"It doesn't make any sense. You know what, you don't make any sense, you're a walking furball of contradictions," Aki said agitatedly as she walked alongside the goddess.

"I don't care, it's more interesting than walking around looking for some random mortal and expecting them to be half as fascinating. You can quit your complaining, or you can keep it and head off for the day," Din said to the black maned wolf who walked beside her. Aki made her choice perfectly clear when she turned instantaneously and started heading off. "Sounds good, catch up with you later!" she called flatly, barely bothering to turn her head towards the wolf.

She then turned her head back to where she was headed. Blowing a blue strand of bang out of her face, she picked up the pace- headed to where she had run into Fleance the other day. What was driving her? More precisely, what was wrong with her? I'm not too attached, she insisted to herself mentally, and honestly it was a true statement. She could go quite a bit further before really getting in too deep, and she had determined she would. Still, after living this lifetime in complete solitude in the snow-covered god's haven until just a while ago, even just interacting felt like it was too close sometimes. She was slowly getting readjusted, though.

She reached the spot and looked around- not actually expecting to bump into him right away. The goddess sat and flicked her tail as she thought of where to go next.

User Image Fleance padded towards a familiar place. He'd been there not too long ago and had an interesting encounter. Not the bad kind of interesting that was really "interesting" by name and only for the sake of being polite. He'd been genuinely intrigued in meeting Din-Tei, the goddess of gravity. They'd both had to leave to take care of their dependents. In Din's case it was the maned wolf she mentioned, and for Fleance it was his three cubs and waterbuck.

It was earlier in the day this time and Fleance had made sure everyone's bellies were full before he set out. He wasn't counting on running into her straight away, no, not at all. But he figured that it would take some wandering time to finally find her, and when he did he might have run out of time and have to go take care of his family. Hopefully that wouldn't be the case.

The god trotted towards their meeting place. He was still some ways off, but from a distance he made out a speck of blue. Was it her? His ears pricked forward and he squinted his eyes. There was no way he'd find her this fast. It must have been his imagination. Whether he believed it or not, Fleance found himself drawn towards the spot.

"The odds of him coming straight here are slim," Din-tei said to herself as she pondered the options. She wondered where she should wander in order to find him- it might be difficult. The mortal realm was a big place, the god's haven was smaller. But she had an inkling that that wasn't the place to go looking.

Fleance had spoken of some heavy stuff, last time they had met. She hoped that she hadn't caused it- she was accustomed to making lighter things heavy. Regardless, the goddess rose to her feet and stretched to get those thoughts out of her head. She shut her eyes tight as she stretched, and when she opened them she saw... Well, a grey figure on the horizon. While Fleance was grey, so were a multitude of mortals. She didn't get her hopes up too high, but she decided to head over towards the figure. The closer she got, the more details she could make out. And it looked like she was right- it was the god of ashes. "Hey Fleance!" she called out from an acceptable distance, pretty sure that by now he could tell who she was, too.

Fleance had been staring intensely at the strange blue-violet dot on the horizon that steadily grew larger into a familiar form, and when her voice rang out, Fleance couldn't help but smile. "Din! Din-Tei! Hello!" He picked up his pace to a nice clip and quickly closed the gap between them, forgetting about how eager he may or may not look in the process.

He slowed as he was a good few yards off and walked the rest of the way, but unsure of how to greet her, he just flashed her a small, shy smile and spoke again.

"...Hey."

He lifted his head as seeing her lifted his spirits.

"I didn't think I'd find you so quickly! I don't have anything to do for a while, are you busy?"

Din was glad to see that Fleance had recognized her too. She felt a smile come unwelcome to her face- she couldn't stop it. She remembered, in the back of her head, not to get too close. Well, getting too close never stopped you from kicking back and having a little fun, right? Nothing wrong with that- she did it all the time in more inconvenient ways to mortals, and gods were different.

Yeah, there wasn't anything dangerous about Fleance. Just look at that little smile! Doubts pushed aside, she let the smile take her muzzle- it was a rare thing, for her to cut loose.

"Ah, so you were looking for me?" she asked with a grin. Given, she had also been looking for him, but still. She had a feeling he could piece that together too. "I didn't think I would find you so fast either! And I've got nothing to do right now. Why, do you have some ideas, Fleance?" she asked with a headtilt, eager to get something interesting going.

A slight blush came over the young god's face. What a nice smile! It looked better on her than the typical somber-faced expression she wore. The same could probably be said for him, but he'd never have known it. He chuckled a little and looked down at his feet, stirring up dirt and ashes as he did.

"I uh, yeah. I was..." He looked at her and laughed quietly again. She said she didn't think she would find him so fast either... Which meant she'd been looking for him too! His smile grew a little bit bigger at the corners of his mouth.

The god tilted his head back, looking towards the sky as though the clouds would offer some sort of hint about what they could do. With his nose still raised in the air, he tilted an eye in her direction and shrugged, grinning again.

"I'm sure I could think of a couple of things, but what do you want to do?"

She'd never noticed it before- and she would have thought that he was truly kind of weird for it, but his shyness made him... cute. Cute wasn't something she usually went for, but somehow it made Fleance seem more unique; made her smile more. It wasn't that bad to let go, sometimes. If she had met him under different circumstances... If she had been in a bad mood, or fresh from her conversation with Love, things would have been different, and she would simply give him the typical blank look, a "hmph" and meandered off.

It seemed fate had something to say about this one.

"Well, I'm not sure," she said, brows furrowing a little in thought, eyes turning to the clouds, mimicking his move. "Hmmm," she said, pondering what her eyes saw. "Tell me what you think of this? There's snow in the god's haven, why not have a little snowball fight?" She said, turning back to him with a playfully mischievous expression on her face. She was always open for a change of game plans, but there were oh-so-few individuals who could make it up there to play a round.

The adolescent god would never think of himself in any sort of positive or complimentary manner, least of all as "cute". But if Din thought he was cute then he'd not correct her. If he knew, that is. He thought her quite pretty in return, having never met a goddess quite as lovely as her. Fleance stared at her with wide, ruddy-colored eyes. He tilted his head as he looked at her until finally, he nodded.

"Hmm. Yes, I quite like that idea!" He lifted his fluffy tail above the ground a few inches, his equivalent to a wild dog wagging their tail. He actually favored the cooler weather due to his thicker coat, but surprisingly he'd never had a snowball fight before.

"...Can we be on the same team?" He looked at her hopefully as he spoke and pulled out a smile as though subliminally begging.

Din smirked. "Excellent," she said, taking the moment to stretch her wings out a little bit. She was glad she could come up with something fun, and it had been quite a while since she had had a snowball fight. In fact... She wasn't entirely sure she remembered ever even having one in the first place, she did have some memory of one, though. Maybe she had just watched.

At any rate, she looked back to the grey god beside her. "We can be on the same team if we can find someone to team up against," she said with a nod. "Because what fun was it to have a snowball fight with nobody to fight? We'll need to start out by building up a good little stockpile of snowballs anyway, so we can see if anyone we can pelt will show up," she said. Din would have liked to team up with Fleance rather than oppose him, but all was fair in love and war.

"So how are we getting there, wanna teleport or fly?" she asked him with a smile, her face softening.

Fleance nodded, his smile never having left his face, just unaware of it growing larger and smaller in turn, from a more confident and happy-go-lucky, young and callous grin, to the meek and shy look and air he usually had about him. But he looked more serious as he spoke. "Well I guess if we can't find anyone to fight us, I guess I'll fight you... But I won't go easy on you!"

He watched her stretch her wings and mimicked by flexing his own.
"Let's fly!"

It felt like it had been ages since he'd flown. He was typically a little too self-concious to fly around the savannah in broad daylight. There were times when he would disguise himself as a bird and fly, but he wouldn't hide himself in front of Din.

"Likewise," she said with a smirk. She imagined she would be pretty good at a snowball fight- this was going to be fun. She was just bummed that they couldn't bring a mortal up to torment them. Aki would have been a great target for her harassment earlier today, but she didn't want to kill the maned wolf. No, she was actually becoming quite fond of the dark creature- she was very useful. Even if she did have the nerve to mouth off to a goddess.

"Alright," Din said, dipping herself down and jumping up as hard as she could, timing her wing beats to get airborne. She enjoyed flying, she wasn't sure why, and she had never done it with another god right beside her. Well, that probably wasn't true- she just didn't remember it. Odds were that she had flown with someone else once or twice before over the numerous lifetimes that she'd accumulated.

Unlike Fleance, Din rarely disguised herself- she didn't mind leaving a bit of confusion or awe in her trail, so she didn't particularly care what any given mortal may have seen.

She rose to see if there was an air current headed towards the god's haven, and there was a little ways up, she joined it with a smile- the day was going sooo smoothly.

With a mighty beat of his wings, Fleance followed Din up to the haven. They found no other gods (or at least any that were willing), so with great determination and grit from the God of Ashes, the battle was to ensue between Fleance and Din. Though he was rather unsure about the fight, he put on a brave face for his goddess friend.

Her attacks were stronger than his- by far- but he fought the good fight, well, mostly. He was pelted often, but much fun was had all-in-all. Their battle drew to a close, Din the obvious winner, and Fleance returned to the plains with Din. It was time again for Fleance to care for his cubs, but he was so drawn to his companion that it was hard for him to say goodbye.

But with another vow to meet again, the gods parted ways, Fleance oddly excited in a way he hadn't been before about anyone to see her again.

The end.
