Anyone who could/would teach Kidou in my squad is inactive. Not many members in Squad 13 actually know Kidou past the basic ones, and MockaDash most certainly doesn't have time to train me; his last post in this guild was June eighth, so any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

(Enter, Alder.)

The day was fairly sunny, as sunny as it normally got in the Soul Society. As Alder walked across the field where he and Captain Genji would be training, he noted several dummies. The dummies themselves were of no immediate concern, but it was their pattern that interested him. Unlike traditional dummies, which were lined up evenly, and in a perfectly straight line, these dummies were formed in a zig-zag; possibly to give accurate shooters different distances from which to fire kidou for their aiming. As soon as he got to the designated area, he performed the task that Genji had instructed. While he waited for the captain to arrive, he sat down, and focused his reiatsu to the degree that he already could, readying himself for the kidou training that would soon commence. Genji was fortunate that Alder was very patient; he'd wait here for a while if the need arose, and if the captain was busy, it wouldn't bother him too much. The eighth seat had been waiting for this training for quite some time-nearly six or seven months in the society-and a few extra hours of waiting wouldn't hurt him. As his reiatsu was focused and sharpened, he noticed sensations in his energies that he hadn't noted before. They were more vibrant, more powerful than the reiatsu sensations he'd once had; he was getting stronger as time passed, through his battles and trainings. It wasn't just him-his reiatsu was also toughening and increasing as well, preparing itself for battles that would need more Reiatsu than he could ever muster before. This change in levels was exactly what he needed to throw around Hadou and Bakudo much like the ones the Shinigami was about to learn.

The soft breeze gave a sweet stimulus to Genji Kazemaru's nervous frame. This was his first time Kido training someone since he had moved up to the position of captain of Squad 9, the first squad he entered when he became a Shinigami long ago. He thought of the sandals he had to fill. All of the past captains of Squad 9 had been amazingly skilled and powerful Shinigame, who were well-known and respected by many. And then... there was Genji. A thought that continuously haunted his mind at any time of the day, at any location, at any feeling, reared into the front of head of his head again. Am I worthy of being here? Genji stopped cold and looked up at the sky. In the clouds, he could see the faces of the captains that came before him. Those huge, puffy, gray faces looked down upon him with the winds making the them shake from side to side. Genji looked down at the ground and closed his eyes.

"Oh snap! Genji realized quickly that he was late to his Kido training session. He broke into Shunpo to make up the time he had wasted being hard on himself. This was so embarrassing. Not only was it his first time training someone since his promotion, it was with someone he didn't know, and he was already making a poor impression with his tardiness. He saw Adler head and ended the Shunpo to make a cool and calm appearance to look more collected and capable to his new student.

"Good morning, Alder-san," Genji said with a smile. "I am Genji Kazemaru, Captain of Squad 9 and your Kido instructor for the day. It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance." Genji bowed.

'He's pretty relaxed, even though he was late'. Alder thought to himself with a snicker as he addressed the captain. "No need to bow, I'm the Eighth Seat!" Alder said with a laugh as he bowed. "Of course, you're a new captain, I can see why you're still used to bowing; old habits die hard." He said with a grin, reading his reiatsu for the training ahead. "Now, I'd love to keep chatting like this, but the sooner I get these Kidou learned, the sooner I can return to my squad; I have things to take care of there that need to be addressed as quickly as possible." The Eighth Seat said with a determination not of his usual demeanor; he meant what he said, and he really did need to get back quickly. Alder would need to blast rapidly through the kidou in order to do this, but if push lead to shove, he'd topple the ifle tower if it meant shoving hard enough to meet his deadline.

(Sorry for the short post....I've got a lot to do, and not a lot of time to do it.)

((It's fine. I understand. smile ))

Genji was a little disappointed by the rush Alder was in to learn the Kido he had requested. Of course, he was a little worried that Alder would be applying that rush into his training, something that would make learning those Kido even more frustrating for him and actually be counter-productive. Hopefully, that wouldn't be the case, and Alder would take his time to concentrate on the spell and ignore conversation, which Genji was a little sad about since he liked to get to know his students and develop a friendship with them. Also, Genji wanted to teach Alder something more than just Kido, but that required getting to know him. Maybe, he could squeeze it into the training.

Genji took out his clipboard with his notes from his backpack along with a pen. "Let me see..." Genji said, looking over the forms. "You are from Squad 13. I don't believe that I have been around Squad 13 before, so I don't know much about it aside from the captain being a bit reclusive. I've never met him. Goodness." Genji blushed a little and moved his right hand to his cheek to hide it a little. "I'm a captain, and look at what I know. This is so embarrassing." To move the rug over that blemish, Genji went back to his notes. "You have your work cut out for you today. I do not know much about your ability, so I'll start slow today with Hado #11, which I usually start sessions with since it is pretty easy to learn and a good warm-up."

Genji reached over and grabbed his backpack, which contained some materials for the training session. From within the fabric bowels, Genji pulled out a teddy bear that wore a long string around its waist. Genji stared at it with a sad expression. "You know, when I learned Hado #11, we practiced on live rabbits. Can you believe that? I was beside myself. I can tell you that I was queasy for the rest of that training session. Luckily, I found a less disturbing way to teach this spell, but I'm still not sure that it won't tug the heart strings. Better than live rabbits though, wouldn't you say. Right then."

Genji stood up. The string was long enough for the bear to still be lying on the ground while Genji held the string up. "For this spell, you will learn to channel your reiatsu through an object. Keep your focus and make the reiatsu travel through the string and into the target. I'll demonstrate. Hado #11 Bound Lightning!"

The emerald green reiatsu that radiated around Genji's hand shout from Genji's hand through the string like electricity through power lines. The teddy bear convulsed violently when the electricity was fed into it. It exploded in a sudden burst of fluff.

"It's rather simple, Alder-san. If you need to try a couple of times to get it just right, I brought plenty of teddy bears for you to practice on. The workers at the store must think I'm off my trolley when they see me come into their story and stalk up on teddy bears." Genji laughed.

"Live rabbits, huh? After fighting a massive Hollow in Karakura Town, killing something like a rabbit isn't really my fancy anymore." Alder said with a chuckle. Though he was in a rush to get back to his squad, he did fully understand that, in learning Kidou, patience was a required practice. Only anger, frustration, and wasted time would follow if the practitioner displayed anything other than patience while practicing for Kidou, since a lot of them require exceptional control over one's Reiatsu and Kidou energies. Bearing these simple facts in his mind, he casually reached into the large sack of teddy bears. He pulled a light brown, sort of beige teddy bear from the bad, and set it down on the ground about five feet in front of him, taking his time so that he could remember just how Genji performed the technique. The usage was certainly interesting, and unlike anything Alder had seen before in a Kidou. "You know....I find it easier to contol my Reiatsu and Kidou energies when I'm in Shikai. However, I suppose it would be best if I learned how to use these kidou outside of Shikai, wouldn't it?" He asked quickly. The Eighth Seat's fingers began to crackle with the energy of the Kidou, "Hadou Number eleven....Bound Lightning!" The current shot from his fingers rapidly, traveling at great speed down the string, but, within four or five inches of the bear, Alder's control gave out, and the lightning fizzled away to nothing, leaving an untouched bear and burned string.

"I wonder if the reason I'm not performing the Kidou very well is because I'm not putting enough Reiatsu into the initial use...I've always been one to skimp out on putting enough energy into my attacks...." Alder said thoughtfully, recalling a previous spar with his captain, where a completely inadequate amount of Reiatsu in a single Byakurai had caused it to lose the speed and accuracy necessary to strike his captain. The Shinigami would have to break that tendency here and now if he wanted to perform these techniques the way they were meant to be performed. Once again, the Shinigami strolled over to the bag, picking up two bears this time. He'd made an error the first time; the bears were all the same color. Alder had thought himself interesting for pulling out a different colored bear....they were all the same! "Well.....time for my next attempt...." He muttered to himself. He seemed distracted, as if dwelling constantly on the usage and the application of the Kidou at hand. This was certainly a good trait, but he wouldn't be able to do this in the heat of battle, or he would be killed without much of a second chance from his foe. As soon as he set the bear on the ground, he moved back. This time, he didn't skimp out on Kidou, and put in the correct amount. This proved detrimental to the technique's success, and, once he had done so, chanted, "Hadou Number 11....Bound Lightning!" Now, the technique was successful; the current raced headstrong down the string, and the teddy bear exploded in a cloud of fluff much larger than Genji's. "Too much Reiatsu, but it worked....." Alder said, spitting chunks of fluff out of his mouth as he spoke.

((In loving memory of Jiraiya))

Genji snickered cutely at Alder's enthusiasm-induced antics. Alder did show so much zeal for every aspect of Shinigami combat, something which, ever since Genji became a Shinigami, was not found in Genji. No matter how much he tried to find that drive and lust for battle that so many in the Sereitei, such as Zaine, prided themselves on Genji just sat at a desk with a pencil or gave Kido demonstrations to others or practiced vigorously by himself without thinking of a potentional target to focus on as a goal. He barely graced the battle field; he haunted the training grounds and offices. An unexpecting expression visited his face, a frown. When Alder looked in his direction, he wore that frown briefly before quickling swapping it out for a smile.

"Good work, Alder-san," he said, smiling. "Though I do recommend practice on that one. It's quite embarrassing to get caught in your own smokescreen." Genji laughed. "Well, this next Kido is another favorite among those that favor stealth and acting like a cool ninja. It is a must for members of Squad 2 and Squad 3, both of which focus on stealth, speed, and quickness with a blade. Bakudo #26 is a fun spell to use and extremely useful not only to battle but also to escape from battle. Remember, not every spell I will teach you is intended only to use to cause harm. Safety and protection are more important when it comes to Kido, particularly Bakudo." Genji stopped and rubbed the back of his head awkwardly. "I'm terribly sorry. I rambled on quite a bit. I'll get started now. To start this one, you need to focus your reiatsu all over your body, not just at a specific point like most others. You must mold the reiatsu into a film that covers your body like a second skin." As Genji spoke these words, his body began to glow with spectacular, emerald reiatsu. His entire frame was glazed with his verdant polish. "Once you activate the spell, the reitsu bends the light and makes you invisible. Watch me... don't. Either way, you won't seem. "Genji winked. "Bakudo #26 Kyokko!" In flashing of light, Genji disappeared from sight entirely. He watched Alder with his hands clapped over his mouth to cap the laughter at the sight of Alder's bamboozlement. He had always had the habit of blowing his cover in hide-and-seek as a kid. To finish things quickly, he used Shunpo to appear behind Alder. After tapping Alder on the shoulder, he reappeared, smiling broadly.

"It works well, doesn't it?" Genji commented. "It is very popular. For some reason, it is more popular among boys than girls. I'm not sure why."

(Doing them both in one post to save time.)

"Oh, I do think I know why boys like it more....those boys are nothing short of perverts." Alder said with a snicker as he recalled the thin film Genji had placed on his body. It would most certainly be more difficult to place a light film of reiatsu over one's body than to focus it for a different Kidou, that's for sure. However, he wasn't about to give up. His first attempt resulted in him only being able to make his left hand vanish. This was because his left hand was the hand he normally performed Kidou with, and was his more focused hand. He would need to overcome that barrier as well if he wanted to really learn these Kidou. Alder attempted to cover the rest of his body in the film, and with a slight bit of concentration, his arm was covered. Thankfully, the goal was within sight; Alder could and would do this. "You know...." Alder said with a chuckle, "I might just scare Hinata with this Bakudou....it'd be great to visit her in Squad Ten again." He said with a snicker as he pushed the reiatsu further, still trying fervently to get this.

(1/2)

(I might have to make the second post shorter...I'm running with about four minutes left.)

Alder concentrated harder now, as it seemed like the longer it went on, the more fatigued he got. The Kidou itself was a draining progress, and Alder was getting extremely tired. The invisibility was past his head, and covering his entire torso; just the legs left. Once he learned to spread the invisibility to his whole body, he would probably be able to do it on a moment's notice, because then, he would know how to summon it at a moment's notice. After a little while, he was cloaked in invisibility. Now, he released the whole thing, and tried it head on. "Bakudo Number 26.....Kyokko!" He suddenly turned invisible, and came back immediately by his own will. "That was fun!" He said with a grin. "What's next?"

PostPosted: Thu Jun 24, 2010 10:14 pm

"Good work!" Genji chimed. "I know that it was hard, but you did great. However, I do not think it would be wise to use that spell for recreation. You may scare people, and that isn't a nice thing to do. I have been spooked by someone using that Kido many times, and I'm not one that likes those kind of surprises. Fortunately, I do not react with physical violence." A thought came to him. "I have heard of Shinigami, males, getting roughed up by woman for "spooking" them. It is very impolite to scare a lady... It is worse to do so while peeping." Genji giggled a little. He walked a few steps before stopping and stretching his arms and abdomen with a few twists. He had to get his reiatsu flow back again after such a long rest. That was necessary for the next Kido, which was a lot more difficult.

"I really hope that you don't get discouraged when practicing this spell," said Genji softly and kindly. "It is hard but a good follow-up to the last Kido. These one also requires the shaping of reiatsu to form a shield but in a different way. I hope you don't mind me changing up the order; I am trying out a different line-up to see if it works better for the students. Let's hope this is better. I have seen plenty of people break down because of the strain. I, too, had trouble with it. I know that I can be frustrating, but you can't let that block you. It can be done. Once mastered, Bakudo #39 will be fantastic tool in your arsenal. To me, it's like a more fantastical upgrade to Bakudo #8 Repulse. Not only is the shield it creates larger, it is far stronger too. If you master it to a high degree, you'll find that there is a lot it will negate. This one will take you're all: focus, form, concentration of reiatsu, and stamina. Watch me."

Genji's eyes shined with the green found in the gorgeous flora in the mystical forests of fairytales. That same emerald radiance resonated around his body, casting the verdant light onto Alder's astonished face. Genji moved his hands before him.

"Bakudo #39 Arc Shield!"

A mist of reiatsu flowed from Genji's hands and rapidly condenced in front of him into a magnicent, translucent shield if refulgent green that extended to protect his whole body. Genji held it for a few seconds before letting it fade. He breathed calmly.

"Be careful, Alder-san. If you need to rest while practicing this Kido, by all means, please do. Practicing this one for a long period of time will exhaust beginner easily. It will take time and patients. Just know, that once you know it, you will really tick off a bunch of Arrancar with it." Genji smiled sweetly.

"It may not just be Arrancar that I frustrate with this move. You never know, I could use it against some fellow Shinigami's Kidou, and hopefully pull through. This was one of the ones I especially wanted to learn, because it means that I have a more powerful way of defending myself besides the lower level Bakudo." Alder, once again, recollected what he had seen when Genji performed the Bakudo. Obviously, it took a great deal more concentration than the average Kidou, and he'd need to keep that in mind if the Eighth Seat were ever to succeed in performing this particular technique. After he'd observed it enough, he rose his left palm, and chanted softly, "Bakudo Number 39...Enkosen." At first, nothing happened. However, a mist very slowly began to form. When it seemed like it was working, however, the entire kidou vanished without a trace; there had been an odd fluctuation in Alder's Kidou control, and he'd failed to stop it before it intervened with the current Kidou he'd been attempting to cast, ultimately canceling the Kidou entirely.

(1/2)

With a bit more time, he found that the fluctuation was proving more difficult than he thought. The young Shinigami also discovered that, compared to the other Kidou he'd been learning, this one took a lot more energy, and he was beginning to feel the strain of constantly practicing it. "This Bakudo really is something...." Alder said with a chuckle, sitting down to rest for a little while. "I'm feeling the effects of overusing it to a small degree, most definitely.....Hopefully, I don't faint or anything like that!" The Eighth Seat merely laughed as he lay down on the-oddly-welcoming grass for a brief spell, allowing his body to cool down for a while before he resumed what seemed to be his toughest training yet. Within fifteen minutes, he was up and going again, firing away at the spell until he had it. Thankfully, he wouldn't have to wait long. At the peak of his last attempt, he finally halted the fluctuation, and the Kidou proceeded as Alder had wanted it to. Suddenly, the shield formed perfectly in front of him, and he could feel the sturdiness behind it without even touching the shield itself. "Well.....this is certainly something." He chuckled, waiting for the next Kidou.

PostPosted: Sat Jun 26, 2010 12:18 pm

Genji was happy that this new training order had worked well. He was unsure at first, but this was promising. Suddenly, he felt more confident about some of his other plans for his squad. Confidence... it was a strange feeling, a good one. "Well then, onward to the next Kido. This one is a lot more challenging by far. It will make you utilize reiatsu control, speed, and correct form all at the same time. Bakudo #30 is one that bamboozles a lot of people. You need to focus a good amount of reiatsu into your finger tip and then form a triangle in the air, leaving streams of reiatsu that connect at the corners. Those streams of reitsu don't last long, so you need to be quick at forming the triangle. However, you must make sure that it comes out looking like a triangle. I've seen a lot of reiatsu scribbles. Those don't quite work. Allow me to demonstrate."

Genji faced a large boulder. He closed his eyes and let his body relax and allowed the reiatsu to flow smoothly through him. Sparkles of emerald glistened around him. The tip of his right index finger was especially radiant.

"Bakudo #30 Shitotsu Sansen!"

Genji hand whipped so quickly that the trianlge appeared in the blink of an eye. Energy daggers appeared at the corners. With a push, the triangle went screaming into the boulder. The three piercing points sent out cracks through out the rock and brought it to crumble.

"It is harder than it looks," said Genji with a light smile. "Trust me. I had to practice this one a lot before it came out as well as it did just now. Don't get frustrated. Take your time and rest if you need it."

"Well....this looks interesting, to say the least." Alder said with a light chuckle. As if he followed the same pattern for each Kidou Genji showed him, he once again recollected on what he'd seen when Genji utilized the Kidou. Obviously, it took a lot of work to concentrate enough Reiatsu to use a level thirty Kidou in one's fingertip, but that was probably the easy part for a technique like this. When Alder tried it, the purple color of his reiatsu made the tip of his finger glow a dark purple color for only a moment before vanishing suddenly. However, the more he practiced, the longer he could sustain that purple tipped glow, which he would ultimately need more than all else to use Shitotsu Sansen. His first attempt went badly, to say the least; he made an involuntary movement with his finger, causing a small semicircle in the middle of the triangle, dooming the Kidou to failure from the very beginning. Only one of the daggers formed, and it was extremely small, even further mocking his attempts.

(1/2)

The Eighth Seat continued with complete faith in his abilities, and eventually completed a perfect triangle. Now, the real problem was in making the daggers form, and making them fire in a rapid series of Reiatsu control and intricate movements. He went over forming the triangle countless times, and he could eventually form it in about a third of the time Genji could, which was still fast for someone of his level. He could make the triangle for the Bakudou itself in about a second without pause, so he felt accomplished there. Now, as Alder put more Reiatsu into the triangle, the daggers began to form; his old problem of skimping out on reiatsu had come back to haunt him once again, and this time, it was a seriously high amount of energy. The Eighth Seat pushed in a bit more, and the daggers formed as completely as they had with Genji's original use. Now, all he needed to do was put in enough to make the triangle of energy shoot out at a high velocity, allowing it to impale the next boulder. With one last push, Alder formed the triangle with the daggers, and fired it at high speed in less than two seconds, forcing the boulder next to Genji's to fall with the same result.

Genji looked at the remains of the shattered rock, grinning. "Not perfect but it is still pretty good for a start. You need practice. I highly doubt that you will have any trouble with these next three spells," said Genji confidently. "We will focus on projectile Hado, a contrast from the Bakudo I have been teaching you today. All three are very similar in execuation and close together in number, so I like to consider them to be three brothers. Once you get the first one under the belt, the following two aren't that hard to grasp. I often save the Hado for last because... well... Save the best for last, I think." He snickered. "Remember the procedure used for Hado #4. The execution is very similar, but instead of channeling reiatsu into your fingers, you most send it into your palm. That causes problems for some people since it is easier to control the reiatsu through the finer tips of the fingers, but it won't cause problems for you. Watch me do it."

Genji eyed one of the targets. His shining emerald reiatsu radiated around him. He forced his right arm out and held it steady at the elbow with his left hand, almost like aiming a gun. "Hado #31 Shakkaho!" A bright ball of vermillion energy appeared in Genji's palm and grew larger as it left his hand. The ball smashed into the target and created an explosion. Genji turned to Kasen and smiled. "Now it's your turn."

(And the last two are one post, since the concept is the same? *Crosses Fingers* XD)

"Ooooh...." Alder said with a laugh as Genji fired the Kidou. "Oh yes....I was most certainly looking forward to the Hadou part of this lesson. Since Captain Mock used Sokatsuki around me for the first time, I've always wanted to learn these attacks. They fascinate me....maybe someday, I'll be able to learn the Thunder Roar Cannon....." He said, temporarily zoning out on the though of learning his favorite Hadou. "My favorite Bakudo is Danku, Number eighty one. I never thought that a simple shield like that could be so strong, and it makes me want to learn the technique desperately." Now, the Eighth Seat's mind shifted to learning Shakkaho, since that was what he was currently assigned. He'd learned the incantation for the spell on his own some time ago-he'd surprise Genji with his knowledge of the incantation before the captain taught it to him. Thankfully, he'd mastered Sokatsui's as well, so that would save him valuable time when it came down to it. Alder had the sensational feelings as the Reiatsu traveled to his palm instead of to his fingertips....it felt so much more powerful....so amazing. "Hadou Number Thirty One.....Shakkaho!"

(1/2)

The first attempt wasn't BAD.....but it was by no means good, either. The sphere of Reiatsu shot only about two feet away from Alder when it fizzled into nothingness in front of him. This time, he tried it again, realizing that his flaw was the incorrect amount of Reiatsu-AGAIN-the Eighth Seat seemed lacking in that department, mostly due to the fact that he had always been conservative of his energy, which allowed him to fight for long periods of time. Because of this, he'd most likely not use high level Kidou very much until he really go the hang of them. This time, he threw in the incantation for theatrics, and used the correct amount of Reiatsu. "Ye lord! Mask of blood and flesh, all creation, flutter of wings, ye who bears the name of Man! Inferno and pandemonium, the sea barrier surges, march on to the south! Hadou Number Thirty One, SHAKKAHO!" He yelled. Because he'd used the incantation, his sphere was stronger than even Genji's. It soared straight into another boulder, and a violent explosion turned the rock into little more than dust.
