arrows, but can also concentrate spiritual energy into the form of swords or explosives.

Negation of Attacks: Lancelot's tactics usually deem that he play and observe for a short while, until he can learn the patterns of his opponent, and as such, his observational skills allows him to pinpoint a technique's point of negation in due time.

Quincy Bow and Arrows: The basic Quincy ability to manifest a bow and arrow.

Hirenkyaku (Flying Screen Step): The Quincy equivalent to the Shinigami Shunpo and Arrancar Sonido. Lancelot tends to excel in the use of hirenkyaku.

Ginto: Small liquid-filled capsules that store spiritual energy, and are used by Quincy for spellcasting in the same way that Shinigami use kidō. Like kidō, they are activated by calling out various commands.

Ginto Techniques:

Heizen (Sacred Bite) --This technique creates a transparent, rectangular beam of energy from silver tubes which slices through the opponent. It is activated by the command:
"Feel the wrath of battle and accept this sacred chalice - Sacred Bite!"

Gritz (Quintuple Restraining Frames) --This technique forms a man-sized pentagonal Quincy cross which envelops its target. It is activated by the command:
"A silver rod strikes the five-fingered stone bed - Quintuple Restraining Frames!"

Wolke (Emerald Grail) --This technique uses a silver tube to create a large blast. While it may not be intended for use as such, Uryū uses it to cushion the impact of a fall. It is activated by the command:
"Tilt the goblet to the west - Emerald Grail!"

Sprenger (Rippling Grass Formation)--This technique uses five Seele Schneiders to create a pentagon-shaped seal, which when activated causes a massive explosion within its borders. When an object or a person stands within the middle of the Pentagon can the placement of the fifth Seele Schneider trap them by wrapping and binding their legs to the ground with dense spirit particles. The Seele Schneiders function as accumulators, gathering the necessary amount of spirit particles to create the explosion. The liquid inside a silver tube acts as the trigger. The preparations for the technique combined with the charging time for the Seele Schneiders make its use in battle impractical unless the user has a partner that can stall to buy time.

Bio: The real history of the Gottespfeil Clan goes back a long ways, all the way back to the days of King Richard and his Crusade for the holy city, even further back of course. They had originated as Saxons, under the order of the holy Roman Emperor, Charlamagne as the purgers of evil spirits. Their clan had been noted for their participation in what was known as the Knights of Malta, a group of knights who also had become well known in the infirmaries after the first Crusade for Jerusalem, and even the Knights Templar. The Gottespfeil clan though, were more in the shadows than the others, when the purging of the Templars began.

Moving onto the 20th century, where Lancelot was born, through the marriage of Linda Callaway from England and his father, Arcius Gottespfeil. Arcius was one to maintain the old ways, and as such, he had always been one to make sure Lancelot knew what was right and what was wrong growing up. The arts, or the appreciation thereof, culture, knowledge, and combat.

It had become a tradition to have their history be unveiled wholly before the young at the very beginning. Once they could understand well enough that they were not alone in this world, was once they could have the chance to learn the arts of the Quincy.

The young man had been rather serene in taking all the information in, and quickly took to it as any other would. The gathering of spirit particles proved to be essential for his life as a Quincy, who would live out the honor that was his own blood. As time moved on, Lancelot proceeded along quickly in the works of the mind. School had not lasted as long as he would have cared for, graduating from a college at the age of seventeen, all the while comparing his own history as a Quincy to that of the Knights Templar, who believed in something that his clan had known to be completely false.

Upon his seventeenth birthday, the quincy had fallen for something that was more than odd. His heart seemed to have been stolen away by a spirit, known as Lauraina, bound to this world, which was truly regretful for him. He, who had learned that love was not bound by the mortal coil, knew she was simply a ticking time bomb before she'd be destroyed.Day after day passed, and she stayed put again and again. It was so reassuring, assuring enough to believe that not all bound spirits would be consumed by themselves.

Four months, eleven days and thirty-six minutes after meeting this spirit, the bomb exploded. She howled in agony, and it was simply gruesome. Yet he stayed with her. Three days, rain fell, as if the heavens and perhaps, maybe even the Lord, whom the Knights Templar believed so righteous, was there and compassionate enough to leave her be. Let her live, or go on to heaven, or something. All he did was stay there, praying over the Quincy Cross that had been forged of gold from the holy city of Jerusalem, praying over and over. Yet they went unheard.

Finally, her howling ceased, as the mask began to cover her face. Attempting to hold her one last time, he moved back on final step, drawing back the bow, which seemed to struggle to draw together, as he uttered one final prayer and loosed his arrow. Th howl of the hollow peaked, and finally ended with the Quincy walking away a broken soul, leaving his only purpose in life to discover the true origins of the Quincy.

Over the last several years, Lancelot had been spending his time within the bounds of the Vatican with the Catholic religious leaders, all in effort to search their archives. Spending the days in fractions, hunting hollows with another Quincy, searching the archives for more possible Quincy that served the church and his normal life. All so busy, but in the last year, he has made his way back to Karakura Town with some 'heirlooms' that had been sealed within the church, although he has yet to break the seals upon them.
