User ImageArius had no idea how he was going to keep this up. Whilst he had a perfectly legitimate job at the little cafe (the very same one he'd escorted Anbu too not a week or so ago) down the street, well, honestly, it was boring. Boring and easy and the same sort of work that Farlest had him do around the house, well...there were a few more babes involved, but he didn't dare ask for their numbers (be they male or female) or risk getting his a** canned by his manager, who though nice, was a strict enough woman who wanted to see her business succeed. So he couldn't really blame her. It had actually been in talking to Ka'hmesh that Ari had gotten the bright idea for a second job...and as it turned out, he'd been a shoe-in for this line of work. Only having agreed to work for a couple hours a week at a particular...club, one that did NOT happen to be the one that Ka was bouncer at (that would have sucked royally), Ari couldn't help but admit that he liked the sensuous combination of effects that was stripping in front of a crowd. And all of his coworkers, gay, straight and otherwise, had commented on just how good he happened to smell, even after a full routine.

Sneaking out of the house, however, was the bigger trick. He'd made excuses about going over to buddies' houses thus far, or being nice enough to let Far and Ka have a 'date night' and depositing Rhiloss at the babysitter's for the evening. That was the plan today, but he'd had to leave a couple of hours early so that his story continued to match up. Now, making his way past his Ada in leather pants and bondage boots was one thing...but the rather skimpy and insinuative upper-wear meant that cover-up was essential. So he'd donned a thigh-length, double-breasted black trenchcoat in a rather fashionable style, and a tasteful silver cross on a chain hung in the V of the collar to tug attention away from the fact that beneath the coat he was all but bare-chested. He'd even failed to tie his hair back tonight, for some reason, the ladies liked it down. That and the red streaks in his hair were getting wider and more noticable as he got older, a fact that he rather liked, to be honest.

The sun was just starting to set, casting odd shadows as he made his way through the more mediocre part of town, past the little shops and businesses, headed towards the strip of clubs and taverns...luckily the more upscale stuff. He wanted the sort of place that if Far DID catch him, Ari wouldn't be castrated for it. He'd rather keep all his bits together, thank you just the same. Having a bit of time to burn before he actually arrived at his workplace, he paused by one of the windows, an antique and curio shop that happened to have a few of the more elaborate decorative objects advertised behind the plate glass. Perhaps he'd have to buy something nice for Anbu sometime...something bright and carnival themed, perhaps, if he was lucky, with that mischievous twist that they both loved so much. Ari couldn't lie, for as hectic and chaotic as his life was, he loved it. At least when the risks didn't come to bite him in the a**.

Ment was actually on his way back from a restaurant around the area when he turned onto the street Arius was walking up. He had gone out to eat by himself that evening. Usually he would eat at home with Olivia, but Adrian had been joining them to eat the last couple of days and he couldn't bear to be around him at the moment. It wasn't that Adrian had said anything to him, on the contrary, he hadn't said a word, it was just Ment was still feeling incredibly awkward about the whole situation.

Ment walked down the road carefully, still not very used to the heels he had decided to buy and wear. That was actually one thing that he didn't normally wear. Heels weren't exactly compliant with the cobblestone road by the shop, and when the majority of his friends were children, well, running in them was absolutely impossible. He had to say though, these heels were something. They made him feel giddy on the inside when the clacked against the road, making the men nearby look over thinking they heard a woman. Granted he did look like one a lot of the time, making it both exciting and awkward depending on the situation.

The white haired teenager saw someone down the road looking into one of the shops and quirked his head to the side for a moment. The guy looked familiar, at least slightly familiar to him. Ment decided to get a closer look and walked up behind him, his heels clacking against the ground as he approached. Ment noted the trench coat, feeling a little disappointed as he noticed it was covering the guy's a**. at least he had nice legs.

It was naturally the crisp click of heels that caught his attention, and blinking at the reflection in the plate glass, he then slowly turned with a familiar, all-too-delighted grin on his face. This was a person that he knew, after all...and though he'd only seen Ment as a teenager once to his knowledge, despite more than one run-in as children, well....he was fond of the other, and Arius never forgot someone that he considered that attractive after all. It was a specialty of his. Brushing dark hair back over one shoulder and out of his eyes, it was clear that Arius was absolutely delighted to see the other scent. "Ment!" ...hey whoa...

He took a moment to step back and scan the other's outfit...oh he wasn't going crazy, he HAD heard heels. Mmm. Damn but that boy had grown up pretty! Oh yes, honey, Arius had most definitely missed seeing Ment, note to self, he was going to have to be checking up on this kid a lot more often. The raven-haired scent already considered Ment, well...something of a friend, just one he didn't see very often and happened to have particularly fond memories of. It was so time to make some more memories, and if Ment was half so fun to hang out with as he'd been in the past, Ari had the distinct feeling that he wouldn't be sorry. "What's going on? I haven't seen you in forever! And if I may say so, you're a sight for sore eyes..." His gaze had come absolutely alight with glee, and his temptation to pull the other into a hug was almost overwhelming. Arius had never been more grateful to himself for primping beforehand...ever. Who knew, after all, when an adorable old friend would come waltzing out of the afternoon shadows?

Ment had to do a double-take as the man before him addressed him specifically by name. Taking a closer look, Ment gasped as he recognized who the person was before him. His eyes lit up as he looked into those of the teen across from him, "Arius!? I can't believe this! It's really you!"

Ment hadn't seen Arius in a very long time, not since before Amryx's passing now that he thought about it; maybe even longer. He couldn't honestly recall whether or not this was the first time he had seen Arius as a teenager. He was slightly taken aback by Arius's appearance now. It was obvious he was no longer the apple cheeked little boy he ran around playing with, he was a damn fine looking man with absolutely stunning hair.

"You look great! We're you heading?" Ment asked, as he took a step back to look Arius up and down.

He spread his arms at that, rather displaying himself as he naturally did, being of a distinctly showy personality. "In the flesh!" He replied with a chuckle, deliciously pleased at how ecstatic Ment seemed at seeing him. Well that delight was obviously mutual, ladies and gentlemen. Oh he just had to see what the other Scent was up to these days...and if Arius could insert himself into that schedule. For all the people he knew, Arius had been painfully homebound lately. That was going to change...it had started with Anbu, but he didn't at all mind if Ment was the continuation.

Letting the other teen's appearance soak in in his own right, he sighed almost wistfully, damn but he'd missed a lot, shame on himself, really, for not hanging around Ment more as he'd developed, though not all that was Ari's fault. "You look rather wonderful yourself..." Oh he tried not to purr, but there was definitely a sensuous undertone to the words, a not-quite flirting in the way he both carried himself and the conversation towards the other. Nnngh. Stop thinking that waaaay, childhood friend, he had to behave....friend first...That was how he'd already prioritized it, if he was friend to someone, that came before anything else, even if he did have a wondrous attraction to them. And he'd been friends with Ment way back when they were clinging to the hands of their mommies.

Glancing down, he tugged idly at his trenchcoat, straightening it out, "Ah, I was actually headed to work. Late shift. I'm actually a couple of hours early." A cheeky smirk twisted Arius' lips, "I had to drop off my little brother off at his babysitter's, so I've some time to burn. You?" Because he would spend that extra time with Ment in a heartbeat if given the opportunity.
PostPosted: Tue Jun 22, 2010 9:24 pm

Ment giggled girlishly at Arius's compliment, giving the teenage Scent a smile as he put on a brief pose in return. Ment hadn't felt this pretty since the last time he saw Polly. Polly, oh how that was awkward. All he really could remember of that encounter was Polly's lips meshing with his own and how the pit of his stomach felt both like he was going to hurl, and as if what he was doing had quickly become a taboo. It was his best friend after all...or he was at least. He hadn't seen him in some time.

Shaking his head furiously to get the thought out of his mind, Ment went back to focusing his attention on Arius, something he was sure the teen Scent before him would always appreciate. Ment was surprised to hear that Arius had a job, well, actuallly that wasn't true. He was really mostly surprised that Arius would agree to take on a night time job. Ment would never take a night time job, even if it was in the better part of Cyrus City. He would be afraid of the drunks that would possibly assault him as he walked around. Granted that would be an easy fix if he'd stop dressing like a woman, but he wasn't doing that anytime soon.

"I was on my way home from a restaurant, but I don't really have to head home yet. You wanna hang out for a little while? It'd be nice to catch up," Ment said with a smile, "Besides, we could split the dessert I bought."

It was probably a lucky thing that the two of them didn't know about one another's exploits just yet, as it would probably give them something to talk over in the future, and that, at least in the case of Arius, was a very long conversation. Plowing through the teenage stage was proving to be an interesting trek for Arius...and only just now, despite his flippant and devil-may-care nature was he starting to wonder about the more serious aspects of life. However, they could totally wait in favor of the absolutely lovely picture of minty-scented goodness that had appeared before him. Gods...remind him again just why he hadn't been actively seeking Ment's company?

Giving himself a mental pat on the back for taking this job to begin with, as he would never have bumped into the other Scent like this had he not decided, on complete impulse, to drape himself about a stripper pole a couple nights a week. And he was damned good at it too, even if he did say so himself....which he did. Honestly he did wonder about Ment trotting around like this...all dressed up in a skirt and the like...and the sun was going to set quite shortly. Heh, the other could probably use an escort for good measure, and Arius would not mind at all running around with the other on his arm. Perhaps if they got along half so well as he recalled, then Arius could score a date with Ment sometime, which would make the Mad Love Scent supremely happy. Ment, after all, was one of the three people that Arius considered the elite of his acquaintances.

That smile fluttering over his expression when Ment was the one to suggest hanging out first (something that had been on the tip of the dark-haired Scent's tongue), and he nodded with not a little enthusiasm. "I'd love to...I've been chastising myself of late that I hadn't had a chance to see you. And since I've a couple hours and absolutely nothing else to do...you're effortlessly my top priority..." That smile widened winningly, and he turned, gesturing down the street. "There's a little set of tables and chairs outside one of the diners down the road if you wanted to sit. The place closes early, and m'pretty sure they don't pack up the furniture afterwards." And to be honest, he'd like to talk someplace that wasn't crowded and noisy, giving Ment his full attention, as he would to any of those people that he considered near and dear.

"Oooo," Ment mused, the sound of a little outdoor set-up looking cute in his head. It was like one of those scenes from the cheesy romance novels Olivia read, or a setting from one of the plays Ment was recently too. With the excitement welling, Ment held his arms behind his back and let a smile spread across his face, "Lead the way, Arius."

Although he'd been all but smacking himself about the ears for it the entire duration of their interaction, it truthfully was terribly hard to behave when his friend was being so very adorable. Twas bad enough that he'd been teased once or twice for having a damn shota complex anyway, not that he'd do anything illegal, god, he wasn't that bad...well, not beyond a wee pinch of underage drinking bad anyway. Dipping his head, he resisted offering his arm to Ment...telling himself it was a bit too early in this to make intentions quite that blatant. "Sure thing..." So trotting on down the pavement, he was glad to find that his memory had been correct.

There was a nice little spread of ornamental chairs and tables, including one very handy wrought-iron bench just under a tree that looked quite lonely hedged in by the pavement. Thinking to keep it company, and heck...benches were good for all manner of coziness, he gestured towards it and ambled off that way, perching on one side and leaning back with a soft squeak of form-fitting leather, crimson eyes flitting up to the tree's branches. "We're lucky the night's so mild too, the weather's been damn unpredictable..." There was a bit of a breeze that kept whisking bits of his hair upwards, but not so terribly that he could taste them just yet, that was one thing that was a b***h about wearing his hair down.

Slowly, his eyes slid over to Ment, affixing to him and not bothering at all to mask what he was doing, patting the spot next to him so that his companion would sit, preferably close. "So...how are you? I want to know everything...we haven't had a chance to talk in damn near forever, makes me really sad. What with all the fuss that's gone on, well...it's nice to see you again, know you're ok." It was quite true that he worried desperately about his friends, as he tended to make his connections with people nigh- on instantaneously, getting a 'feel' for them that left a lingering impression. He couldn't help himself, a chronic, wind-swept romantic.

Ment was pleasantly surprised at the location in which Arius had lead him to. It reminded him of postcards in some of the local shops of foreign cities he longed to go to, but knew in the back of his mind he may never see. It was nice having places like that within Cyrus, what with the rampant poverty and crime throughout the city, having a small area that feels like an escape was a blessing of sorts and he hoped that those struggling with the economy and their own fortunes would not ruin it.

"Yes it has," Ment commented, following after Arius towards the wrought-iron bench he had motioned to. Olivia had been wanting a bench like this for the front of the shop, right under the big display window, but lately the weather had not been their friend, keeping her from being able to do so. "Olivia and I have had to close the shop quite a bit recently because of the heat and humidity. It's left us a little strapped for cash, heh."

Ment wouldn't admit to Arius that because of having to close down so frequently because of the heat, that their 'strapped for cash' was actually 'we got our water turned off the other week and had to borrow money from Moanna's mother to get it turned back on for the next few weeks'; that was far too embarrassing for the Scent.

Arius had seated himself on the bench as Ment had responded, patting a place next to him when Ment was finished speaking. It didn't take any time for Ment to sit next to him, though it wasn't quite as close as Arius had intended, after all, Ment had said he'd share his desert with the red and black haired teen, so if he's sitting way too close it'd make it difficult for him to pull out the desert and offer him any.

"I feel quite a bit the same," The peppermint Scent responded, offering his childhood friend a nice big grin. That's one thing about Ment that never ended up changing, his smile. When he gave someone a smile, he gave someone a smile, ear to ear freckles and blush included. "I'm doing as well as can be expected. Life's a little odd for the moment, what with 'Livia's friend's daughter living with us to help with the shop, and Adrian only coming out at night like he's some sort of vampire, but we deal."

Grabbing open his bag from the resturaunt he had been to, Ment pulled out the take home desert he had ordered and popped the lid open. It was an interesting 3-layered peanut butter pie slice sitting inside the container, "I hope you don't mind sharing a fork, heh. I didn't expect to be running into an old friend and only requested one, but anyway- How've you been doing? You look like you're doing really well."

Wincing at Ment's description of their financial situation, he nodded in a rather sympathetic manner. "Yeah, I know they've cut Ada's hours a bit, even the cafe I'm staffing has had to run themselves short-handed in order to save on funds. I'm lucky they like me enough to keep me around. I'm sorry to hear you guys've been having trouble, though with all the kids that pop out of oil burners it's a wonder no one's come begging for child support yet." Though that was entirely in jest, it was also one of his own worries. He was careful, but he hadn't the faintest idea whether or not he could sire offspring with well...normal folks. If he managed to make babies Far would really throw a hissy, and Ka would likely kill him. For real this time.

"If you guys need any help, lemme know, kay? I don't mind being of assistance if I can. And you're my friend, after all, so I want to." After all, if he wasn't doing something, Arius became bored in a terrifyingly short amount of time...and if he could be useful in addition to occupied, all the better. Especially if it was an excuse to hang around a cutie like Ment. Speaking of said current interest, he leaned back on the bench, bracing his hands behind him, one of them so near to the pale-haired Scent that he could have touched the edges of his skirt.

"Ffft. Well Adrian's a sourpuss." He muttered dismissively, that having been his one and only (and forever standing) opinion of the other in the very brief encounters they'd had with one another. "Sounds like your house is as crowded as mine. Though since we have three different sets of incomes right now we're managing. The parental units still don't want Rhiloss to get a job juuust yet, he's still a bit young and amaaaazingly irresponsible." Arius rolled his eyes in a rather melodramatic fashion. Seriously. He'd found the kid chewing on his boots the other day.

Forgetting his initial aim of creeping closer to Ment's delectable, skirted bum, he shifted forward, resting a hand on his leather-clad knee to feast his eyes on the treat that Ment was currently in possession of. Oooh. Peanut butter...already he could feel his taste buds tingling. And sharing silverware now were they? Well, plasticware, but who was counting? Arius had shared far less innocent articles with people that he did not trust half so well as the peppermint-scented teen at his side, and with a shrug of his shoulders, he dismissed any worries, "Eh, nah. It's fine. I don't mind sharing. Not at all." That last sentence was perhaps a touch too innocent, something impish lurking in crimson depths.
PostPosted: Sat Aug 28, 2010 6:43 pm

Ment couldn't help but offer a laugh at Arius's comment. It was true, though. He was surprised that the people who did find children in place of broken oil burners hadn't come marching back demanding some sort of payment to care for the child, or try and return it. Olivia had made sure after the first few instances of people bringing children to her, claiming they had sprouted from her oils, that there was now a sign in the front window stating that she gave no refunds for purchases regardless of what state they happened to be in. He was sure several people had been a bit miffed at this realization, but there wasn't exactly anything they could do about it within the law.

"I appreciate that, Arius. I really do," Ment commented, a blush spreading across his already red freckled cheeks.

Picking up the fork that came along with his to-go desert, he dug it into the peanut butter pie, picking up a small piece of it and offering it to Arius innocently. He didn't mind sharing his desert with his friend, or even in such an intimate form such as this. To him he was sharing something with someone he considered a good friend of his, even if they hadn't been able to see each other in some time.

"Adrian, well... Things are hard for him lately," Ment stated quietly, not recalling whether or not Arius had been there the night that Adrian's mother had died. That day was a blur for Ment now, his mind trying its best to repress the events of that day. Although, no matter how much it tried it still wandered back to that time in his dreams and he'd find himself waking up abruptly to the sound of Olivia shrieking and sobbing in his head.

"Yeah, the house is pretty crowded, heh. How... How is Rhiloss?" Ment asked, mostly out of politeness, though he truly did not care for him. There was something about that kid that felt like a bad omen of sorts to him. Every time he laid eyes on him a chill went down his spine. "Your parents alright as well?"

Ah hell, he had to stop doing that. When Ment's cheeks reddened, Arius felt almost predatory. It was a difficult realization that the other Scent was technically older than he was, as it felt quite the opposite. The slight male was everything that the dark-haired teen was weak against, and it rather made him want to scoop him up and carry him off to do naughty things to, the sort of shenanigans that couldn't be spoken about in polite conversation. Not that Ari wasn't well-versed in suchly, quite to the contrary. He reveled in being complimented in such skills, he just really shouldn't be thinking about his childhood friend that way. It had been a scourge lately, these peculiar reawakenings of feelings that had once been childish. Hell, they certainly weren't very childish now.

Observing as the fork came his way, Ari grinned slyly and wrapped his fingers gently about Ment's wrist, guiding the whole ensemble towards his lips, where he made off with the morsel of pie, licking his lips in pleasure. "Damn that's good...where'd you get this?" It was almost a purr, spending a moment to savor the rich flavor. It had been forever since he'd had a treat like this, as his family always managed to serve the best desserts when he was off and away, either at work or out with a buddy or two. Oh he had missed the rush of wicked indulgence, and peanut butter was assuredly a lovely way to go. A cleverly disguised unhealthy delicacy. Though Ment was the delicacy he'd prefer to suck on, thank you just the same.

Frowning slightly as Adrian was further mentioned, he simply nodded, remembering full well the grand upheaval that had actually given a cause for the other scent's copious emo. Rhiloss was a far more comfortable topic than the broody scentling. "Rhiloss is...well...typical for him. Which means I've no bloody clue what's going on in his head and he chews on my things and otherwise gives me hell. Not a bad kid, but...irritating as all get-out." Sighing, he shook his head. "Beyond both Rhil and I being epic terrors, they're doing all right. With me working, I'm not in Far's hair anymore and they get more time alone, especially if I take Rhiloss out or drop him off at a friend's house. Which I do. A lot." Emphasis on a lot.
PostPosted: Tue Sep 21, 2010 7:20 pm

Ment's eyes widened quite dramatically like a deer caught in headlights, or a dog anticipating its favorite treat. He was certainly surprised by Arius's actions and he previously blush stained cheeks turned into orbs of pure red, completely obscuring his crimson flecks of freckles. He couldn't stop his heart from racing in his chest as he knew that the actions of his childhood friend were from the childish persuasion.

He was used to seeing displays of this out on the street while he was out and about and had read them in a couple of Olivia's romance novels (which, unfortunate as it were, did little for him). He didn't think he'd ever be on the receiving end of them and the sudden attention came as a mild shock to him, to say the least. Once Arius spoke to him again he managed to figuratively shake his head and come back to his sense.

"Oh! Uhm, I, uh..." Ment was so elegant. He may have been able to regain his senses, but it didn't help protect him from becoming tongue tied as he giggled a little like a ditz.

As Arius continued to answer Ment's other inquiries he tried his best to make his brain listen and nod in the appropriate places, but he was having trouble. He was still trying to come up with the name of the restaurant he had been at for Arius as well as trying to push the thought of his childhood friend flirting with him out of him mind. He was having a harder time with the latter than the former, when it finally hit him the name of the restaurant.

"Trois Saveurs! The name of the resturaunt is Trois Saveurs!" Ment said with a chipper tone, noticing he had perked up with his comment rather loudly, only making him blush once more.

With the other making this entire operation so terribly effortless on Arius' part, it made him feel as though he was a terrible pervert. Wait, hold that thought, he'd been wicked-minded since he could honestly remember. But at least when he did it, he did it right. Mind, getting entangled with Ment could be such a very very bad idea. And honestly, he wasn't entirely certain that Olivia couldn't end his existence if she so chose...and Ari had no particular desire to be ended, but he most assuredly had a desire to get all nice and cozy with the peppermint-scented male at his side. And wish B was most certainly worth risk A. And Farlest had said that he should stop bringing by a different girl (or boy) every night when he came in for dinner and settle down into erm...something for a while. Relationship was such a loose term where Arius was concerned.

But that aside he wouldn't mind having Ment over for dinner...and dessert. A playful little smirk tugged at the edges of the taller teen's lips and he released the other Scent's hand from his grasp. Good gods, but he had some sort of chronic cute complex. It really was going to get him into trouble after all. Naturally he wouldn't at all mind being neck-deep in Ment's brand of trouble. Ack! He had to get his brain to stop making up a plethora of innuendos, and all of them cheesy.

This was different, after all. And so, thrusting as much sincerity as he could into red eyes, he focused them on the other and nodded pleasantly. "Trois Saveurs..." French, a language he had at least a little familiarity with. "Three flavors." He laughed softly, "Just like we have here, you, me, and the pie..." And the lithe teen was selfish enough to want a sample platter. Honestly now he was just biding his time, waiting to take advantage of the way that he'd so obviously flustered Ment. His cheeks were almost the same color as his freckles by this point...and Arius was by now wondering when the last time he'd blushed had been, oh dear, eons ago. "You're going to have to let me take you there sometime, so I can return the treat." Though the treat didn't necessarily have to be pie.
