Necrala knew better then to wander away from the pack, really she did, but she had been doing it since she had learned to walk. Usually no one found out, and the few times they had she had charmingly put them off. Besides exploration was the spice in her life, she had seen so many interesting things, and it was how she had come by the unique silver mask that decorated her. She knew her mother would have told her all the adornments in the world wouldn't make her pretty. Necrala was harsh like that, which was why she pretended not to know that Necrala was her mother. It was obvious though, she looked just like her. The only difference was that Millanna's coat was unblemished by the death like markings that covered her mother.

She cast thoughts of Necrala from her mind determined to enjoy herself today, to find something new and interesting in the world. The pack was all abuzz with talk and preparations for war with Agua Azul, and she wouldn't be underfoot. At least that sounded like a pretty good excuse, yes she just didn't want to be underfoot. With a smile and a toss of her head that sent the silver tinkling she trotted off on the start of her adventure.

Necros was wandering through his state of half sleep, a series of dreams that could have been nightmares. His old pack. Their bloodlust. How many had they slaughtered in those days? In his dreams, the procession of bodies seemed endless. And the women. He had any wolf he wanted, whether out of lust for his robust body or out of fear, it hadn't mattered. Fifty, a hundred females, who knows how many b*****d pups he had sired in those days. That last femme though, she brought the end to it all.

The undead beast let a rippling snarl escape his throat as he slept. If only he could have punished her for it, abused her until she died between his clenched teeth, ripped that gorgeous body with his claws. But she had escaped him, and he could never touch her again.

He heard something coming, but the fantasies of tearing that female to bits kept his eyes shut. Flickering shape of a live wolf behind his eyelids. Necros let out another snarl. Perhaps just the sight of him would make the interloper turn tail and run, then he wouldn't have to break from his daydream.

Millanna sniffed curiously and blinked, she moved closer to the strange smell half death half wolf. Had something killed a wolf near here? Two leggers perhaps? or the dreaded Reign of Terror? She tried to be quiet as she snuck up her head low and her paws carefully set in tiny steps. Silver eyes fixed on the odd sight ahead and slowly narrowed. She blinked again, hard this time determined to figure out what illusion this was. Whatever it was it was still there when she opened her eyes and she slowly poked her head out a bit more curious. Slowly she slunk towards the figure her mouth parting in awe.

It was a wolf, or it had been, it was half rotted away and her nose wrinkled a bit at the gruesome sight. She sniffed again wondering why it still smelled like a wolf and not just like decay. Her head tilted a bit and hesitantly she moved her paw to give the strange figure a soft nudge.

Necros flattened his ear as she came ever closer. Certainly she wasn't going to try and touch him? He breathed, sort of, he'd made a sound, he was alive and dead and she was not afraid.

How did he know it was a she?

Something in the way the other wolf felt to him, her heartbeat, the breath from her lips, the rustle of her fur in the wind. Her life force was distinctly female. Interesting. And it was coming closer. Closer still. Her paw started to brush over a patch of his remaining fur and Necros was alive and standing back from her as though he'd been struck with electricity. In just that moment, the zombie had felt his aura reach out, trying to snuff out that light and take it into himself. His body rippled with the lingering sensation of her, the place she had gotten so close to a little more life-like, for the moment. The shaman stared at her through glowing sockets, the surprise lasting only for a few seconds. He wondered if the closeness had been painful to her.

"Can't you see," the zombie snarled, "when someone is sleeping?"

Millanna had been completely entranced, and then her paw touched his skin and she felt a sharp n**. She danced back and let out a startled cry falling onto her rump. It was ALIVE! Well...sortof, her eyes widened in shock silver orbs reflecting the undead wolf. Her mouth opened and closed a few times before she managed to stammer out a few words. "I...I thought-your were dead!" She gasped out and then took a few deep breaths to calm herself.

She moved closer again and peered at him staring entranced at his green glowing sockets. "How are you..." She started before cutting off what was an obviously rude question. Maybe this was all some strange dream, a walking fantasy. Her mother had told said often enough she looked like death, but that was laughable. Laughable! This was what death looked like, incredible, frightening, and amazing all at the same time. She leaned in closer still her nose twitching. "I'm Millanna..." She finally breathed out still surprised the strange apparition before her hadn't vanished.

Necros actually had to clench his jaw to keep from laughing at Millanna as she fell back, and even then a light 'hmph' that sounded not entirely unlike a laugh managed to huff its way through his nose. He took the moment to look her up and down. Pretty thing, too nosy for her own good though. He very well could have killed her and never been able to stop it. Though she reminded him of....

He beat back the sudden urge to rip this femme limb from limb. It was just her color. She wasn't a ghost, Cas was dead, and Necros wasn't so low as to murder just because someone resembled that b***h. The zombie was bloodthirsty, not insane.

Necros 'blinked' at her, that is, his visible muscles went through the motion of what should have been blinking. He forced himself to hold back the blackness and death, keep it within himself, and he leaned toward her in return. So close, in fact, that his muzzle bumped into hers. That ought to give her a dose of the reality of the situation, bare bone against her fur and flesh. "Necros." Raspy, deep voice responded in a purposefully low whisper.

Her eyes slowly widened as he leaned in and she felt the sudden soft touch of dry bone against her wet nose. Her ears flicked as she caught his name and she remained frozen for a moment. For the love of telk, he was actually there, actually real, a real living...uhh...dead wolf. "Pleased to meet you..." She finally murmured softly her voice breathlessly excited. What were the odds of ever stumbling onto such a thing?

She ducked her head suddenly her ears falling back as blood rose and warmed her face. Goodness but he must think her terribly rude to be poking and staring. "I'm sorry-I...I've just never seen a...a...anyone who was.." She looked him up and down trying to find the right word. "What happened?" She finally asked curiosity winning out over the manners her family had tried to teach her. Goodness but her aunt alas would be ashamed of the way she was staring and prodding some poor stranger. And what would papa say if he knew what kind of thoughts she was having?

Yup.

He had no idea what to do with this.

Generally, Necros got one of three reactions: Hostility, fear, or disgust. One or multiple of these generally led to the end of any conversation he could have hoped for. But this one, was she stammering? Blushing?

What the hell?

The ease of it almost took all the fun out of it. Almost.

The shaman dragged his bone nose across her cheek before withdrawing, an undead nuzzle. Even if she reminded him of that other one, he could still have some fun. At least until this female figured out that he was killing everything around him, and got wise. "Charmed." Necros rasped dryly, smirking.

He sat back on his haunches, the remaining bit of his muzzle still curled up in that slight smile. "Once upon a time, there was a pack of wolves who believed that if you ate enough of your own kind, you could live forever. And when others finally tried to kill them off, one did live after all."

He was fascinating, what more could she ask for, what further exploration then this? This was it, if she lived a hundred years she doubted she'd ever find anything so interesting ever again! She shivered slightly at the sensation of a nuzzle and watched his expression. It was incredible to see muscle and bone move without the flesh over them making the smiles and frowns and little gestures she was so used to.

Charmed he said, but of course the pleasure was all hers!

She listened to his short little tale and gaped a bit her mouth making little circles as she struggled to find words. Goodness but he had never felt so speechless in her entire life. Normally she knew just what to say and when and how, but this wolf threw her for a loop. He ate other wolves, like some kind of cannibal? He sounded like he'd fit right in with their neighboring enemies, yet she couldn't quite summon up disgust. Cannibals were disgusting because there was no REASON to eat the flesh of their brothers, prey was plentiful...but his reason was for immortality...and while she would have dismissed him as a crazy monster...it had WORKED. "It really worked...thats amazing!" She slowly stood and circled him before sitting back infront of him. "Amazing..." She muttered again thinking of her family, of her dead sister, of the upcoming war. If they took a little taste...would it save them?

That shiver, it sent a tingle of excitement down his spine that he hadn't felt in years. He couldn't remember how long it had been that he was trapped in this accursed form, unable to cause that response. Only disgust and terror remained for him, or so he'd thought. And now that the opposite circled him, sat transfixed before him, Necros was baffled. He stared off into space, or at her, it was difficult to tell with those eyes of his. Several seconds passed before it struck him that, not only had she believed his story, but seemed interested. He had no idea she was already planning to try his old habit.

Well, it was mostly true after all, he thought.

"Of course it worked!" A bark louder than he intended it to be. "Those fools gave it their all and still couldn't get rid of the nightmare. It only made me look like they saw me, a monster." Necros looked Millanna up and down, studying her. She was robust in contrast to his own decay, pretty, though the pale fur still bothered him, and that mask distracted him from her eyes. Pale eyes, like the rest of her, deep and hued with blue. The zombie glanced away and cleared his throat. Too much like Cas. "Why so interested in me, anyway?"

She knew Alas and her father and her whole pack would be angry with her if they knew where she was. What she doing, who she was speaking to, and what she was contemplating. She loved them though and if there was a way to keep them alive wasn't it worth it? Besides if she were honest with herself she was quite enchanted by this strange monstrosity of a wolf. He was like something out of a dark fairytale, and if she turned away now would she ever find that peculiar realm ever again?

"To be honest...I've never seen anything quite like you before..." She murmured softly before blushing and lowering her muzzle. "I don't mean to sound rude...though you must think me terribly so."
She really had no desire to offend him mainly because she didn't want to see him go until she had learned more, and of course before she was mildly afraid of what he might do if offended. Did he still eat other wolves, she wondered with morbid curiosity.

Still not knowing what to make of this female, Necros settled in and just decided to accept her company for a while. Perhaps he could find out where she came from, and lead him to others who wouldn't be so frightened of his appearance. Hell, if there were more like her, she could even be the key to rebuilding his empire of terror!

The zombie tucked his muzzle underneath hers, and gently tried to lift her flushed nose up again, trying with all his soul not to remember his past as he did so. A flash of his brown fur against her pale. Her muzzle tracing the blue swirls on his back and shoulder. Necros clenched his jaw and hoped it went unnoticed. "You didn't offend me, my dear." Even when it was soft, his voice was deep and gruff, as though his vocal chords were partly decayed as well. "To my knowledge, my unfortunate state is unique, so don't feel ashamed." A hint of his old, charming self. He didn't know whether to feel proud or disgusted at his own words. What would be the point in luring her in anyway? He was torn on the subject of eating her, and even if she was interested and he wanted to seduce her, would he even... work?

"You have to understand. Most reactions to my presence range from horror to hostility. Please, I should be the one to apologize. What else did you want to know? Then, once I've answered your questions, perhaps I can get to know you as well." Well, even in uncertainty sometimes it was worth a shot.

Unique was certainly one way to put it, it was laughable that her mother thought she looked like a dead wolf. She held back the laughter though not wanting to offend him. She hadn't inherited any of the sickly markings that her mother seemed to loath, instead she had her mothers pale deadly color highlighted by the silver tones of her father. She had heard Musketeer murmur to the other adults how much she resembled her older sister Moranna. It hurt to be compared to her now long gone sister, no doubt she was dead, though none of them wanted to admit it. She felt like a replacement, second best, always in the shadow of one who had come before. Her father and brother and sister even treated her as if she were delicate. She wasn't though, she was strong and alive, not weak and sickly like Moranna had been since birth. She was the total opposite of her older sister, but no one in the pack seemed to see that, instead looking at her was like re-living a sad memory. Perhaps that was why she had been so excited when the mask had fallen over her face transforming her into an exotic looking beauty.

She snapped back to attention surprised her thoughts had wandered so far, the way she had wandered...so far from home. She slowly smiled at his kind words relaxing as she felt his muzzle lift her own. "I am sorry you suffer inhospitality along with your...condition. Is it unpleasant? Does it...hurt?" She asked softly her voice turning into a delicate hush as if by simply asking she was summoning pain.

Necros got up slowly, purposely letting the exposed muscles of his body flex visibly. For being mostly dead, he was in pretty good shape after all. He was going to flirt with her even if he was utterly convinced that she was a little off her rocker. Even in the old days, a wolf had to be a little crazy to carry on a conversation with him.

He circled her, slowly, looking over the tendrils of the mask that was veiling her. Indeed, it was pretty. She was pretty.

Edible.

The zombie swallowed. It would be easy if he could get behind her. He could hold on to her and pull the life from her, love her as she died, and then consume her. Remnants of eyelids fluttered closed over his glowing sockets, and he forced the thoughts away, but his muzzle brushed over the back of her neck anyway.

Screams filled the back of his mind as he brushed over the back of her neck, all urging him to take a bite, the spirits of the underworld calling for Millanna. Necros forced his aura down. He was never going to get used to this, was he? "No," he whispered to her, "it doesn't hurt. I'm more fearsome than I have ever been. Can I tell you a secret, Millanna?"

Her silver gaze was riveted to the way he moved, she couldn't help but give an excited little shiver as he circled her. It was all so strange, so new, so incredible...and Necros was oddly charming. She felt sorry for him in so many ways, she could just imagine the persecution he must suffer, the way others must scorn him. She knew wolves who were different or weaker or smaller were often unable to find packs. Necros certainly wasn't small or weak looking but he was very, very different.

She lowered her head a little eyeing him coyly through the misty silver screen of her mask. She didn't manage coy very well though and came off looking more like a shy female who hadn't any experience with males outside her own family, which was exactly her. When his muzzle brushed her she let out a tiny gasp barely a puff of air across her teeth that sent her heart racing.

His whisper made her legs tremble a bit, she felt as if every bone in her body were melting under the heat of his gaze. She slowly nodded entranced by his words. "I promise not to tell..." She murmured innocently.
