It was early in the afternoon and Kafara had volunteered to keep all of the kids entertained-- and of course, Enzi was being dragged along for the fun. Not all of the cubs needed supervision now but many of the big kids liked to play, too. Especially with Hamamu to help out now. They were playing a big game of hide and seek and, being the adults, it was up to Kafara and Enzi to count while everybody else ran and hid.

As soon as they all started to scramble away to hide, Kafara turned herself around so she couldn't see-- but she listened. The scramble was always amusing, but nobody was ever that fast finding a place.

"OK, how high do you think we'll get today?"

Enzi was having fun, he always did. He was slower turning around than Kafara, watching as Lisi and Biski hurried Hamamu along-- and didn't make it past Barafu without a glare. Poor Barafu couldn't convince anybody he wasn't a cheater after they figured out his favorite way of finding a hiding place.. which was to run as far away as possible and show up much later in the game.

Shaking his head, he turned around and smiled at Kafara.

"I don't know," he said, chuckling, "Do you think Barafu will stay nearby today?"

Feo walk walking by, since he didn't really have anything else to do. There were so many hunters in the pride that he usually only needed to hunt for himself, and his children were long gone. Or at least old enough to hunt by themselves. Jinamizi was always around, of course, but there were times when you wanted to be on your own. Or just hanging out elsewhere, to keep life interesting!

He had come across a game that was just getting underway, and he couldn't help himself. He had to go check it out. Feo was never a very srsface lion, and watching lions, and youngsters play, was exciting.

"Hey guys," he said, approaching. There were so many familiar faces, even if all he knew were names to faces. "Getting a game underway?"

"Maybe, but he's one of ours so losing him wouldn't be so bad," she laughed, daring to glance back over her shoulder before looking back to the direction she and Enzi were facing-- spotting Feo heading for them. She recognized him at once, too. He was one of Shomoro's sons, like Sharifu, who was a close friend of the family after he had joined some of the other boys when their sisters had gone missing. She couldn't think of his name, though.

"Hey," she greeted him brightly.

"Hide-and-seek," Enzi added matter-of-factly when Feo showed up. He recognized Feo too, though he couldn't quite spit out a name, feeling like it was on the tip of his tongue. There were just way too many names to remember around here.

"Can you see anybody sneaking off too far?" he asked, narrowing his eyes and glancing back-- but not actually moving his head. It wasn't cheating if they were talking to someone else who was facing the right way to see them go off, was it?

Feo's ears popped up at the question, and glanced around. It was a little difficult for him to see, since he hadn't been paying complete attention until they mentioned their game. "Hmmm," he said, peeking at the younger lions scrambling around to find a hiding spot. It was quite amusing, especially with one little cub.

"It looks like one is wandering a little far," Feo answered. "Though he's so big, I don't know what fun it would be to chase after him incase he feld from his hiding spot," the golden male laughed. He let his eyes avert in case someone noticed him looking; it wouldn't be very fair for the others to think he would cheat!

"One of yours, perhaps, going by colours." Mmm, he missed his kids. He let his eyes glance towards the ground, since it was probably time to count, wasn't it?

"Barafu!" Kafara breathed, shaking her head, immediately knowing who he was talking about. Of course he was wandering away from the rest. Even if they didn't go right for him, the others they found could help search-- but they always watched each other hide anyway. Pretending you didn't know where anybody was was usually half the fun.

"He's not helping his reputation," she commented.

"He's done it before," Enzi explained, shaking his head and smiling, "I think he just likes being difficult now." It was probably more fun than submitting to everybody telling you you had to stay nearby and play fair. And if everybody knew you went far, it was less tricky to go far. If he wanted to surprise anybody, he'd stay closer.

"Care to join us?" he asked, tilting his head at Feo.

Feo danced his front paws in laughter, keeping his chuckle as quiet as he could. Well, obviously it was, but then, that could be half the fun! "There's always a problem in any game, and it must be amusing if it's your own that's being a butthead," he laughed. His kids were mostly good, but there was always a time or two when they had gotten to be a little much.

"Sure, I'd love to join in if you don't mind," he said. "Just for refreshment's sake, I'm Feo." He didn't think he'd have to mention he was Shomoro's sun, since he had that same striking gold colour that she carried so brightly.

"I didn't see where they all went exactly to a t, at least, so this should be a little fun!" Certainly different from what he was used to doing every day. Even if being lazy was enjoyable.

"Feo! Right," Kafara repeated brightly once he introduced himself, feeling bad for not remember such a simple name, "I'm Kafara and this is Enzi." She beamed, pleased to have another addition to the game. It would be especially fun seeing how some of them reacted to someone they didn't know joining in. They were too used to crowds and vaguely familiar faces to get scared but it might startled some of them.

"That's fine," Enzi chuckled, grinning, "It's the one little one and six almost-little ones that you really want to look out for- did all six come to play with us?" He paused, resisting the urge to look back, looking to Kafara with a shrug. A bunch of them had come, that was good enough.

"Around six, anyway," he said, "They'll have the most fun."

Feo nodded. It was nice to have names, or more like confirming if he had a name right or not. It would be pretty embarrassing to call either one of them by the wrong name. "Around six?" Feo grinned. "Well, that might make finding everyone a little more difficult, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough if we've got them all or not.

He paused before nodding. "Want to search together as a group? Maybe give some of the better-hiders a bit of confidence until we find them." They might be easy to find following scent trails, but Feo liked to try and look by eyes. It would always make the game more fun to lurk around someone, acting like you didn't know that they were there until wam! You surprise them.

"You can get them all to introduce themselves as they're found," Kafara suggested with a smile. They barely seemed 100% sure of who had come to play, it would be pointless listing a bunch of names for Feo.

"That sounds good," she agreed, her ears turning back and listening for any sounds from slow-hiders. They sounded just about ready.

"We can definitely leave Barafu for last, we'll get everybody to gang up on him."

Enzi nodded at Kafara's idea. Barafu would get what he deserved, it would just be a pile of cousins on top of him. Nobody was ever sure if the last person was the winner or the loser anyway, if you cared to pick out who won it always seemed arbitrary. And like how you identified them changed every time.

"Do you suppose it's been long enough? I wasn't counting."
PostPosted: Wed Jun 23, 2010 9:36 am

Feo nodded. The younger ones would be harder to remember, at least initially, but over time he could probably remember their names. He wasn't over social, but sometimes it was nice to pass by someone and know their name. Having a general idea about their family was good, but in the Pridelands it easily got overly huge and complicated. Such a simple pride, with such large families.

"I'm ready to go whenever you guys are," he confirmed with a nod. He thought this would be a lot of fun, since youngsters usually liked to squeal when they had been caught. The young, and the young at heart.

"It's definitely been long enough," she agreed, her ears perking back up, "This was better than counting, now we have more help." She beamed. It might cause some trouble to anybody jumpy about calling out cheaters but it wasn't like hide-and-seek was a hard game.

"Alright!" Enzi beamed, "Let's go get 'em then." Wasting no time, he turned himself around, ready to start looking. This was always a lot of fun, it had to be his favorite thing to do.

Feo nodded, feeling the energy around him make him more excited about looking for the hiders. He was ready to go, and as they were, it was time to go look for them! This was going to be fun, even if he was giving the lead to Kafara and Enzi. It was them who set up the game, and he didn't mind. The best part was the reactions of those being found.
