 Jianyu pounced on a clump of flowers, growling playfully before grabbing one of the fragile stems in his jaws. He shook his head from side to side, scattering the petals before reaching for another and another and then another. When all flowers had been destroyed, he stood, craning his head so that a high window on the house beside him was within view.
His human was in there, and the closed blinds told him she was still asleep. He pouted, pawing at the flowers. He thought that by doing something she disliked (in the case, tearing up a part of some stranger's garden), she would wake up, if only to reprimand him. But, evidently, that was not the case.
He barked, but the only response he received was an irritated "Shut up!" from the building across the street.
Starting to grow annoyed from the lack of reaction from his human, he scampered away. Surely, he thought as he ran, surely his human would regret waking up to find him gone, and she'd be so sad she'd give him all the attention that he wanted just to get him back!

 Bahati stretched as he woke up. It was relatively early, at least for him. He rose slowly from his overstuffed bed, slowly testing each foot on the floor before deciding if it was the right temperature to walk on. The human was already awake, and Bahati was ready to be fed. He pranced over to his bowl, claws clicking lightly on the wooden floors, there he sat in front of the bowl and stared up at his human.
At first she took no notice of him, going about her daily breakfast activities. Arf! A sharp note sprang from Bahati's throat as a message to inform the human of his presence. She looked down, startled by the sudden noise, but her face was quickly taken over by a pleased smile. She rubbed Bahati's head as she mumbled, "And what would you like for breakfast today?"
She then walked over to the pantry and pulled out two cans. She offered both to Bahati and he picked the left, his favorite, Sirloin Steak and Potatoes. After breakfast Bahati waited by the door to be let out. The human opened the door and closed it behind Bahati.
After taking care of business Bahati began to walk off down the street.

Soon, Jianyu found himself on unfamiliar grounds. He had rarely left the house and even when he did, he didn't go far. Today's sudden departure had been just that: sudden, and little thought had been given to his actions. But he didn't regret his decision. Oh, no, he was much too distracted for that.
There were houses, dirt, plants, cars, and streets, just like the place he had come from. But they were different houses, different dirt, different plants and cars and streets. They caught his attention and held it fiercely. It was't long until he was chewing on everything he could reach, from morning newspapers to strewn trash. Even large car tires weren't spared, although he left those soon after when it became apparent their taste wasn't worth the effort of getting his jaws around the thick edge.
Just as he was about to reach for an abandoned shoe, the sight of another dog caught his attention and he wagged his tails excitedly. "Hey!" he barked, trying to catch the other's attention.

It hadn't been long that Bahati had been trotting down the street. He was lost in his own world inside his head, daydreaming about all sorts of things, including girls. All of the sudden Bahati was brought out of his illusions by the bark of another dog.
His head snapped up, his eyes widened for a moment in alarm before Bahati recognized that the other dog was no danger. After a slight pause, Bahat trotted over to the other dog and plopped down in front of it.
"Hello." He said with a mildly quizzical look on his face. Bahati had never seen this dog before and so he wasn't entirely sure what to do yet. His human had never brought him to meet another dog, except for his house-mate, Tempest, but family is way different from other dogs. Bahati tilted his head slightly to the left and watched the other dog as it wagged it's tail.
"Who are you?"

Glad the other took notice of him, Jianyu shifted slightly so that he could better see the other. He wriggled excitedly when the dog approached, excited to meet another of his kind in this new world. Where he came from, everyone was a puppy, but it was different here. There were much less puppies, and every puppy had a human. He missed his old home sometimes, but he was too excited about this world to let it bother him much.
"Hello," he replied, poking the other's nose with his own in greeting. The puppy had a lot of greens and yellows to him, which reminded him of the bananas his human had at home.
He gnawed on the shoe, looking up with wide, innocent eyes at the male when he tilted his head at him. He wondered why the dog was looking at him that way. Did he know he did something wrong? He was starting to grow nervous at the thought, and wondered if the puppy would get mad at him, too. But thankfully, that didn't seem to be the case, and his tails started wagging again with relief.
"I'm Jianyu," he said. "What about you?"

Bahati was a little startled when the other puppy touched noses to him. He was unfamiliar with this method of greeting and it took him off guard. He paused for a moment, before regaining his senses and dismissing the action as manners. Bahati watched the other puppy chew the shoe for a moment, and as he did, the puppy seemed to falter for a moment before returning to wagging his tails cheerfully.
"I'm Bahati. I like your name. Where do you come from?"
Bahati lay down in front of Jianyu and crossed his front paws, leaning just to the right to make sure his body stayed balanced without too much effort.

"Thanks! I like your name, too," Jianyu replied, releasing his hold on the shoe. It had by that point become a pitiful pile of tattered rags and slime, and only the single shoelace remaining was proof of what it had once been. Still, despite its state, Jianyu's paws were wrapped around it.
"I come from my human's house!" he said. At first, he thought the puppy meant the world they came from, but later decided it wasn't the case. All puppies knew about the dimension other puppies originated from, because it was the same place, right?
"It's right over..." he stood, craning his head this way and that, looking for it. It was then that he remembered that he had run off, and only now did he realize he was lost. "...somewhere."

It took only a moment before Bahati realized that other pups didn't just leave their house and wander around like he did. He knew the area fairly well, but he didn't know who lived where.
"Are you lost?" Bahati asked Jianyu, a look of concern entering his eyes. It was not often that Bahati put others before his own agenda, but this pup seemed genuinely nice and in need of a bit of help.
"We could have our own little adventure while we try to find your house again, if you'd like that is." Bahati gently suggested to Jianyu

"I... I think so," Jianyu said, although he continued to look around desperately, hoping he was wrong. This world was a much larger place and new, too. If he got lost, who knew how long it'd take to find his way back again?
At Bahati's offer, he looked up happily. Already his worry was ebbing away. After all, if both of them were looking, that meant there would be twice the chance of finding his home, right?
"That sounds like fun!" he replied, agreeing. Immedietly, he crouched and pressed his nose to the floor, circling Bahati while pretending to be a police dog on the hunt for whatever it is they looked for. ("Duh-rug," his human had said when he asked after seeing one on T.V. But what were duh-rugs, anyways?) "Where do you wanna start?"

Bahati's eyes followed Jianyu as he walked around him in circles. "First we have to start with you." Bahati said in a matter-of-fact way.
"Which way did you come from? And what color is your house?" Bahati began with these questions because that would narrow down where they needed to search, and it would keep them from getting farther away from Jianyu's house.

"Right," Jianyu said, adopting Bahati's curt tone. He sat where he was, back straight, already into the adventure game they were playing.
"I came from that way." He motioned with his muzzle in a general direction. From the trail of chewed objects littered on the ground, he was pretty sure that was the way he came from. "My house is brown, and it had a garden near it," he added.

Bahati nodded as Jianyu answered his questions. It might not be easy to find a brown house with a garden because there seemed to be many of those in this neighborhood, but Bahati did notice the trail of mangled objects Jianyu had left behind.
"Okay then, let's start off in that direction!" Bahati said with a hint of excitement creeping into his voice. He jumped up from his sitting position and began to walk in teh direction that Jianyu had indicated.
He stopped at the first couple of chewed objects and sniffed each one to make sure that Jianyu was the one who had chewed them. As they all smelled about the same, Bahati figured they were on the right path.
