The silence was choking around him, he liked it. Draven traveled slowly through the thinly placed trees of the forest. Armored ears twitched at the sides of his head as deep blue eyes peered from shadowed sockets. There was nothing about, that he could tell anyways. Rustling about his legs, a strange dark blue cloth, a tapestry it seemed. One that was well traveled as the ends were tattered and worn thin. The strange white and faintly scarred dragon stopped where he could see the sky clearly.

It was clear today, barely even a single could in sight and the sun was getting closer to its peak. Squinting a little, Draven peered closer to the sky before twisting his head away sharply, No! He wasn't going to take into the wistful thinking that laid within his head, even though his wingless shoulders itched. NO! Those days were gone, long ago thanks to his beloved father. Eyes closing themselves tightly, Draven turned his back to the clear sky and pressed forwards back to the shadows where he belonged. Unknowing to him that he might just find someone that just might change things, if only a little bit anyways.

Aoibheann trotted out, the dappled light making the blues and greens of her coat glow, and the brown wing markings on her sides flash starkly as she moved gracefully from dark to light to dark again. Her dark eyes sparkled softly with anticipation of what the new day would bring.

Cold, dark, and dreary winter was fading behind her, the fragrant, colorful spring was ending, and the warm and golden summer lay stretched ahead of her with no plans whatsoever. Admittedly, this had been her life since the Plague had ended when she was small, but she didn't let it deter her from the happiness she'd learned to treasure since the Plague, when happiness had been rare and hard to find...not to mention a bit painful. At least the ability to laugh had stood her in good stead, so far. Which was good, since unbeknownst to her, she was going to need every scrap of optimism in the coming months to keep her happy and sane.

As she came around the bend in the path, she almost ran smack dab into the scarred and armored male dragon before her. She skidded to a slightly clumsy stop on her haunches in front of him. "Good morning," she said in a friendly tone with her sweet, low, gentle voice.

With paws scratching the ground as he slid to stop as another nearly ran into him. Helmeted head turned to one side as he eyed her. Well it was a female dragon, one that matched the surroundings enough to leap out at anyone if wanted to. A huff escaped him as he looked away. "If you say so." came a grumble, the white dragon sought to simply walk to one side and around the female. "Don't really see much good about it, even if its morning."

As he passed, he watched the female from the shadowed sockets of his mask. The cloth that blanketed his scarred back fluttered somewhat, though it didn't hide all his scars. But it hid the ones he wanted to him most. "Though, at least there's no suffering anymore." This was muttered under his breath, but it was meant to be heard. He too was young when the plague swept through, but that was a long time ago to him. Past was the past, even if images of it haunted his steps and shadows everywhere he went.

Aoibh turned, her expression sober as her eyes followed him. "The suffering has ended, and I'm sure those we lost would want us to be happy, even if they're not here anymore," she said softly in response to his muttered comment. Her voice and eyes flickered like dark stars with the memories and shadows of those she'd lost: her parents, her siblings, her friends, and a young male she'd rather liked, who'd always wanted her to be happy. It had been his wish she keep smiling even after he died. His love and wishes for her had kept her sane after the Plague had ended.

"I'm sure you lost loved ones, too, even if the scars on your hide say otherwise, sir. I'm sure someone cared for you, or you wouldn't be here today." Her face radiated a certainty that had kept her from the horrible madness that had almost devoured her after she'd been left alone in the world by the end of the Plague, and the madness kept at bay by this certainty lurked in the shadows of her eyes, where the light couldn't quite reach.
