This is anywhere off school property. It covers the whole world and should only be used if given permission. Any student caught off grounds without a note will be expelled.

*Note scrawled on the pillar at the edge of the property: Elias December may be bribed for notes with enough recess cups. Stock accordingly

“That it,” Jack said with a scowl when Kaito confirmed he looked as stupid as he felt. “I’m not wearing this.” But he was and no words were going to quick change him into something less… serious. He tugged at the sleeve of the suit with one hand, fidgeting with the entire outfit as though barely restraining the urge to tear it off. His lips pressed together in a hard line as he shot an accusing look at Kaito, clearly blaming him. Jack would have shown up to the interview in jeans if he’d had his way. “You’re lucky you’re cute,” he grumbled, shoving his hands in his pockets as they made their way down the hallway and out of the school. One hand closed around the silver lighter. He wasn’t stupid enough to flick it open and shut while it was still in his pocket, but the familiar way his fingers closed around the solid shape was a kind of comfort.

The taxi was outside by the time they made it out, rumbling gently against the curb. Jack made a beeline for it, but moved at a casual pace. His phone vibrated in his pocket and there was a text message explaining that the school had already been informed of their absence and excusing them from class for the next few days in case there was a delay in their return. Home and class work would be provided if they missed more than three days. At the bottom of the email was the confirmation number for two first class tickets on the next plane out of the local airport. Jack read over the message and passed it to Kaito. The tone was flat, completely unlike the simpering I’m-everyone’s-friend senator that Jack assumed it had been sent by an assistant or secretary of some kind.

“Yay. School work,” Jack muttered. He wasn’t an idiot. Despite how he acted Jack’s grades hovered around a B average. A's were possible, but in general he didn’t give a damn. They were only that good because teachers took a look at him and decided to get on his case until he turned work in. It was a simple matter of getting them to leave him alone.

He slid into the back of the taxi, glancing once at the man in the front seat who faced forward with a professionally blank smile, nodding at them once. The redhead scooted across the seat and waited for Kaito to join them before the car sped off.

"Yes you are."Kaito drawled clearly not believing Jack's statement as he tugged at the sleeves of his shirt. Obviously annoyed with what he was being forced to wear. A faint touch of amusement danced in the back of the watching slate blue orbs as he was shot an accusatory look by his room mate who grumbled before shoving his hands in his pockets.

"I'm eternally grateful for such luck."The blue haired male informed him in a flat tone that still managed to hold a touch of sarcasm. His own stance remaining calm and assured in the form fitting suit. He wasn't nearly as broad as the taller male, so the emphasis in his suits always seemed to hold a touch of something softer. It was usually completely destroyed by his personality when he was wearing them. As Jack was about to find out, Kaito was not a nice person when dealing with THAT world. School and such was simple emptiness, this was something harsher.

The taxi patiently waited for them at the curb, but slate orbs were drawn from its yellow lines towards the phone being held out for him. He accepted it and read the message casually. Knowing far more what to do with it than Jack likely would. Senator Hormel obviously assumed that his little 'charity case' knew how to operate the digital side of the transportation world. He passed the phone back with a casual shrug of one shoulder that managed to express his disinterest even more than his empty expression. As an A+ student with no real need to work at it, Kaito had never found school work challenging enough to care about it.

The artist stepped into the taxi with practiced ease, closing the door behind him with a flat look at the rear-view mirror and the man who was smiling at them in a manner that suggested he knew some level of professionalism. Good, Kaito would hate to have to make his life harder. The car started off as soon as the door had clicked closed and Kaito sat stiffly in the seat, head turned to watch the world pass them by on their way to the airport. It would be about a twenty minute drive and then they had to navigate the process of getting onto the plane, most likely private at this time of day, and then about an hour to get where the station was going.

Jack slouched in his seat, letting his head fall back against the seat’s headrest. His eyes strayed around the taxi restlessly. His fingers twitched, itching to lean over the front seat and turn on the radio before the man up front could object. Something loud and fast and lyrically incoherent would have fit his mood perfectly. And if he managed to make a few passing cars deaf in the process, more points for him. But he’d promised to behave. More importantly, he’d promised Kaito. Damnit.

Kaito himself was looking as elegant and proper as he ever did, back straight and manner impeccable. Jack didn’t think the boy would have looked any different if they’d been in the back of a limo speaking to the president or the prime minister. Or the Pope for that matter. Kaito seemed to have a way of projecting the idea that he was in charge without moving a muscle. If you had a question, your eyes would automatically slide to him, expecting him to know it. This both annoyed and intrigued Jack who had enough trouble just pulling off a professional suit. In a casual setting, Jack could look completely at ease and confident. Surrounded by people who’s first response to something they didn’t care for (or sometime something they did) was a punch or a threat or an overt insult, he was perfectly at home, giving exactly what he got. He knew how to work a street, knew how to get out just before things got too hot, knew when to lay low and when to swagger it up.

But that was when he was in his own element. And he felt himself being dragged father and father away from it.

Jack distracted himself for a little while by watching Kaito. His lips curled at the corners, a smirk playing just out of sight along his mouth. With Kaito looking so cool and calm like that, it was more tempting than ever to find a way to ruffle that smooth exterior, put a bit of anger or light in the eyes and a blush along the cheeks. His eyes traced the handsome face and trailed down to the collar of the shirt Kaito wore. He couldn’t help wondering if his mark was still there, hidden just beneath the crisp white shirt he was wearing. Wouldn’t that be a lovely counterpoint to the otherwise composed exterior? Jack very much wanted to sneak a peek.

Through the grace of god he managed to keep his hands to himself until they reached the airport and Jack threw himself out of the vehicle almost before it stopped moving. He rolled his shoulders back, adjusted the suit jacked, and saluted the driver. He couldn’t resist picking up his pace enough to get to the other side and pull the door open for Kaito before he could reach the handle himself. “Are we having fun yet?” he murmured, the half grin playing on his face.

Kaito was fairly impressed that Jack remained silent through the ride. Slouched in the seat across from him he didn't do much other than watch the artist, something Kaito could see from the corner of his eye. He refused to react to it because the taxi driver occasionally glanced up in his rear-view mirror and the blue haired male had no idea how connected he might be. So he continued to appear detached and staring out the window.

In the silence of his mind he wondered what Jack was thinking. Occasionally his facial expression would change, going from bored, to thoughtful, to bored again, and now it had shifted towards a smirk. Kaito held still and tried to stop his mind from wandering down bad paths as to what the red-head had thought of to bring that expression up. As such he was rather grateful when they arrived at the airport and he could exit the confining backseat with an arch of his eyebrow as Jack held it open for him.

"The fun hasn't even started."Kaito drawled flashing just the smallest traces of a smile at the edges of his lips as they left the taxi and let it drive off where it would. The blue haired male took the lead, familiar with the procedures at various airports. He always did hate security. Suddenly the artist stopped, head tilted to one side as he realized something, turning slightly back towards Jack he held out his hand.

"Lighter."he instructed. Security would strip it off him faster than he could blink and Jack would likely cause a serious scene at that point. Kaito, however, was fairly confident he could talk his way through with it. His attitude and connections managing to pull off what the average person couldn't. He wasn't going to let the red-head loose it, because it seemed quite important to him and at the same time getting arrested was going to cause a serious problem with pulling off his plan.

“That’s what I like to hear,” the redhead purred, meeting Kaito’s more restrained smile with a smirk of his own. He shoved his hands as they walked up into the airport, content to let Kaito lead the way, resuming the customary habit of trailing a couple of feet behind and to the side where he could follow without having his vision obstructed. Without thinking he shifted to the ‘******** off’ stance, shooting a look at anyone who looked like they might have something to say about two unaccompanied teenage boys parading through the airport without so much as a suitcase between them. Most people decided they were suddenly very interested in their own affairs, looking away.

He nearly bumped into Kaito when the other boy stopped, biting back the second half of a curse. A little girl passed by, sucking her thump and clutching her mother’s hand. Jack blinked and was glad he hadn’t actually let loose. She looked like the kind of girl his mother would dote on and feed cookies to until she burst. His eyes went back to Kaito, raising an eyebrow in question.

When his roommate demanded the lighter, Jack stiffened, looking like he’d been slapped. His eyes widened and he opened his mouth to angrily protest. But he couldn’t come up with a decent argument. He knew the rules about general air travel. He’d only gotten to hang onto it on the way out because the airport they’d left from had been privately owned. His hand curled around it protectively, but he slowly pulled it out, expression sour. He squeezed it once and handed it over to Kaito.

“No one touches it but you,” he said firmly. It wasn’t like it was real silver. It wasn’t expensive or hand crafted. He never worried about someone trying to steal it from him, but if it was just passed around and thrown in a luggage bin it would feel… contaminated somehow. It had been a gift and Jack was damned if he was going to let it be treated like an ordinary object.

Like the male at his back he'd shifted subtly towards his more emotionless coldness, a warning to not come near him that was well listened to with Jack behind him doing a much more blatant version of the same thing.

When he'd asked for the lighter he'd known Jack wasn't going to like it. Something soft, a bit like sympathy, might have passed through his slate blue orbs but it would be hard to detect unless you knew to look for it. The red-head seemed to hold a mental debate with himself over it before he relinquished it with one last squeeze and a firm warning.

"Agreed."Kaito nodded, those odd emotions he couldn't quite defining insuring that he'd likely go through hell to make sure that Jack's wish was observed. Then again, he had his ID on him and his last name was generally enough to insure that he was left well enough alone. At that point he'd have called in a private jet and come up with an excuse to his father to make sure that no one but him touched the silver object that was respectfully slipped into his own pocket.

That small issue handled Kaito pulled out his wallet and walked up to the row of desks that was check-in. Technically there was a long line that everyone was supposed to wait in until the next available clerk called them. With an arrogance and style bred into the rich he simply walked past the line and up to one of the windows as the woman opened her mouth. She shot him as surprised look, but before she could say anything else Kaito spoke.

"Vari and Sorazorashii."his tone could have frozen fire, his eyes a bored emptiness that stared at her as if daring her to object while his body language had made the shift towards a sort of impatience that demanded immediate attention. Despite the grumbles raising up behind him in the line Kaito was quickly handed the two tickets and asked rather hesitantly if they would be declaring anything. He shot her a flat look and walked away without an answer, hoping Jack would follow him.

He passed back the second ticket with Jack's name on it and held his own loosely by his side as they walked towards the desk that contained security. Kaito lifted the ticket and his ID that had joined it at the desk at an angle so the gold sticker glittering on the top was obvious. Now came the interesting part of getting through with the lighter. He'd have to avoid the metal detector all together.

Jack relaxed about a fraction of an inch when Kaito agreed to the terms in the lending of the lighter. For a moment Jack hesitated, wanting to try to explain why the lighter was important. But in the end, he decided against it. It wasn’t important anyway. Kaito knew it was important to Jack. Knowing why wouldn’t change anything about that and it certainly wouldn’t help him take care of it.

The calming effect the presence of the lighter had on Jack was immediately apparent. Rather than projecting an air of ‘keep away’, Jack now seemed to be actively looking for someone to step over the line so he could start a fight. An excuse, any excuse, would have worked. It was fortunate that Kaito was preceeding them, the cold front warning away anyone who might have gotten caught in the heated backlash of Jack’s irrational unease and rush of adrenaline. He tried to keep his eyes from focusing on the pocket that now held the lighter by looking at everything else. He could have passed as a bodyguard thug scanning the area for trouble in Kaito’s name. Even if he wasn’t much taller than the blue haired boy, he managed to loom over everything he passed, eyes dark and angry.

As he waited for Kaito to work his magic in getting their tickets, he shot a look over his shoulder at the grumbles rising from the line. Most of them vanished in an instant. Damn. If someone had tried to make a fuss he might have had an excuse to… but then he’d probably delay their flight and would have broken his promise to Kaito. The redhead fought down a growl.

When they reached the security counter, Jack dug out his wallet in a few sharp motions, presenting the ID the way one would present a loaded gun. His lips was curled into the start of a snarl as he was waved through, a few of the security agents taking special note to check him with the little metal detecting wand. Behind him he could hear someone talking to Kaito. It sounded like they were attempting to argue as politely as possible. Oddly, that made him feel better, knowing it would mean Kaito would have a chance to put them down with one of his icy rebukes. Someone around there needed to suffer for the loss of Jack’s lighter.

He sat on the edge of the counter, ignoring the men protesting, and started to pull his shoes back on, waiting for Kaito.

Kaito could easily feel Jack looming, his aura clashing like heat against the icy cold of the artists own presence. The combined effect was making sure that no one got near them. Looking very much so like a young executive and his bodyguard. Because he knew it would likely take time he was glad Jack had pulled out his ID and was waved through. The guard on his side gave him the classic statement about putting anything metal on the belt, stepping out of his shoes, and walking under the arch. Kaito lifted one eyebrow slightly.

"No."the blue haired male drawled, no chance for negotiation in the frozen tone. The security guard that hadn't really been paying too much attention to him suddenly looked up in surprise. He meet an arctic pair of slate orbs.

"Sir, I don't think you understand. Its just for a moment and is to protect the guests of the airline."He politely told him, standing up and now standing almost a full foot taller than the younger male. Kaito meet his gaze calmly, unimpressed. Jack was getting swept with the wand to his side.

"How very nice for your guests, however, I have no intention of doing as you request."His statement had a 'simple as that' quality to it as the guard started looking rather annoyed. That's it, keep believing your superior to the kid. Kaito thought darkly watching the mouth above him pull downwards.

"I'm afraid that's not possible, son. We have to maintain the rules for everyone's safety. It only takes a moment and doesn't hurt I promise." There was a condescension in the polite tone. The look the young heir directed towards him from under his bangs suggested he wasn't impressed with the tone and did it in a cold and dark enough way the guy actually took a small step back before catching himself. Lips lifted into a cruel parody of a smile.

"I can assure you, you attempt to go through with your request and it WILL in fact hurt."there was a sarcastic and mocking purr in his tone. The only time he used tones was to draw out reactions, nothing touching the dark cold emptiness of his eyes as the guys glare shot into life. The guard apparently didn't approve of the not so subtle threat and hit the button on his speaker to call in reinforcements. Kaito's smirk tipped at the edge as they waited. Jack sitting on the edge of the counter on the other side of the arches pulling his shoes on and waiting.

A moment later several other guards showed up as well as an individual in a suit with a pin of the airports colors and his name. The guard shot Kaito a mocking look before walking towards him and explaining to the obvious manager that there was a problem with the security checkpoint for this particular 'guest'. The blue haired male kept quiet and calmly meet the managers stare.

"Sir, I'm sorry, but if you refuse to go through the checks we'll have to escort you from the building and your ticket will not be refunded." the manager explained, stepping forward with a no-nonsense walk and a polite tone. Nothing changed in Kaito's expression as he watched the man until he came within acceptable distance.

"My name is Sorazorashii Kaito, I'm a protected flyer under regulation 36.85D subsection 6. As such I'm authorizing my right to enter any checkpoint without examination."The manager blinked at him. The regulation had been pushed by his father for more than one reason, but it authorized someone who was a 'government official or had the interest of the nation' to pass through security all over the nation. It wasn't well known, and usually used by drug handlers, so far Kaito had never used it himself. All for one lighter and a red-head...what happened to his life?

The manager finally seemed to get over the shock as he realized he was looking at a high ranking government official at the very least. Even if it was a bit strange coming from a young boy, but who knew what happened these days. Almost instantly his manner went ingratiating.

"Of course sir! I'm terribly sorry we've inconvenienced you so. Marcus is new, you'll have to excuse him, we'll give him a sharp reprimand for his actions. If you'd just follow me we'll bypass the security codes." He quickly waved at the security guards who parted for him with a little confusion among their ranks. The original guard looking closer to sick than annoyed now. The blue haired teenager followed the manager with a completely expressionless look as they walked around all the metal detectors. The manager bowed to him, which was slightly impressive because it suggested he picked up the Japanese name usage and was responding accordingly. Not quite as stupid as he looked then.

"If there's anything I can do for you sir, the airport would only be too glad to assist to make up for this unfortunate event." He gushed, getting a slight head tip from the blue haired male.

"I would require the use of your Platinum club, exclusivly. We're to be informed the second our flight arrives and boarded first. Red meat only in my meal, medium-rare and fresh vegtables with a sealed Evian. Mr. Vari?"he turned empty orbs towards Jack with a sort of bored nonchalance in his request for what the red-head might require. The manager seemed already rather upset, but then the Platinum club alone probably would cost them several thousand dollars an hour for the time the pair remained there.

Jack stood and crossed his arms over his chest, watching the display in front of him with barely suppressed amusement glittering darkly in his violet eyes. He had no idea exactly what weapons Kaito had at his disposal, but they appeared to be formidable ones. He understood that the young man’s father had a lot of influence and a substantial bit of wealth. He understood, in a vague kind of way, that this meant he, and therefore Kaito, could persuade people to break the rules for them. But it seemed these were some fairly serious rules because the men around the blue haired boy continued to press him, insisting he relinquish whatever he was carrying and follow procedure.

So it came as a surprise to Jack when he did not tense up. He’d said before they left that he would trust Kaito, but he hadn’t realized he meant it quite this much. Instead, he only leaned forward a little to watch. Not understanding exactly how Kaito did what he did didn’t make the match any less entertaining. You didn’t have to know the techniques involved to enjoy a good sword match. And it was hard to resist wondering where first blood would be drawn. No, Jack was fine with simply watching Kaito this time.

Provided, of course, that they didn’t actually touch him.

And the match goes to Kaito, Jack thought, smirking. The manager looked like he’d just swallowed a goldfish. Whatever regulation 36.-something was, it was over the man’s pay grade by a good shot. If the man had started kissing a** any faster, Kaito’s pants would have caught fire. A hint of a grin tugged a the corner of his mouth, a flash of white teeth in an expression that was more entertained than purely happy.

He moved smoothly to stand by Kaito, eyeing the manager as the blue haired boy next to him rattled off a few near impossible demands in the same tone used to ask someone to pass the salt. It was all he could do to keep from laughing, but figured that would have spoiled the mood of polite menace the other had created. He took his time answering, drawing his eyes up and down the man in front of him as though making a note of which points to aim a gun at the moment the man’s back was turned. “I’m not very picky,” he replied, managing to throw the sarcasm straight past the person who actually asked and over to the adult. If they felt like sweating about how to make their newest pair of special guests happy, Jack wasn’t really in the mood to make things easier for them. They could do their best to guess.

Jack rolled his shoulders back and cocked his head to the side, working out a kink as an unhappy looking guard moved forward to escort them to the Platinum club. Jack wasn’t sure what to expect, but what he found was a room that looked like it had been transplanted into the airport out of a fancy hotel. A bar area that looked like it had way too much polish stood off to the side with a man in a penguin suit standing like an attentive statue behind the counter. There were seats that looked softer than his dorm bed and couple of televisions against the wall and…

“…and suddenly airports aren’t so bad,” Jack said, keeping his voice low enough to only reach Kaito’s ears. Good god, no wonder rich businessmen didn’t seem to mind flying. This was a damn sight better than stiff plastic chairs and ten dollar hamburgers that tasted like they’d been ‘fresh’ for a week. Jack resisted the urge to loosen his tie, flopping down onto one of the couches.

“Remind me not to ever work some place you frequent,” he shot at grin at Kaito. “People like you make life hell.”

Kaito decided that Jack may not be so bad at this game as the red-head thought. He played right into the game with a smooth ease that managed to make a perfect counterpart to the artists cold. The manager looked between them like he was wishing he hadn't got out of bed that morning but was maintaining his smile.

"I trust you'll see to it our needs are meet."He drawled darkly as the guard walked up to be their escort. The manager's face a little pale as he promised to do so as the two teenagers walked off. Kaito kept a blank look on his face the entire way there, knowing what to expect because he generally stayed in the Platinum club regardless. It just wasn't usually empty while he did so. The artist waited until their escort had left before turning his slate blue orbs towards Jack who was obviously impressed with the surroundings. A touch of amusement thawed some of the ice.

"I've never had a problem with airports."he responded in a dry tone as he moved towards the couch as well and sat. The position had their backs to the only other person in the room, their voices wouldn't carry to far. He relaxed back into the cushions and turned his head once more towards his roommate who was grinning at him.

"Don't ever work where I frequent."Kaito reminded him in a monotone, just the edges of his lips quirking to take the comment correctly. Then he closed his slate orbs and rested his head against the top of the seat he'd occupied. Generally the places he frequented knew him on sight and didn't question him, that and he didn't usually actually throw his weight around like that unless annoyed. What would be the point?

A hand dipped into his pocket and closed around the lighter, pulling it free and holding it out for his roommate without Kaito having opened his eyes.

"As promised."they would have about ten minutes or so if he'd timed it right for them to wait for the plan to finish getting ready. He'd scanned the boards and seen it had landed already. That was given there were no unforeseen complications which were quite regular at airports and as such should become rather well seen complications instead. Which was good because there was still something he needed to discuss with the male at his side.

“I wouldn’t have a problem with airports either if I was treated like a wrathful god descended from on high,” Jack replied, still clearly amused and vindictively satisfied at the punishment for those who had attempted to separate him from his beloved lighter. He figure the minds of the staff were going to be locked in a perpetual state of fearful anticipation until Kaito and his entourage of one were about a thousand feet in the air. The fuel up and restocking for their plane was going to break world records. Which was kind of a shame now that they were in this place. It was pretty damn comfy and Jack wouldn’t have minded poking around a bit.

He was glad to see Kaito relax next to him and softened just enough that only someone paying attention would have even noticed. He couldn’t help a brief laugh when the blue haired boy ‘reminded’ him at his request. He didn’t mind watching his roommate, tilting his head so he could comfortably keep an eye on Kaito’s face. First, like it or not Kaito was attractive. It wasn’t surprising people continued to try to approach him even with his arctic flavored aura. But more than that, Jack liked being able to catch the fleeting emotions or expressions that crossed his face. Especially his lips, given the violet eyes were naturally drawn to that particular feature anyway. Lips that sometimes told little tales about what was the storm colored eyes were attempting to hide.

Jack reached out and took the lighter, wrapping his fingers around it. He pressed it once against his lips and shut his eyes in a manner that would have suggested prayer in anyone else. The metal was still slightly warm from Kaito’s body heat and now smelled faintly of cigarettes and whatever cologne or aftershave the boy next to him wore. “Thanks,” he breathed. He squeezed it once and tucked it back into his pocket, the shape making a faint impression in the fabric where it pressed against his leg when he sat down.

Now that the world was more or less back in its rightful place, Jack’s eyes began to roam around the room, more obviously interested without the distraction. That person in the corner bar was still there, much to his chagrin. He would have been tempted to make much better use of that couch if the man had gone off to take his break, but the airport was clearly worried about leaving them unattended in case one of them needed something. Maybe if he sent the man off for... for shaved ice or something equally stupid and hard to find. Quail eggs. People ate those, didn’t they? Or maybe Jack could just glare and demand he get out. Though leaving two teenagers alone with a stocked bar probably wouldn’t be permitted. Damn.

At least the image of them showing up for the interview drunk off their asses was entertaining.

"What can I say, its a talent."He drawled appreciating the amusement in Jack's voice and his comment. There was no point in saying that generally he didn't act like that, he was feeling oddly pleased that the red-head seemed to have appreciated his efforts as much as he did.

Once more the violet eyes were watching him, something that Kaito caught out of the corner of his eye. He felt the faint glow touching his cheeks at the examination as he waited for the lighter to get taken. The slate blue orbs softening slightly at how much Jack really cared for that lighter, as he closed his eyes and seemed to take a moment just reassuring himself it was actually there. However, there was still the biggest worry he had. Turning his head slightly he speared the attendant behind the counter with a frigid look.

"I require a cotton blended 14X19 pastel sketch pad, minimum of 100 pages."he coldly told the male who, in proving how long he'd worked with the rich, didn't bat an eye as he dipped a bow and left the room to get it. If teenagers at Kaito's level wanted alcohol no attendant was going to stop them and the man had already been told to provide whatever was requested of him. Slate blue orbs watched him leave, noticing that Jack had been watching him too.

"Jack, the games going to start from here on out. Remember what I told you."Kaito paused and took a short breath, knowing that this would likely be the only time they'd be alone from here on out. His eyes locked on his room mate willing to explain to avoid hurting him. Yet another sign of how far he'd fallen.

"No matter what I say or do from now on, none of its real."his tone was as flat as ever, but with it there was a certain sense of intensity that suggested this was important to him. He very likely was going to end up saying something that would piss the red-head off and if he reacted to it everything could be ruined. As long as Hormel or the others were watching he had to be colder than ice and maintain his usual actions.

Kaito had either picked up on Jack’s own desire to get rid of the third wheel in the room because a quick command got the man to leave almost as soon as Jack had finished wishing for it. He listened to the door click with a satisfied nod. Thank god. Jack was fairly certain there weren’t any cameras in the room. Anywhere else in the airport there would be, but if the rest of the population that counted among the rich and obscenely important were anything like the one beside him, they would value their privacy more than their security. Allowing strangers to tape them would be appalling and those with influence had probably already made sure the room was bare of any recording devices in case they needed a moment to talk freely. Much the way he and Kaito were doing now.

He fixed his eyes on Kaito, letting a rare moment of seriousness settle into his mind. Even when he was focused on something important Jack didn’t have the same blank face Kaito did. His thoughts were still displayed on his face, ready to be read by anyone with half a mind to look, but at least this time it said he was paying attention. He gave a brief nod. His roommate obviously counted on something happening. Jack just wished he had a clearer idea of what that something was.

“I don’t like playing blindfolded,” he said, a growl creeping into the back of his throat. But the growl wasn’t aimed at Kaito or anywhere near him, merely at the situation that forced their position. Jack was torn. He didn’t want to wish the senator had never picked him because that would mean never having met the boy who’d managed to turn him on his head within hours of their first meeting. But that same man was responsible for this mess. He understood that Kaito planned to ruin the senator’s reputation by implying his actions were less than altruistic, courtesy of an uncomfortable and young looking Jack. He understood that Kaito did not want his involvement in the affair to get back to his father who was apparently the devil to Kaito’s wrathful god act.

“I won’t hold anything against you for the next few days,”
Jack promised. He ran a hand through his hair, frustration making him forget he was supposed to look tidy. Oh well. Maybe the messiness would add to the ‘youth’ side they were trying to play up. “But I wish I knew what I was supposed to be doing besides looking like an idiot on camera and trying not to punch anyone.” The last bit was mostly an exaggeration to tempt a half smile out of Kaito, but a descending sense of doom told him his patience was going to be completely taxed by the end of this. If he’d lost his cool just because Kaito was ignoring him, what was he going to do when Kaito turned into whatever he was trying to warn Jack about?

"I trust you'll respond perfectly."Kaito informed the boy, knowing perfectly well that Jack was uncomfortable but he did in fact trust his instincts. The red-head had handled himself perfectly in every situation as it deemed at the time so far, and while it might annoy his room mate, Kaito believed Jack would continue to do so.

Thankfully it would be unlikely Jack would have to take this level of involvement with anything again. Kaito could easily handle the rest of the situation but most of it would be a snowball rolling downhill. It would simply gather into itself and become a destructive force. The blue haired male did relax slightly when his roommate promised him not to blame him for anything in the next few days. Kaito would at least remind him of that because he KNEW what he acted like and Jack would not approve.

"Your playing a game, like risk only without the little figurines. Everyone else is the enemy and the only way to win is to make them do what you want. The news anchor to adore you, the audience to sympathize with you as a classic American boy, and the senator to see nothing coming."he tried to explain slightly, knowing that the rules likely wouldn't make sense because they changed constantly. It was a game Kaito had been playing for years and now Jack had to play at his level with no training. He felt a little bad to be involving him, but that was mostly just those strange emotions Jack pulled out in him.

"I'll handle Senator Hormel, you concentrate on the hostess."Still worried over what this would cause Kaito gave in to the strange urge whispering in his head and leaned forward quickly to brush his lips across the other boys. He only had a limited experience on how to do so, but it was sweet and some how apologetic. They probably only had minutes anyway until their plan was ready and he had his notebook once more.
