It had been a long day... well, to the unkempt, crazily-painted stallion named Kat, that is. The sun had woken him so early that morning, shouting her glory at him in the form of birdsong and insect chirps. Ah, how he hated the noise. It seemed that his dreams were the only place he could escape the incessant sounds of lesser animals, and yet the lady gold insisted on waking him at unholy times of day. Ah, how he hated her.
Well, of course he hadn't gone back to sleep. Once his eyes glimpsed the open path before him, his mind couldn't relax enough to fall back into slumber. So he had ambled quite aimlessly, until coming upon a nest of mice, who, (guess what?) were squeaking terribly noisily. He couldn't stand the sound, so he had to stamp them into the dirt, until every last one of the crusty little rodents grew silent. Then, unfortunately, the little bloody puddle at his hoof tips seemed so out of place on the clean mossy ground, so he had to find a place to bury the mice, all of them, one by one. Ah, what a messy job it had been.
But it had satisfied him, and now he was off to find a stream to bathe in, for who in his right mind would walk around with blood on their hooves? Surely not him...
He chuckled, his eyes rolling, and continued along under the trees.

A lone mare stumbled forwards, her head held down in exhaustion. At first glance, there was nothing too special about her. Her fur was dark and quite matted, her mane knotted and filthy, her hooves splattered with some dark liquid. Yet upon closer inspection one could see that the substance which obscured her hooves was a rotting brown, the color of dried blood. A faint green mark could just be seen under the splotches on her hindquarters, and an emerald cloud of vapor hovered around her muzzle.
Despite her rather beaten and weary look, a flame blazed through her eyes, as fierce as the raging power of a forest, as powerful as the force of a crushing tidal wave. Her mission was successful, she had had her ultimate revenge, and now she was ambling back home to the equally blood-thirsty horses she shared lands with. The faint buzz of adrenaline still hummed through her veins, giving her enough energy to plough on back.
A light breeze drifted over to her, and through the gagging stench of gas a new scent hit her. Blood. Fresh. Her head shot up as her eyes rolled, the whites showing. Who dared to cross her path? Out of the corner of her vision she spotted a gray shadow. His body was illuminated with bright stripes, his fur in a slightly better condition than hers, as soaked in blood as it was.
Her eyes narrowed into slits as a low yet menacing hiss escaped from them, a sound few (if any) horses could make. Who was this strange creature?

Kat looked up from where he had stumbled to, a new scent drifting across his twitching nostrils. His blood-encrusted hooves came to a halt over a pile of fallen leaves, crunching them haphazardly and quite loudly, obnoxiously making his presence known. Of course, he figured, who wouldn't notice him here, in the shadows beneath the trees, when the paint on his coat seemed to have a glow of its own? He never really bothered with wariness--it was simply easier to walk right into the middle of things.
And, to his surprise, he saw another horse not too far away, gazing just as carefully at him. It was a mare, rough and unkempt looking, with a rather ugly coat and strange design on her rump. She looked as if she had spent days in a mud puddle! Even Kat knew how to keep clean and tidy... well, as much as his changing moods would let him.
Deciding that standing still would do him no justice, he began to walk forward again, his rolling eyes focusing more or less evenly on the mare's face. As he neared her, he noticed that her mouth, eyes, and hooves had a strange, ethereal glow to them. All thoughts of spirit paint fled from his mind as he saw how the glow lit the air--there was something unnatural about her. How delighting!
He trotted right up to her, or at least about ten feet away, and came to a rather awkward stop, shaking his rough mane from his eyes. "Hey! You there! What are you, if I may inquire?" The loud words were promptly followed by a loose giggle, and his hooves dug into the ground litter beneath him.

As the strange creature, no, horse, approached her, Poison Ivy's head snapped back as her teeth bared. Her ears pressed backwards as her eyes rolled, one hoof lifting off the ground instinctively, although whether that instinct was fight or flight even she knew not.
From his odd stumbling, she knew even in her half-crazed state that he was no threat. A thought crossed her mind as her snarl turned into a sneer. She snorted as her hoof came back down to greet the ground. The humans had been an easy kill, quick yet satisfying, but she wanted more. She would have her fun with this one, toying with him before dealing a brutal ending.
Her eyes blazed far stronger than their usual ghostly glow. This she would enjoy. "I'm a blood-stained horse from the pits of Hell." She snorted, wondering how he would take the truth. Stories about the Hell herd had been spreading, so maybe it wouldn't come as that much of a shock. Then again, this stallion was clearly... not so normal. What would really screw him up? "What manner of beast are you?" She questioned, allowed herself to take a step forwards half-threateningly, half-curiously.

Kat's eyes widened slightly at the mare's apparantly hostile stance, yet he felt no fear--it was not that he was brave, but simply that his crooked mind did not hold enough knowledge to warn him of what danger may lay ahead. Instead, he took it as a sort of game, as a young foal would, and gave a little laugh as he held his ground.
"Blood-stained? But you're all green! I've never seen green blood... 'cept in a caterpillar. Nasty little things, those buggers. Never like them... never liked bugs." He sniffed gingerly at the air; sure enough, she didn't smell normal, and instead smelled strangely of sulfur and death. But it only served to interest him, and he took another step forward, shortening the gap.
"From Hell, eh? Mother always said that I'd go there, if I didn't watch my "activities". Well, I guess she'll never know, will she? Haha!" The last was an outburst as he remembered his horrified mother. He hadn't liked her much... the hoof in her skull had served her right.
He cocked his head at her last question. Sure, he was cookoo, but who didn't know what he was? DUH!
"I'm a horse, you dolt! Just like yourself! Unless you really are some demon... or maybe a frog. You kind of look like one, you know." He stated this matter-of-factly, oblivious to his terrible manners.

This stallion had to be insane, there was no other explanation for it, logical or not. Her head snapped up in retort sharply, a plume of gas escaping from her mouth. "Fool. I am no caterpillar. Do you not recognize blood-stains when you see them?" She held up her hoof, showing the dark liquid that was sploshed over them, before shaking her matted mane. He was testing her patience, juxtaposing someone as powerful as herself with something as fragile as a caterpillar.
Her eyes narrowed at his next comment. He would go to Hell? The memories of it sent shudders down her spine, causing her eyes to roll, the whites showing once more. That damned place had cost her everything, and she had no intentions of ever going back. But it still held her tightly in its grasp, she a mere pawn in the grand scheme of death. "Serves you right, a pathetic being like yourself deserves no better than to be sent underground. Send me a message if you ever want to go there, I'd be more than happy to send you down."
As he insulted her, her temper flared once more, relatively calm mood (for her) spontaneously combusting. "Maybe I'm not a horse anymore. I am no beast that has ever walked this earth before." As if to emphasize her point, a thin waft of green smoke floated upwards from her nostrils, leaving a disgusting stench behind it. "I highly doubt I am a frog, seeing as I eat them for breakfast. Then again... I never said I didn't eat my own kind, if my own kind even exists." Baring her teeth in a grin, a feeling of smugness spread through her. That would screw his mind up.

Kat's head cocked to the side at the strange mare's words. He squinted his eyes and leaned closer, sniffing excessively at the air in front of him. Whoo, she stunk! But yes, there they were! The blood stains... had she too run into a nest of incessantly squeaking field mice? Perhaps he wasn't the only one that found their shrill cries murderous to the ears.
"Well... I never said that I WANTED to go to Hell, now did I? It's only what my old mum told me... thought she knew everything, she did. She was so sure of herself, and so sure of me. But I sure showed her, haha! But you say you've been to Hell? Very strange, strange indeed... why aren't you all crisped, like a lightning-struck bush? I could of sworn that Hell had fire..." he wandered off into his head for a moment, a blank expression filling his features as he puzzled his own stupidity. But the crooked mouth soon shot back into the disturbing smile.
"Well, you have a very strange appetite, I must say. I tried to eat a worm once... didn't turn out too nicely. Nasty little things, those worms are. They squirm too much when you try to bite down on them!" He cackled, thinking highly of his own words. But then he looked down again, at the green vapor that seemed to emit from the mare in front of him. Whereas most horses would have ran at that point, this new discovery only interested Kat even more. He wondered if he could do such a thing... the mare had to have acquired such an amazing talent! So he stretched his neck out, took a deep breath...
And sneezed all over the mare. Aww, too bad! He guessed that he did't have magical powers after all. Then maybe she was telling the truth!
"So... you're a monster, huh... a lot of people say I'm a monster. But I'll have to reconsider their accusations, haha-ha!"

The mare leered at the crazy stallion as he leaned closer and began to sniff her. Her ears moved back until they were pressed against the side of her head as her teeth ground together. Did this stupid horse not understand that he should stay away?
The next jumble of words out of his mouth took her by surprise for a moment, before a deep booming laughter erupted from within her. Her eyes rolled, showing red-tinged whites. "Fire? If only fire was the only thing in Hell that could hurt us." The laughter turned into a high pitched cackle, her body transferring its weight from one hoof to another as though incapable of standing still. "Yes there was fire. There was famine. There was no water. Every day was a living nightmare. And although we could feel the flames, see the food crumble and die below our hooves, feel the ice cold of a blizzard, none of them could harm us. We were trapped, frozen between living and non-living. Always burning, yet flesh remaining intact. The pain was always there." She smashed her teeth together, putting an end to her odd monologue, the crazed cackles fading out into silence around them.
Worms? Damn stallion. Did he not understand her love of blood? The need to crunch down on juicy flesh? The passion that drove her into frenzied fits of blood-lust? "Worms are nothing on what I've eaten."
And then... he sneezed on her. That. Was. Too. Far. She reared up backwards, her shining hooves lashing out blindly in her sudden fury. Anger flared, as strong as the red lava as it exploded from the underground pits of a volcano. "Monster is an understatement!" She screeched, throwing her head up to the sky.

Kat had to scoot backwards, his back hooves scraping in the dirt as he tried to avoid her hooves. What was it with all the horses he had met? They became so irritated so quickly, and then always resorted to violence! It was no way to treat a stranger... even if he was annoying. Was he? He never really thought much about his actions. He just acted.
"Woah there, missy! Settle down, geezus!" He raised his eyebrows, moving his head slowly from side to side, as if trying to pacify her. True, he didn't want to earn a busted eye, so he had to at least calm her down enough to stop her thrashing. Besides... his curiosity was genuinely peaked now.
"You know, anger is never the solution. Why don't we try talking a bit more? Say... are there more like you? More... Hell Horses? It's so interesting to think of all these undead creatures... why, I'd love to meet them!" His eyes rolled with insane excitement, and he almost pranced in place thinking of the gross beings he could investigate.
