Arius had wound up alone today. It wasn't something that he liked very much, sharing his guardian's affinity for nearness, people, touch and just the hubbub that was humanity's throngs. He'd had an early shift this morning at the cafe, and had assumed that that left his afternoon open to do things with his friends...but despite multiple messages and calls, all of them had bailed. It wasn't anything personal, mostly conflicts of schedule, but it still left the Mad Love Scent entirely forlorn.
Still in his work uniform, which consisted of black pants, a white button-up shirt (rolled up to his elbows), and a black vest...the crowning touch an apron which was currently tossed over his shoulder, the teenager had decided not to go all the way home (which meant dealing with family, most notable Rhiloss, who had been strange lately), and had instead crashed on a park bench that was conveniently located in the shade. Almost pouting, he dug into his pockets for the crumbs of the cookies he'd eaten at lunch. As with most city parks, the place was crawling with pigeons, one or two of which were eyeing him in hopes of a prospective meal. "Well I'm never one to disappoint an admirer..." He murmured, tossing out a few of those crumbs onto the path and watching the flurry of wings that ensued to a chorus of delighted coos. At least someone was happy to see him today.

Hopping a small crack between the pieces of cement that made up the curving path through the park, Jessika found herself entertained by the simple pleasure of listening to the click of her Mary-Jane's on the hard ground. With a soft giggle she scurried towards the next small divide in the path, hopping over that one as well, her ringlets bouncing slightly with the motion.
After hopping a few more of the breaks, she began to grow slightly bored of the activity and glanced around herself for something new to entertain herself with, her red eyes stopping as she watched a young man throw out something to a flock of eagerly awaiting birds. Moving closer, she watched in innocent fascination as the small animals dived forward in obvious excitement at whatever the boy had thrown them. Small hands smoothed down her skirt as she crouched down to get a better look.

In a moment of inattention, Arius didn't notice the child until she was almost upon him...now usually he was good at getting the drop on people, and was known for being particularly observant when it concerned the human population. Heh. Not today apparently. It really just wasn't his day. With a small grin, he tossed a few of the crumbs just inches away from the small girl's skirts, so that the birds would hop nearer to her in their quest for sustenance, but not so close that they would accidentally alarm her. Arius, after all, always wanted to make the ladies happy, even if they were just children, and children were a whooole different ball game than lassies his own age.
Cupping the remainder of the crumbs in his hand, he lifted crimson eyes to observe her...she smelled...quite nice, and taking a subtle sniff, he caught the almost overwhelmingly delightful scent of strawberry. Hmm...well... Picking up a few of his cookie-bits, he held them out to her. "Would you like to try?" Arius himself well-remembered being that small, and all the wondrous trouble he'd gotten himself into (not that that had changed, it was merely a different kind of trouble now. "They're pretty friendly, so you can do everything but pick them up if you have a few nibbles for them..."
